Yep , I will give it a bash , there are a few places where I need to " hold bottom " in the flow where I'm going to use around 4 - 10 oz pebbles , easy = good , and it doesn't get much easier than wrapping a bit of plasticine round your swivel !

CM , what about clay , where I fish its easy to get hold of a bit of clay , is with a lot of waters , I haven't looked at Chillys drop off , how old is it ?

I know its not a perfect test , better than nowt, you can notice the difference between hooks , I pull back using just the tip of my index finger !

absolutely chilly , everytime I go out I check everything ,tackle wise , I have only been let down by hooks over the last few years ,

I often search the images of carp hooks , to see if there is anything new out and to check the gauge of steel etc , I check them firstly by giving them the flex test by hand , then its in the vice and I have a 4 inch piece of steel tube that I pass down over the point , to the bend , then I pull the tube back to see how much pressure it takes to bend the hook , I obviously check the basics before I make my rigs , sharp burs on the eye , and I will sharpen if necessary ,

when I open a new pack I will test one of the hooks , always now , every pack one gets sacrificed , if someone brought a hook out and could guarantee it wouldn't open out I would part with £10 for 10 , even more ! when you look at the money with all your tackle , bait , prebaiting , and that feeling when you loose a big un after all that time and effort , so demoralising !

I have learnt from experience to test a hooks strength before it is put to use and if I feel its not strong enough , I do not hesitate , they go in the reject tub !

I have talked to so many people who say they cant find a hook they have a good level of confidence in , I cant understand ! , surely a hook manufacturer looks through forums or has enough knowledge to know that its worth taking a punt on making something that will be up to it ! I have lost around 4 or 5 good size fish over the last 3 years through hooks opening out or snapping

do you reckon that it would be possible to warm with a blow torch till " cherry " red then bend it without loosing strength of the hook

so , is there a must buy hook this year , I'm looking at Gamakatsu G super snag , or the RX , or if the fox SSBP is still what it was then that could tempt me ! I do like the straight points ! yep , its below the belt , why produce a large carp hook , size 2 or 4 or even an 8 when its week , I changed to a certain brand 2 years ago and the first fish on snapped my hook , , ive bent a few in the last few years but never snapped one , I don't think ever before , someone said it was a bad batch , they were just way too thin , I should of clocked it but I listened to a recommendation , I think they would of been fine for the fishery that the recommendation came from , but not for an angry river carp !

Bring back the terraces ,I can remember being on Burnden park when there was 51000 on when I was a nipper , even when we were in the old 4th division there was more of an atmosphere than the soulless reebock/ macron ! I hate the place , a soulless characterless , clinical , modern stadium , the only good point I would make for it is that the view is not restricted by pillars or posts anywhere, there was nothing better than jumping up n down for a minute when your team score then having to find your mates again and your were kept warm in winter like sardines !

could be a winner with the sock ball , i will remember that , she has grown out of it now though , puppy teething thing ! i must admit though i think her favourite chew in the whole world is worn womens knickers , if any end up on the floor they get the crotch area chewed out and that part of them are never seen again , she has taken the odd pair from the washing basket ! doesnt bother with male undies ! I have heard an old fisherman i know talk about salmon fishing and how a group of well seasoned salmon fishemen would use their wives period soaked knickers to attract salmon ! just a fishy story are what ?

whilst renovating a kids nursery we stumbled upon this on vynil, we had some council officials inspecting the place so we put this on as it summed their knowledge (on building )up perfectly ,the muppets so , after a fairly recent high profile court case on copying music , are they as similar ! blurred lines i think was by robin look at me !
