Been away on a little holiday so late to reply to this but, i think i am gonna sack this idea of, cut my loss`s put the new sleeping bag on fleabay along with airbed when it arrives. I get that lots or most fisheries wont allow tents....even if said tent is camo and looks like a bivvy, i would only be doing a max of 3 separate 24 hour sessions in a year during decent summer weather so i am just not prepared to shell out for a bivvy or brolly system and bedchair that will be plain an simple in the way at home. i just cant justify the expense of this and try to store bulky items

Well I've been out and got around 100 snails, got a special mix on the go in the bucket 😏 tedious picking in the waders 💪🤣 I'm off to the canal tomorrow morning for a night or two. Both rods are gonna go on snails. I will update how I get on 👍

Steve Neville Mk1 Receiver
Steven Reed replied to Steven Reed's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Update. Have found a copy of the pairing instructions but can't get the alarms to pair. All the receiver lights come on as expected when switching on but nothing happens when I attempt to pair. Have tried with all three alarms which are all working fine so I suspect a problem with the receiver. Is there a hard reset I can do or should i suspect a faulty receiver? TIA. -
I have just acquired 3 nice Steve Neville alarms and a Mk1 receiver. The alarms work fine but I can't seem to pair with the receiver. Does anyone have a copy of the instructions for how to do this? TIA. Steve

Anyone else thinking how much of an edge those snails could be?

CC Moore do some small ones, which are friend had some success with, but nothing like the bad boys @elmoputney found. I've tried hair rigging slugs before but they didn't stay on long. I'd be interested to know how you get on @jh92,so do keep us posted mate? https://ccmoore.com/32-frozen-water-snails

Fake ones? Real ones for a spod mix 🤔 https://www.carpparticles.co.uk/product/micro-snails/ Also don't dynamite cook their hemp in the tins? Does that mean they are unaliving snails in the tin too? 😱
-
Cheers bud, trying to get away from boili3s at the moment, I'm after real snails 👍🤣 Yes mate I've already got myself a tin 👍 I want a couple from my canal that I can drill and rig 👍 I'm gonna get the waders on for next session and pick a couple from the banks and see what happens 👍🤣

https://www.baitworks.co.uk/ I've been on the Creamino for the last few years and I don't know if it's co-incidence but I've had my best 2 seasons since.

There's a lot of snails on the canal at the moment and the fish seem to be hoovering them up and avoiding bait lol. Any suggestions on how I can catch a couple of them for bait, like some sort of snail trap?

Note to self, don't use a bait boat on a weedy canal 🤣 man what a nightmare, so last night we thought we should send the baits/particle out with the boat. 3 rods went out sweet, dropped the 4th, turned the boat right when I should of went left and it into that scummy weed that sits on top the water. Wrapped around the propellers and stopped the boat in its tracks. We had no way of getting the boat back so had to do 4 mile trip to get to the other side, safe to say the travel was the easiest part, I then had to go through about 5ft of nettles in the dark to get to the waters edge and still couldn't reach the boat, so I tried with my net handle, which had nothing on the end so I couldn't even hook it out 🤦♂️🤣 in the end I just slid down the bank hanging onto brambles and managed to grab it with my other hand and launch in back up into the hedge 🤣 I got stung all up my hip, back and arm and hands lol and to make it even worse, the whole time I was over there trying to get it out all I could hear is my mate roaring like a child 🤣🤣

There you go that was the thread.

Sounds like a productive trip! You’ve got a solid haul of tackle there, and it’s good to hear you’re actually using everything rather than just impulse buying. Looking forward to seeing your DIY Deeper WiFi booster thread — always nice to see practical builds and how they perform in real setups.

I get most of my kit second hand, never had any issues 👌 got my hide about 3 4 years ago second hand and it's still going strong 🤣

The other one (white with light orange - a Kohaku??) aint as big as it looks in the photo, maybe 20 lb at a push. Still, a great fish. It's a Doitsu which for those who don't know means leather/lightly scaled mirror. They sound like bangers mate, especially the zip karashigoi... looking forward to seeing them.

Thats a proper unit, though so is the one in the picture with it if the grassie is a metre long roughly. It's surprising how big they can grow in a pond. My two koi i currently have are both knocking 50cm to 60cm. One is a Sanke and the other a perfect zip linear karashigoi, I'll try and get pics but my water clarity isn't to good as I've just not had the time this year to keep on top of it.

Popped out to get a photo last night. It's the one fish in the pond that's not a koi. It's an albino grass carp. Despite its mental golden colour, this one was always going to be tricky to get a shot of as it tends not to come up for food, preferring to mooch around about a meter under the surface like a massive orange submarine. It has to be nearly a meter long but v tricky to put a weight on. It's certainly the longest fish in the pond but not the biggest. Maybe 26-27 lb? This is the fish that's had all our visitors giving it "oooooh" and "aaaaah" which is silly because there's 2 or 3 that are a fair bit bigger, but the length just blows people way. I just call it The Big Grassie. Again, apologies for the poor pic quality.

Funny, I was looking at these online yesterday! Glad to hear they work!

I put a pergola over mine and then brought a uv rated sun shade/sail. Does the job, I've hardly had any silk weed since doing this a few summers ago.
