  1. I reckon you could be right ... I looked & looked again before posting lol 👀
  2. Doesn't that mean you've been cloned ? Or does the different colours mean you can have the same plate ? .... smufter ?
  3. Well ended up finishing earlier that was planned as they started spawning late morning . So reeled in & left them to it . I must take the boys more often as both times I've had a goodun in the night
  4. Sounds like some great fishing BC 😎
  5. Your not wrong muft ... it's been silly hot at times this year , month or so back was melting on the trowel at work lol .
  6. Had a bit of rain earlier Shropshire/ Welsh border & trying to start a bit now overcast all day though & a chance of a storm in the coming hours .... should be fun with the boys & the dog lol The lake is flat calm & looks proper moody .
  7. On holiday with the family.... the farmhouse we booked happend only to be half an hour from the syndi , so promised to take my boy & his older cousin for a 24hr + . Finally got pretty much everything set up now. Rowed my baits out on to some spots, & nice helping of bait over each rod . They had the float & maggots out while I set up camp My boys first eel There demanding food now so better crack on lol !
  8. Yes have heard that.... this one hadn't gone for the zig just swam through & the branches had caught my line . Wasn't my fish the zig was hooked to the branches it was trailing .
  9. What you learned on the small rivers applies just the same as on bigger just scaled up . The little stretch of river I own the first time I started to fish it , I just applied what I had learned on other rivers & was straight into fish . From my experience though once you change to big deep wide waterways like the lower Severn etc it almost can revert to lake tactics , looking for deeper holes on what can be mostly a featureless bottom & filling it in & without doubt the bank & marginal shelf is the biggest feature especially when the rivers are carrying more water . Do miss the river fishing , just not enough time to fit it in at the moment. Just hope there will be fish to go back to. otters are hard at work on all my old haunts!
  10. I know a few spots mate .... I've taken members off here before to catch there first barbel . Only takes a pm 🎣
  11. The Wye isn't beyond anyone mate .... walk ...walk some more find a likely glide & give it a go . In some respects fast flowing natural rivers un- navigable by boats are easier to read & can be quite obvious where you need to be fishing for the specimens. For example you might have a mile of very shallow fast rocky water with only one channel for specimen fish to use across the whole width of the river .... or a deeper stretch between two shallow runs always a likely spot . All you do is keep finding & fishing until you find the best bit of the stretch available to you , then it's happy days 😎
  12. Didn't get to give it much of a go in the end though sir in my memory serves me right? River carping can be a real labour of love at times . Personally I must try & get on the Wye this year been far to long 😎
  13. Good to see your out fishing Buzz 😎
  14. After catching a 40 lb + & an upper 30 cat last year on my carp gear , I'm of the thinking that I needed every bit of power my 3.25 torrix could muster to slow there powerful runs down still couldn't stop them so had to play them through a big lillie bed . If I hadn't of been fishing a snag line & tubing probably would of been a different outcome than both ending up in the net . My last outing on the lake had me hook up a cat fish while fishing zigs . It was trailing a leader a load of line & a bunch of branches, & had smashed up a fellow member the night before . Managed to land it somehow ...also an upper 30 . If I was to target them especially bigger ones , i would step up . otherwise I reckon over time your leave a lot of trailing cat fish .
  15. Nice Was also looking at some of the tournament range from daiwa . Can end up going round in circles though 😲
  16. Those the obese with gold spools Those the one's with gold spools ?
  17. Lol .... yonny I'm surprised you haven't changed your br's. Considering how much you like to shed weight . I weighed my br's & the combined weight of all 3 came two just shy of 2 tonnes
  18. Appreciate the heads up sharpy 😎 What washer config did you end up with BC?
  19. Thanks BC.... must admit there are my favourites at the moment . A hell of a lot of reel for the money... imo 😎
  20. Sorry to hear that.... on limited fishing time like we all seem to have, you certainly want to be somewhere you want to be .
  21. Can get the c14+ model for £200 per reel I will probably sell my br's as they still fetch decent money second hand, should pay for more than half the cost of the new ones depending what I go for. How you getting on with the new water Gaz ?
  22. Come on then lads .... Looking at getting some new reels . Had infinities br's for donkeys now & fancy a big pit that's a fair bit lighter . Budget 200 - 300 £ per reel Do like the look of the ultegra c14+ & the power areo models . Any input & reviews very welcome 😎
