  1. Got a set of mk1 delks. Only problems I've had are when I ripped my battery connection point off my receiver by accident and when one of the Y bars got damaged on a take fishing to snags. Both my fault. Not the alarms. Newer version yeah, apparently waterproofing issues. I've never met anyone who has had this issue though. Everyone just knows a mate that has!
  2. Good set of thermals, good socks (merino wool) and wind proof top layers. Put layers on as you get colder. Otherwise you will sweat too much as said.
  3. My bad. Auto correct has had me there. WYCHWOOD is what I meant to say!!
  4. Such wood are good lads. Played beer pong with them at carp in the park. Don't remember much afterwards!!
  5. Yes they are pants. Too soft. Turn on if you breathe on them
  6. using boilie crumb is very in fashion though...basically the same thing
  7. Over weighted pop ups are what I normally use unless fishing over light weed/heavier silt. Snowman rigs should be balanced and act the same as wafters? Had my pb on a snowman and caught countless fish on them. The angling situation dictates what rig I use. Normally a low pop up on my stiff multi rig. Snowmen on harder spots or over finer background feed. Saying that I have landed some tricky carp on 2 inch pop ups over beds of groats, pigeon conditioner and maples.
  8. Looking for a curve shank to suit my fishing. only use barbed agree, its why I use big hooks. they stay put. Going to get some. I rarely fish bottom/balanced at the moment so doubt I'll really use them.
  9. No worries, been put on to J Precision hooks...
  10. trying to offload then on to me. From what I saw they were sharp from the pack and looked strong. I just like a big curve shank for bottom/balanced baits on the multi rig. The atomic size 5s are still pretty small. Have caught on them though, and had no drop off at all but it's just a confidence thing when I head back to harder waters with bigger fish. If you weren't impressed then I will steer clear. Always looking for alternatives now fox hooks are as soft as butter.
  11. for me, Atomic Jell-E-Wyre and chod wyre. Atomic hooks. Other bits and pieces from all over. Fox hook beads, bank tackle, avid, korda, kryston, the list goes on. I am looking at the mozzy hooks though. silly sharp, tough and dirt cheap. My mate had a few which I looked at and I have to say I may be using them in the curve shank when using bottom baits next year. Letting him give a full trial on them first though!
  12. size 4 all the time. Normally with a 15/16mm pop up. Hook more fish, land more fish. Even when surface fishing my bread crust has a big size 4 in it. This winter I am toying with the idea of dropping to 6s with 12mm pop ups though...
  13. It's funnier when people walk in to them in the dark though...or the sheep.
  14. because I only want it visible when I shine a light on it...
  15. I'll post pics of my old banksticks with reflective tape wrapped round them that I use for marker sticks if you want too.
  16. Just one knot and it's one of the strongest about. The Mahin knot. I lost a fish on the undercut island Friday night. Fish shed the hook and I was left stuck to likely a root. The knot st the hook link swivel gave before the leader knot. For the invisibility factor it's well worth it. If I could get the leader in 15lb I'd use it at that BS but 20 is the lowest.
  17. considering leadless leaders are available they are an option instead of leadcore. I've gone from fox submerge to avid outline fluoro leaders this year. Just to try it out. Personally I dont think i'll go back unless fishing on the river maybe. It's stood up to numerous snags and not come back damaged at all. Sinks superbly and is practically invisible. Yes it is a leader but I think because of the stiffness the likelihood of it tangling is lower than leadcore/leadless if a fish is trailing it. Obviously no leader is best but with 15lb line does it really make much difference using a 20lb fluorocarbon leader?
  18. With a weeks holiday if family permitting you can travel a bit.
  19. are all the lakes on the proposed hs2 line then in your area?
  20. That's how I kill my time on the bank. Normally have at least 15 tied and ready to go. Like you say, make a wrong cast you soon get through the them, and the pva mesh too!
  21. I use the castaway pva ones or if a parcel has suitable ones. Occur then in quarters and pva mesh two bits. Hook goes through the middle in the little gap. No chance of any residue and it's popped off and floating on the surface within seconds.
  22. So true. The atomic hooks are razor sharp out the packet and very durable. I only sharpen when it needs it. The new fox edges are softest hooks I've come across. Surgically sharp from the pack but blunt so easily. Constantly sharpening them and they go too far very quickly because of this. Basically using a spear.
  23. I have this, fits neat in my tackle box and does the job with 3-4 runs over the hook. And I use atomic hooks and as yonny said they are very hard hooks!!
  24. Don't trust that after having grebes pull them out. Always pierce them now.
  25. Yeah that's the baits fault. Buy better pop ups. My combi rig style I think works in a similar way to a stiff hinge. The stripped back coating behind the putty allows it to flip all over the place and the stiff material allows it to catch the carps mouth much more effectively. I don't always overweight it but found better hookholds when it is. Even on tench and bream.
