  1. My view is that the best barrows going are the Carp Porter range. I have used the Mk.ll and it made short work of a mile walk to the swim at Taverham. If anyone knows Taverham, I am not joking on the distance from the car park to the swims on the far side, even the swims closest to the car park are probably 1/4 of a mile, and it is not fun lugging the gear for a week.

Just google mapped Taverham and i see what you mean !

I wonder how many trips were made to that far side pre Barra's before you were to tired to setup ?

  2. Ahh..... i see my post has gone , no explanation though ..........................

It was subtle but there was buried deep within the post that now no longer resides these hallowed pages an inferance that you might should someone wish to buy and you sell a certain Barra which you have in your possession.

As per the rules it should be of no surprise it got erased, But that's just my humble opinion :)

  3. Fantastic bit of kit here.

Only beaten by the power porter, in my opinion (Which is too expensive for my taste (At the minute  ))

Yep i got the pre Camo one which to be honest has transformed my Logistics, I can hump alll my gear in one go without stopping for a rest.

I have however got a few Camo replacement's saved in my E-bay lol

i need one like yours snoozer, my arms seize up after 200 yds so its stop go all the way to the car park

Mate it's sooo handy to lug everything inc Jims bivvy & rod holdal round to the swim without stopping, Jim had to give me a shove up the hill last time out when she was fully loaded but it was very slippery with all the wet stuff lately and i didn't want to spin out on the turn.

Your welcome to watch me push on bye your camp next time out :)

  4. I've got some of this and the back of mine states:

Can be cut with sharp scissors

What's put me off using it is that it's a coil of steel on the inside. It should be nice and heavy when on the lake bead, BUT if that's a coil of steel wire on the inside, surely the cut ends will be fairly sharp and could cause serious line damage.

What I've gone for instead is the Korda Dark Matter and got myself the Nash Tube Threader. Basically a twisted long thin steel wire with a loop at the end.

Interesting as this is what appears on the back now.

    what's changed i wonder ?

  5. Hi peeps,

Anyone using their Freefall Micro Braided Tube ?

Just got me a couple of packs as the line i'm currently using refused to thread down standard internal bore stuff i have.

Looks really good for something a simple as tube with an inner stainless core that allows for easier threading and after trying the Big Game in 20lb i can confirm it's a good threader :)

Funny thing is whilst parting me my money in my local Tackle shop a random guy in there said you can cut it down if you like, But i replied it clearly states on the packet

"This product has been custom made in 1mtr lengths. This product cannot be cut down into smaller lengths without loss of performance"

The bloke then told me he used to work for this company but the Chinese brought them out and they print any ol **** on the packets !

Now i think the length is just right but wonder what performance loss they are indicating ?

  6. I've just renewed my house policy with Direct Line.

I've gone for the Direct Line Premium and they have confirmed that I've got cover to 5k in the house and on the bank.

Umm i think a call to my ins company is in order as my Excel list check sum passed 6k last night and i aint finished yet lol

I bet if alot of us added up the total value we would be waaaay under insured ! I think i may be :(

  7. Can you use a Knotless knot on braid as I've been using it all the time and recently watched a video on Jim Shelley and he says Knotless knot are for mono

just got me wondering if I was using the best knot without weakening the braid at the same time as another video said that some knots can weaken the braid

i'm pretty convinced now that his name and Carp should never be used in the same sentance !

  8. Right i've started today compiling a loooooong list of kit used in the persuit of Carp.

Initially so i could get an idea of what it's cost me to blank on a regular basis lol

Which got me wondering what insurence companies require in the event you need to make a claim, I guess it does depend of the company but has anyone had to make a claim and could shed some light on what was involved ?

My house contents covers me for my kit even at the bankside but excludes rods broken due to getting stepped on for some strange reason !!

Having typed that i should phone them and ask what they require but the law of s o d would suggest i end up making a claim soon there after looking very suspicious....

My list can be backed up by recipts but not for everything i own probably like a good many of us.

Would a list suffice backed up by photo's or are they insistant on proof of purchase ?

You thoughts and experiance peeps !
