  6. after abusing the majority of my joints by being in the building trade for the last 30 years , im looking at buying something comfy to sleep on , the last bed chair i used nearly crippled me end was binned after 3 nights in favour of a reclining chair , im hoping that there is something around for someone with a slightly dodgy back as im doing some serious carpy sessions this year !

  18. any rivers in the Lot Dordogne region , anywhere i can find em !
  19. find some slow water , dam, i dont fancy your chances in fast water , dont think im your man really as my rods dont come out on my local rivers round Bolton in winter as there aint much there , in summer when im in France they will be out again , but my summer fishing tactics , mainly in the margins / snags are completely unsuitable in fast water , your wasting time and money throwing any freebies into moving water , at best you might get a few bits stuck between rocks and pebbles , if thats what the bottom is , if you find a good size deep hole , trough on the river bottom and you can land some bait in it , you could be onto a winner , simple rigs , big leads , warm clothes and a big flask of hot stuff ! must admit im waiting for some clear crisp winter mornings to do a bit of dead baiting for pike ! Good luck !
  20. Hi Brugge ,as carpmachine says , i do a bit of river fishing in France ! can i be of assistance ?
  21. i have used similar with a tarpaulin and bungies
  22. the thing with where i usually find myself fishing , is that to be successful i must remain as still and silent as possible , i have caught the majority of my fish in the past few years by locating them then getting as close as possible ,when located , i will often tempt them down the margins with a few tasty tit bits , i dont want to be tying rigs , i just have a few prepared with a long or short hair then a couple varying in length from 7 -14 inch, wrapped around a 4 inch length of 50mm pipe lagging , on the few occasions i have had to change rigs when there have been fish around i have been able to do so quickly without to much disturbance , oh yes , i will always take a hand saw to new places and my home made drag , which consists of 3 lengths of ally scaffold tube (chopped down to 8 ft ), 2 connecting clips and a very strong tarmac rake which bolts into the end of an ally tube ( through pre drilled holes ) .all of the above gear can be carried on my little kayak ! i have caught most of my fish from swims that others overlook ! And dont forget the polarised glasses , essential , i always make sure i have one hand free whilst scurrying round on river banks
  23. my gear / 1 or 2 short stalking rods , set up then split in half , landing net and pole pole wrapped up in my carp mat and all held tight with a bungie , i then have a butty box with a few essential bits in, leads , scissors , hooks , hook sharpener , a short length of pipe lagging (insulation ) with a few rigs wrapped round , this is chucked in my rucksack with a bit of bait , flask ,butties and my scales ! ! greatly needed addition for next year will be a small piece of foam / sponge , as i have so many times had numb backside for hours , carp mat isnt quite thick enough !
