  1. well gave it as long as I could gents but no snow carp .... it was getting over 2ft deep on the track out so was time to make a start on the long journey home , would of stayed longer if i could of but needed to get back to the family. started slowly as we couldn't get up the hill out of the lake lol . But a bit of graft on the shovel & we were soon on our way. loved it
  2. come on the carp
  3. yeah just the way it goes ... still just good to be out Ian ... bit of a social as well as a good friend is in the peg to my right & hopefully Nige will be able to pop down for a catch up . not shows Bird life ... there are fish moving about but silver's & toothy critters, may get the lure rod out & some point .
  4. hope to see you later on though mate? I can see me having issues trying to leave tomorrow with even more snow forecast , left Kate with 4×4 I'm in the old van lol
  5. morning all ... reels & alarms frozen solid going to change all three on to zigs today & give that a go I reckon. forecast is for a lot more snow so getting home could be interesting tomorrow !
  6. was exactly the same setting up at midnight last night mate ... got a sweat on getting everything to the peg, nothing worse when it's Baltic as you really can get cold if your not to careful once you stop . won't lie its a chilly one tonight lol
  7. well the old girls acting like a puppy again in the snow
  8. looks a cracking Dog.... sad to hear he's gone , my old girl is getting on now . took her to a chiropractor the other day to try & help her out a bit get her moving a bit easier .
  9. (leggs007 old member ) . Will have a look for it at some point mate .
  10. never fished that complex Kev.... I know Mick rates it .
  11. Does it echo when you break wind
  12. walking like you've had a day in the saddle by any chance kev
  13. think the yellow strap are 700e just a slightly newer model with upgraded pvc white straps are 600 d . I use mine in my river clearing snags underwater trees really tough material very impressed with what they withstand I must admit . mine are the 700 e but shouldn't think there's much in it . do the 600 d have an internal pocket kev?
  14. probably a really good move Gary ... yet another water park carp lost to an otter. this could of quite easily of come from your pit you were fishing , dragged from a lake into the river churn .
  15. sound ideal Gary .... does it have sailing boats on buy any chance?
  16. No probs kev... best of luck
  17. never tried using a hair rig for them ... but can see it working, they feed differently to pike, more of a bite to injure the fish to then eat it . I would go with the single hook approach . when I was fishing for them it didn't normally take to long if they were in the area , 45 mins would be as long as I would wait before a move . give popping up a bait a go .... have it wafting about on a 2ft length.
  18. you will need a trace kev .... you can either make some up to a single hook or trebbles, both will catch . back when I fished for Zander popping up a dead bait was deadly . I just used foam stuffed down into the dead bait . they definitely shoal up too mate so fish through the smaller ones if needs be .
  19. not seen that one before just had a look , there seems a few more on the market since I last looked . Will see what my mate stocks .
  20. it's because the odds are stacked against you ...that you are chomping at the bit . good news about the ring
  21. fantastic bit of kit mate ... spooning a rig out on the money & tight baiting on those margin spots is a real winner in my eyes . always fills me with confidence , I need to get a longer one myself for my syndi next year plenty of possibilities on there with one .
  22. going off cold now Gaz .... should think your in for a crisp night & morning . sunrise over a frosty lake .... magic
  23. not the weather you thought Gary .good frost in the Cotswolds this morning & sunny blue skies. tight lines
  24. perhaps start with lighter leads say 2 oz even miss timing one your 15lb line will take the strain . Your get used to leaning into the cast & getting your weight forward onto your front leg & then casting. as you get into a grove step the weight up . I really don't think you should need a leader for 120 & 15lb line especially sensor pretty tough so I here .
