I have never really paid to much attention to oils and glug's outside of the goo really but over the last year i have started to play around a bit more, from urban i tend to add a decent amount of the nutcracker liquid and leave it to soak for a day or 2 then on the day i add some of the red spicy flavouring. On the 2 waters i fished last year i caught really well and consistently, Would i have caught as many with them? Who knows but if i am catching with them iam not going to stop using them....Also the liquid tastes nice and the red spicy flavoring is just mashed up chilli's, Its hot and great on chips!

not read all the messages but im not sold on the whole washed out bait thing, How does a fish know a bait has been in the water longer? Most baits washed out or not are slightly different shades of colour. I also think it would be niave of us on most venues to think we were fishing where there is no other bait around. If a fish is leaving fresh bait and eating the washed out bait....is it because the fish thinks its been in the water longer so safe? or that the food signals are maybe less and now more attractive to that particular fish? or is it the flavour you have added when washing out a bait that has made it more favourable.....We will probably never know. Every angler will have a different opinion, The question is, are you confident in what you are doing? If you washing out your bait and its catching fish...continue, If your not catching, Give it a try and if it doesnt work youve lost nothing. Fishing well if all about confidence.

have a search mate, I asked this a few months ago. What helped me was fishing deepers water and 7 to 8 " hook lenghs....I was fishing 3/4" solid bags before and it wasnt getting them!

Why has no one mentioned Reel big fish? they done the work for you!

Well this looks set to be my last "session" before the baby drops, I will get some more work overnighters in but i have Thursday to Saturday to finally get my 2 target fish. Anyway, On this venue i tend to move between 2 or 3 swims on the same side of the bank but at opposite ends, each area doing me well but i have noticed over the last month or so alot of repeat captures. Now at 1 end of the lake theres a big island, from the side i usually fish its about 18 wraps and from the other is about 8 wraps, The short side i havent really liked fishing as it gives no view of the rest of the lake and if the fish are not in front of you your in trouble, its also the deepest part of the lake by a ft or 2. Now i have noticed when the sun gets up the fish tend to get round there and cruise around the top, So over the last week work overnighters i have fished round there. This has led me to catching fish i havent caught before and also consistantly catching (even though not as often as with the otherside). so anyway over the few days that i will be there i plan to set up shop behind the island, Close the the island its inches deep dropping down to 7ft then to 11ft. I had some joy at 11ft this past overnighter....So im thinking that during the night i will fish down on the bottom of the shelf in 11ft of water and during the day i will either zig over the same spot of fish tighter to the island in shallow water depending on what i see. However im thinking if i go shallow i will move the next swim down so to "rest the spot a little".......Do people ever fish past the baited spot into shallower water? Do they have a problem with doing that? I feel that because there is such a difference in depth that my lines will be no where near the bait.....but the lines will still be there so maybe i should just cast left and right of the baited spot of move the rods down a peg..... Any thoughts on this? It must be common to fish shallower during the day over and past baited areas and drop back down into deeper water in the evening?

Hi All, I think its time for me to get some new alarms and move the solaces into the 9ft foot couple of hour kit. Those alarms have done 5 fishing fishing at least 1 night a week through wind, rain and snow and they havent let me down but i did notice this week that on 1 of the alarms the bobbins could move a fair bit before notification. so whats every one using? What do people recommend? Im sure i read there was one where the reciever light up the bivvy if there was a run? Want to avoid Delkims if possible...just because everyone has them!

I wonder if their metabolism is also influanced by the amount of naturals and the amound of fish in a lake also. i have had repeat captures through winter, 3 or 4 of them usually during the night over a 5 or 6 hour period (that in the last fortnight has begun and finished a few hours earlier). this lakes been a bit of a freak anyway but i do wonder....
-
Yeah working at the moment and im pretty in touch with people there so i know theres fish coming out, and i have done all winter so that helps. Decide on the day is the best plan.

im currently doing over nighters and i always start with 8 spods and fish solid bags. 10 spods isnt much bait at all, Fish one rod over bait and roam with the other. If you catch on the baited spot, Then put another copy of spods over the top, You you get another bite...Get that second rod on the same spot! I give it 3 spods after every bite, Regardless of time.
-
unfortuntatly i have seen them cruising on the top in summer but your not allowed to surface fish or have a zig in the top 6" of water.......i might be a little naughty and put a rod on the tigers for the night...see what that does for me. I have heard about them destroying nets but im clumsly enough as it is so in the net then straight out of the water i guess.

Hi, Never caught one before, Not even seen one on the bank but i know theres a couple in the lake im currently fishing up to 27lb, I have 3 months left to try and get one out. Does anyone have any advise for these? At the moment im using solid bags with short hook links, i saw an article mentioning they have bigger mouths then common carp so maybe i im hurting my chances with solid bags. Its a 3 rod venue so its not like i have to completely move away from a successful tactic on this water.

Well i blanked Tuesday but im back on later tonight until the morning....Lets see if this amazing weather chucks up a few bites.....Not quite sure how i should approach baiting (i wont be on til dark) how would you approach it, Bit of bait, Going in with singles....Kinda thinking if the weather is that good i should introduce a bit of bait....
-
So where i am (Colchester) the weather looks pretty good in the middle of next week...maybe even double digits 1 day SW wind as well.....is this what people should be jumping on?

What rig best to use in winter for silkweed
Ginger9991 replied to Carp123_0's topic in UK Carp Fishing
I have this problem at my lake, looks like the weed as died and drifted over my normally clear spot, Solid bags are my go to method but the rigs are coming in covered in silkweed, I have moved over to helicopter rigs and im back on the fish again. -
For this runs water and in the interest of keeping cost down, use alternatives, Pigeon conditioner, Maples, Maize, Vitalin, Groats. Hemp is great, But i have done a season without using hemp and i still caught well enough.

I cant do crocs.....its a pride thing....... lol

Hey guys, So i usually just wear an old pair of Nike trainers but they are now knackered,,,So i need some new footwear for the bank, I have a pair of Skeetek boots but for running out the bivvy at night i cant get on with them. I have seen the fox waterproof boots that look alright....Anyone recommend any?

Black Friday........

Went in to Angling direct to by some terminal bits and whilst paying they told me it was 15% off my bill so that was quite nice. -
This is one of the hardest things to work out. I have gone to a venue, Started with just bags, introducing a few baits every so often and having no joy, got to a point where im about to get my head down and thought, Sod it, i will give it 10 spombs.....then got bites whilst spodding or shortly after. Sometimes the little and often approach can cost u fish, Its really hard to work out how much u should be putting in, knowledge of the lake and the stock help. On my current venue is to start with solid bags, If nothing happens for an hour or so, Give them ten spods, then play it by ear, If i can hear jumping, I would probably top up and redo the bags after a few hours. My sessions are short so i have to force the issue a little, I know they respond to the sound of the spod, I know they move around in decent groups. If i get one, 3 spods straight back over the top, stay active, Keep catching. On my last venue, no spod, solid bags, 100 boilies in the stick over each rod....pray.
-
All depends on the situation. As my sessions are all at night and at relatively close range (under 10 wraps) im spodding chops and corn over solid bags. Longer range where im trying to be quiet.....or 2 lazy for the spod the i will use the throwing stick. I dont use the catapult...the one i currently own is just turd...its a fox one i believe and i just cant get on with it.

Without a doubt. I was amazed by how bent the tip was and i wonder how it got so bent.....I wonder if it would stop the hook coming out should a snap happen.
-
I use Korda Kurvs, Have absolutely no problem with them, I dont tend to lose many fish, never had one snap and they i think they hold the point pretty well. I do use a hook for a good number of fish as well. I have also started using the Ridge Monkey Beak points and Kurvs and have also found them very good but no noticable difference from the korda hooks in terms of performance. 1 thing i would say, I tried the Korda Kamuma or whatever they are called hooks, Caught a fish, Hook was completely blunt and bent after...Stopped using them. As i say im happy to use 1 hook multiple times. And on a low stock venue the Kamuma right be the right choice, But on the lake im currently fishing, which is pretty high stocked i will stick the the "normal" hooks. Im fishing solid bags on an inline set up....You can usually tell fairly well when you have been done. Whilst a lot of people wont agree. I have used 6 rigs in rotation (because they are solid bags). over the last 2 nights and have banked 20 fish not including bream, The hooks still seem fine, Sharp enough to piece me. I will change them soon...

Where are you getting them at that price mate?
