looks real good, baitworks would be my first choice, i used the royal marine before a very high quality bait, only used once and didn't catch but that's more the lake i was fishing, if i could by it in large bulk and freeze i'd be happy, trying to order a few kilo here and there is not very practical so i try to call in the bait makers themselves, back to the topic of why bait is being discounted could be a number of things combining, over production based on last year's sales, end of summer stockpile and more people want a better bait, even the mighty Mainline struggles for freezer space in the shops. Mainline seemed to lose the plot after cell keep trying for something really different to the rest but not really doing much.

wish i could get that organised i got a new leader this week i must bee keen as i tied on the same day, should be out Thursday was going tomorrow but that went west fast, pick the bait up from whacker catcher after i set up in my peg lol. got the hook baits already so i'm halfway there.

talking of baitworks see they have a new one out or new to me, looks good as well, just the kind of bait i was messing with from JB, the shrimp ecton berry is a real nice bait very soft and made to dissolve out food signals as it's a feed bait that needs to be found and ate. https://www.baitworks.co.uk/product-categories/creamino-boilies

none of them to be honest they are good baits but you can get a lot better for less money, they are made for retail first which means they store well, where as a fresh rolled bait is nice as is, no glugs or powders., i will happily use, baitworks, cov carp baits, whacker catcher, sticky would be a great bait to roll yourself.

Another way of looking at a good HNV bait is when you take it to a runs water that has a fair number of good doubles like mallard at stanwicks, the better fish will get on a good bait, even on my syndicate, if you put a good bait in the water they will go over and chow down right before your eyes, just come out of nowhere truck across the lake flashing there dorsals and disappear over the bait, sometimes you wont even get a bleep., chuck cheap bait in or should i say retail shelfie as they are not cheap, and they just wont feed on them in fact due to them resembling a pile of hook baits i think they bolt from them?

3.25tc to stiff for 10ft rod ?
Carpbell_ll replied to RJT74's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I think the more wraps of carbon the rod is made with the stiffer it will be, a single wrap rod would be better but also more expensive, it was the main feature i looked for in my price range, my 10 3lb rods are perfect for me, distance or close in, the difference in trying to fish the same with cheap rods is really noticeable. -
Adam is a pleasant enough bloke it is a filler video though, not a enjoyable job all the time you could see that in a previous end tackle video, trying to talk up the unique selling points of lead clips, poor guy. bet he prefers doing these sort of videos. plus he always gets a pass from me, what a way to leave korda.

not sure what sweetner mainline use but it is strong and wrank very strong chemical preservative air to it.

i got the neoprene ones big mistake stay wet and getting them on fast is impossible, i do use them a lot though they are like the poor mans bait boat lol plus you don't get the whole cheating bit😙

hate to be a rod snob but unless you get something a bit special you will struggle to get twelve lb line to fish on most shop bought waggler rods the top eye ruins the line from friction goes fast as well, you would need to put a bigger tip ring on at least, a two piece carp rod would be useless as a float rod, not enough rings and you would need to let the fish hook itself or you will just bump the fish off most times, Harrison do a waggler rod made for low doubles up to twenties

two on the bottom one pooped up all on combis i used a new to me pop up arrangement recently nice and neat but a bit out the normal so keeping to myself as i don't think it would get a good review. but it makes casting a single hook bait on braid combis near tangle proof and well weighted before adding a little shot to the braid length,

Syndicate waters northants
Carpbell_ll replied to theflettonblanker's topic in UK Venues and Where to Fish
stanwicks do a good year ticket and you get to fish elsons in the winter and it is unlimited night fishing on the other waters bar roman all for two seventy that is a bargain price. plus they run three syndicate waters i would think to get a syndicate ticket you would need to do the year book first? -
i didn't even know about the 43 i thought the biggest was thirty seven, looks like pearly is on of the biggest in there these days the other lake has a good amount of forties in not many of the big ones coming out this summer, now that little lake has very little weed the bottom is getting a lot firmer, the amount of spots you can find is deceiving there are some lovely areas that should fish but they seem to attract the anglers more than the carp.

that one is putting weight on bet it would of been near forty a month ago not many come off the top in there. still a few photos of you on the board with fish a big common and a few others, the one i would like to catch, moonscale is around thirty to thirty two at last catch haven't heard of anyone seeing that in a while.

That was a net guess was a bit bigger, no only a mat shot and video, didn't fancy doing a hold photo get a bit twitchy whith the larger fish it's not nice when they kick off on the mat, if I had a tripod I would.

Ohhh got a little cracker in the net only around 12lb but what a fish full double sided linear. Get some proper photos of this one as it's only small but nice just getting light so no sleep for me I'm offski soon.

On luck always better to be a lucky angler than a good angler I don't know how but on most of the waters I have fished I do tend to get into the larger ones some of the fish I had out of pine pool where all one of a kind due to how old they are in there one of the few waters with proper black commons.

The lake I'm on is small but there are on six pegs all on one side of the lake you can't see anyone else it's like you always have the lake to yourself my perfect venue I can only do so long on open view waters these days where everyone is facing each other, does anoy me when newish angler's only got into carp fishing to chase chunks and quote numbers I got into carp fishing by accident went to get some pike tackle for the canal probably in mid summer that was malc rookers shop, I came out a carp angler... not my call I blame Malc.

Paul Whithouse and Bob Mortimer style and away video. The big un Small common Nice mirror mid 20 think that's some of the Dinton pastures fish?

Well both me and the fish like the Ecton Berry from Whacker Catcher really is on of those baits you just know will get scoffed. 4 fish so far one going to 35.9lb which I thought was close to the lake record but no, that's at 43, if anyone has my you tube page there are some short videos there are links in the Rolling Rounds thread, can't figure out how to copy links in with my phone. Should rename the Bait Whelly Berry, such a handy little unit order and pay, pick up when at the lake.

agree with blue, the only other option is a laundrette they have the oversize washers and dryers for quilts you would of had to of spilt a good glug of bait dip before going for that option though.
-
you are right in what you are saying and a good homemade bait will always out fish a retail bait the problems start on British waters mainly due to the choices the carp have they get the best bait, mountains of high grade freebies then there is the lakes own food which is what most larger carp mainly feed on, they really are spolit for choice, they become selective in what they will eat even when very hungry.

changing lead set up to a clip might help the heli don't give enough weight to the hook bait on the take, which shouldn't be a problem as it is one of the most popular set ups on the water my hooks are out the pack sharp and the rigs are fishing, i have been using ronnies mainly this year on a coated boom and fluorocarbon section, from here on in i'm trying large bottom baits on a basic hair rig just have the pop up on one rod. pellets and boilies only, i could do with neater rigs and presentation getting them feeding is never a problem getting a bite is real thin on the ground this year.

found a new bait company right on the doorstep of the lakes they have a unit up in the Leyland estate in Wellingborough they own ecton lakes and the bait recipes are the old mans a guy called Alan Taylor? had a bait out back in the day called the dogs'. after getting nowhere with the tigers and sweep never getting mainline parti tubs again real low quality. anyway, looked for a local tackle shop to find they have all closed due to ad opening up shop in Northampton, but did come up with whacker catcher so off i went and got some bait, nice guys let me buy from the unit out the blue did me two bags of ecton berry frozen and a tub of pop ups for twenty notes, only got to use them on the last day and the fish did like the bait the single beeps and shy bites started, i think i should be hitting more of the single beeps? still got the majority of the bait and will be getting more even had old Pete down he really liked the berry got a moorish scent to it. if you fish in the valley you can order and pay for your bait online and pick it up on your way to the lakes, more importantly the bait is fresh rolled the quality is one of the best i have found for rolled baits. https://whackercatcherproducts.co.uk/
