One of the best ways to cut your gear back is use an air matress instead of a bed chair. Used to do a 20 mile round trip on a push bike when I was younger the biggest challenge was food and water supply's luckily there was a shop towards the end of the journey so used to get supplys when I was almost at the venue.

Esp syncro XT loaded mono.
liamclose replied to adamkitson's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Used it for 6 weeks took it off its great to begin with but the line twist I was getting was something else. Yes I do you use clutch which creates twist but some line are better than others when it comes to twist but syncro is one of the worst I've ever used. On Gardener gt80 on all the same qualities with out the the twist problems. -
Whats the point in a bait runner reel?
liamclose replied to phildalton1982's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Just personal choice you not going to land more or less fish using one or the other. If you don't use a bait runner correctly you properly not going to use a normal reel correctly either you can use a bait runner locked up if need be. There no rule saying you have to engage the bait runner anyway. I personally prefer normal reels for carp but use bait runners for pike. -
No because it's not a fishing line it's to thin to fish with so I wouldn't and i wouldnt go out my way to be blatant but any line collects debris so weather you use fox camo, wychwood, or esp what ever it doesn't matter. Im much more concerned about how abrasive resistant the line is.

Doesn't matter what colour your line is as debris collects on it and with in an hour all lines look identical coverd in a layer of grime.

I fish alot of silty lakes and it's one of the easiest bottoms to fish over. Firstly the fish give away ware there feeding more than any other bottom. I useally use a lead clip rig length depends on alot of things just like on any other bottom. On one really silty estate lake I fished I done well on short hook links I only used short hooklinks because nobody else did. I do use helicopters occasionally never had any problems if I put it in the right spot it screams off and the fish are useally nailed. Used helicopter fair bit last winter had no problems. Do prefer helicopters in light silk weed or if it's very shallow and very shallow I use helicopters rig. Just look for fizzing or showing fish use a simple set up keep the disturbance down use bait and rigs you have confidence with on other lakes and you will catch in silt it's defonately not something to worry about.

No rig will work alk the time that's obvious in fact any rig will get done over majority of the the I use the silicon style blow back rig for majority of my fishing rarely use chod. But for as long as your relying on the fish to prick it's self then give us some sort of indication they will have the upper hand. If I'm sight fishing and can watch the fish pick the bait up I'll strike as soon as the bait enters the fishes mouth and hook them 9 times out of ten. if I wait for the fish to react all to often they just blow the bait out it doesn't matter what rig you use. It's simple to find an edge these days by makeing things even simpler how many people do you see useing worm, free lineing bread float fishing obviously this isn't always practical but they can be massive edges in the right situation. As I said if the elastic rig works for you great keep useing it but I couldn't care less who advocates it a simple rig has always worked for me everywhere I've fished.
-
It does for me as long as I get the most impotant things right. The biggest edge you can have is water craft if you hooks sharp the fish are willing to except what you put on the hair or the hook you pretty much there as long as you can find them. The most consistent anglers are the anglers that Consistantly get there location right it's what separates the best from the rest. A simple rig will always catch fish it's noing how to optimise simple rigs that makes the difference hair length, rig length hook pattern ect so even a simple rig needs thought and expeirence tells you when to ring these changes. Adding elastic and adding bells and whistles just means there more to go wrong keep it simple and keep watching the lake stay on the fish and you will catch them. If useing elastic works for you then fair play but could never see my self useing such a rig.

Just keep things simple.

Sounds like a plan. Never really used amnesia I've got spool sumware must have had it 10 years it's still full.
-
You making some special rigs ready for Sunday.ha ha.
-
If you snip to hook and just pull out the shank then are you not leaving the point of the hook in the fish?
-
A knotless knot hair rig has always been consistant and realible for me but although simple its the tweakes to suit the situation make simple rigs so effective ie long hair, short hair, big hook, small hook, soft material stiffer material blow back or fixed hair understanding when to ring these changes will out fish all these bells and whistle rigs all day long Imo.

Looks awful wouldn't even entertain casting that out. Just keep things simple.

A slack line doesn't help indication but imo a semi slack line does because you have a drop on your indicator there for it has more travel upwards with a tight line it has hardly any travel upwards so indicator can not do what it's there for which is move up and down. I don't no what you base your theory of fish using big leads to throw hooks threw many hours if watching fish feed over baited rigs the fish gets away with picking rigs up before the lead even moves no matter what lead set up used bit when they do make a a mistake a bolt rig nails them. Carp arnt the most subtle of fish when hooked anyway reading some posts on here you would think carp hardly move when nailed which does happen occasionally but even so even a fish that doesn't give a vicious take still gives indication bolt rig or not. Generally carp takes are savage or mine are anyway we not fishing for bream or roach.

Possibly they are fishing slack lines with back leads although i dont see many people fishing this way. Do they have a drop on there swingers if so then they might be. The reason i fish semi slack with bk leads is because even when using back leads line can still be off the bottom unless the lake bed is perfectly flat which very few are. Secondly if you dont have a drop on the indicator it carnt indicate properly and its my opinion that semi slack lines offer more indication anyway. You will notice how i mention semi slack apposed to slack line. The difference between a semi slack and a completely slack line is massive doesnt give any advantage to fidh real slack it gives poor indication and offers no advantages imo. But like all things in carp fishing there always some who have to take things to such an extreme it becomes detromental to there angling. As for tangles with lead clips foam, stringers ect stop that i use supple hook links majority of the time never have issues with tangles.

Yea still get indication on drop backs if you use the rigjt indicator and set it properly. I use semi slack lines with fox swinger arms if you get a drop bk you get a couple of bleeps which isnt alot but its enough to get your attention, you have a couple of bleeps tighten swinger if its wont tighten you no you had drop back. 99 times out of hundred the takes are savage anyway. Personally im gutted slack lines have become main stream it was a massive edge up until around 6 or 7 years ago and people would look at you like you were a loo. Now them very same people are useing slack lines.
-
Completely agree.

You dont always want to listen to your teachers NM because there talking rubbish. Semi slack lines semi fixed rigs is what i use for majority of my fishing. Semi slack lines increase indication no matter what your lead set up is because haveing a drop on your indicator gives it more travel which allows it to do what its meant to which is indicate. Sometimes i use semi slack lines back leads and semi fixed leads your teachers would proberly say thats stupid but my album says different.
