Hooklink anti tangle sleeves

Noticed that people use hooklink anti tangle sleeves less and less now, I have always put them on put they are a pain when trying to slide the hooklink through a PVA Bag, the sleeve comes off in the bag !

 

Any reason they are out of fashion or are they deemed unnecessary ?

I think you've answered your own question by and large.

 

For me, they look a bit "Clunky" and I prefer to use shrink tube both ends.

I guess with coated braids and fluro hook links the need for them is less and as you say they do look a bit clunky

I still use them, along with Fluro hooklinks

Use them always regardless of hooklink material, though I do cut them down by about a third.

Anti tangle has to be first issue to sort out

I ones I use are the short ESP ones so need to cut them, they only sit about 15mm below the swivel.

If you want to use a pva bag with anti tangle sleeve why not just hook the pva mesh onto your hook or use a solid bag,

I can honestly say I have not used a hooklink anti tangle sleeve.

 

I knot the hooklink material to the swivel, job done. No tangles, no worries and if the possibility of tangle is there (only with braid), then I have PVA.

I use them, but not if pulling the link through a bag, as theres no need as its nigh on impossible to tangle with a bag on it.
