  1. Just know what it's like when you have a trade .... lost count of the holidays in this country where I've taken tools
  2. Sounds spot on Ian 😎 You , wait there want some wrought iron gates & railings made πŸ˜‚
  3. I don't bother with any either .... get the odd bite , normally on the fore head in the morning lol
  4. And so it proved to be mate .... I just knew we would concede when he made the changes & sat deeper . Columbia were disgusting all game & the ref was weak . But we got through what could possibly be the toughest game until the final ? Dare we dream lol
  5. Hard hooker & tiger nut on the hair left me a whittled down bait in the morning , which was picked up by the fish in my avatar . So even if you are getting nailed by them there are ways around it so your still fishing come morning .
  6. Creys are a nightmare on the water park , I had a result feeding the creys tight to the bank then fishing a metre or so down the shelf . Gave me just enough rest bite to get a take . Don't think your feed them off though mate your just encourage more (imo )
  7. My thoughts on lines & the way I go about choosing them is in pairs . No one line can do everything , there will always be a compromise, which could cost you a good fish . I personally have spools for snag fishing & short to medium range , & spools for distance fishing where a casting line is needed .
  8. I've been getting the same message on Android so it's not just iphone. Sometimes if you just try again it works second time round . Had to do the screenshot trick myself though too .
  9. I had a look at the exocet a few years back ... after opening one up in the shop & having a feel etc I personally thought it marked far to easily & would offer very little resistance to abrasion of any sort. So didn't bother with it . Not used or seen the HD .
  10. Unlucky mate .... roll on August for both of us then 😎
  11. Don't think I would ever have a complete cut off point muft , it's more about what I think would be the best chance of catching these showing fish & I lean towards zigs these days . Nige worked for a fish at horseshoe & worked out it was a short zig needed just above the weed , so it's just about finding that perfect depth sometimes .
  12. So what's your preferred approach in reaction? I personally would be fishing zigs in deeper water , if it was under 8ft deep might start thinking bottom bait.
  13. Loving my new power barrow lol Proper prebaiting πŸ˜‰
  14. Real shame you both couldn't make it Ian. When I was up at Mick's he mentioned it was due to a family wedding. Regarding the first venue .... the owners basically shut the lake until further notice . Due to the fact the manager was on the take from what I understand. Apparently we were one of the lucky bookings as are deposit had been plyed into lake account & not the managers ! So we got the deposit back . It did reopen not long after but Iberian had already sorted the new venue , which I'm far happier with. Longer journey but hopefully it will be worth the effort for us all .
  15. Driving gagna... Looking at around 10 hours on the road + the ferry crossing . Look forward to seeing some more river catches from you soon then 😎
  16. Getting in amongst them BC 😎 I find myself swapping my line these days ..... if I need distance then the suffix synergy spools go on But anything under 120 y & it's the hydro tuff that yonny put me on to , can't fault it for snaggy waters.
  17. Thanks Rob ... they do seem to push the house bait ( but then again who wouldn't) I'll be taking 50 - 60 k of baitworks finest , popped into the factory a while back & sorted a price for a bulk deal as I'm picking a bit up for others too . It does appear that fish come out all over the lake been following catches on fb .... you only have to look at that overhead peg map to see why . Not long now & your be heading off across the channel .... 😎
  18. Like you say ... eventually the dominant gene will take over & you will end up with all commons .so if you start off will all commons the chances of ending up with mirrors is highly unlikely .
  19. Franks take on it.... think it backs up what I said ?
  20. Hi & welcome to the forum. From my understanding if you have only common carp, then they can't have partially scaled offspring ( mirror) .
  21. Heading over the channel for the first time in a couple of months. A group of us are going for a mates 50 th , we had to change the venue from the original one booked, But I think to a man we are all more than happy where we've ended up . With the whole lake booked an only ten of us fishing , there will be plenty of opportunity to move or head off stalking etc . Really need to start thinking about getting bait sorted etc as it will soon be August.
  22. Tbf, I had a few glasses of red & obviously the Perry I brought locally was stronger than I thought πŸπŸΊπŸ˜ƒ
