Roughtor Posted Wednesday at 09:58 Report Posted Wednesday at 09:58 I didn't know this ,but 20.000 people voted on change.org thingy ...to ban catapults including the ones we use in our angling .. Thankfully it has been rejected .. commonly and jh92 2 Quote
yonny Posted Wednesday at 10:12 Report Posted Wednesday at 10:12 Tbf I'd support a ban on carrying them in public or even needing a license to have one. Although you'd not see me signing any petition! elmoputney and jh92 2 Quote
InteraX Posted Wednesday at 12:39 Report Posted Wednesday at 12:39 I understand why this petition was created (catapults being used to attack animals), but it is certainly a sledge hammer to crack a peanut. Whilst it is abhorrent that any animal is targeted by anyone, I'm glad that those in power recognise the importance of their use in a legitimate pass time. Criminalise the action and enforce the penalties, not the tools. Get more police on the streets and get them out of their cars. I can't remember the last time I saw a bobby on the beat. It's probably too late for the local police stations. There's been too many efficiency drives for the police to truly be able to crack down on antisocial & criminal behaviour in towns, let alone in the countryside. yonny 1 Quote

I see more animals hit with crossbow bolts than I do with a catapult! Saying that I used to see a pest control officer using a Barnet Diablo or Black Widow for rats, and at one time they were a carp anglers best boilie pult. I really don't understand the logic of some people, those who are trying to ban a legitimate use of a catapult for groundbait or boilies, or those who aim for animals. As a kid I made longbows, catapults and other arrow launchers, and I am positive that not all were used legitimately, kids play fights, pigeons or rats as targets or the occasional school window... As for the police, if I misbehaved, I'd get a clip round the ear from whoever caught me, and if I was stupid enough to tell my mother, another when I told her, or if I was caught by the village Bobby, no matter how fast I ran or cycled, how many shortcuts I took, he was stood at the door talking to my mother when I got home. We have lost education, from one or two misbehaving children in a year group to one or two well behaved children in the year group. jules007, Roughtor and InteraX 3 Quote
