  1. Bin both swivels, like bez said, quik link in clip, then loop or rig ring on hook length, sorted. Or use a quick change swivel , loop on the hook length and a anti tangle sleeve to cover it.
  2. Is it anything like this first pic ? http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=37603
  3. I use the same materials bought for my chod rigs, esp stiff & mouthtrap both in 15lb, i have used coated braids for the boom but prefer the mono, once it's steamed over the kettle it stays quite rigid. Stiffer mono can but a tad fiddly to tie the hair too, as i found making some rigs recently. To make life easier when you fold the line over at the end the hair goes on, slide a large or xl sinker on first, keeping it on both parts of the line, this will hold the loop in place whilst tying the hair on. When the hair is tied slide the sinker up on both parts of the line and over the knot, trim tag end and voila
  4. Rig 1, Just by adding a shot to the hair could turn it into a popup rig, random pic of the web but you get the idea, Rig 2, i'd change the rig ring for a piece of silicone near the bend, then either the shot on the hair or below the hook eye so it sits cocked. Rig 3, is the most versatile i feel, just floss a bait directly to the rig ring then alter the length so it sits tightish on the shank. (google claw pop up / images ) Why the combi on gravel? As ian has said it is virtually invisible and a coated braid may stand out a mile if your guessing at the colour of the bottom and get it wrong. HTH jay
  5. From delkims f.b page; 6 jan 2014 We are pleased to announce that the Tx-i Plus has been voted the best bite alarm by the readers of Total Carp for the 3rd time in a row. It is a wonderful award to receive and it shows that all the effort and attention to details that goes into all our products is recognised. Happy New Year to you all and thanks to everyone that voted for us.
  6. I plucked four from my rig box. 1st is suffix coated braid in 20lb, simple knotless knot , looks like a size 8 wide gape but will work with most hook patterns. 2nd is the suffix again , 2 inches stripped back tied to a rig ring with a uni knot, this simply goes down through the eye of the hook and the shrinktube holds it in place, making the hair adjustable in length. The rig ring will pull down to the eye during the fight and was strong enough to land me a mid 20. 3rd, is a blowback combi rig using 15lb fluro , and stripped suffix for the hair, size 6 widegape. 4th is a hinged stiff rig tied with 15lb mouthtrap. Obviously the first three are bottom rigs but could be made into wafter / popup rigs with slight adjustments. I'd use all of these on silty areas but if fishing on gravel would swap to the fluro combi.
  7. This is looking interesting . I take it thats a bottom bait ? yes mate , tie one, but only if you advocate using fake baits psss have you seen those maggot balls, wowsers
  8. Too fiddly for my sausage fingers, i've just tried it I've tried similar using shrinktube which works ok, even leaving the coating on some braids works but fiddly tying the hair, how about this for the less dexterous ?

  10. Chods don't work......really ..ask stoogi
  11. Anyone tried their local health centre. I walked in and asked for some new needles/syringes and they gave me a box of 10 Did'nt mention they were for fishing though

  13. I use 20lb ESP stiff bristle on occasions. I've tried this knot because i could'nt tie the knotless on smaller hooks (8-10's)because of the eye size, still struggled because i'm all thumbs so seeking a simpler solution i came up with this.. Hth jay
  14. Mainly coated braid, 6-8" long, longer if on silt but i may change to a combi rig for that, some pics on this thread http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=53082&highlight=rigbox+ocd
  15. Interesting.. http://www.carp-fishing-tactics.com/image-files/spinning-hook-method.jpg
  16. Try one change at a time or you'll never know what the problem was. I'd start by removing the silicone from the bend and see how that fairs, that type of rig has never worked well for me, Simple knotless knot for bottom rigs
  17. I've been using it for a couple of months now in 12lb, sits nicely on the spools (wychwood exorcists), casts well enough to the 100yd mark even though most of my fishing is half that range, wasn't sure on the colour after using fluro and my current lake is very clear, but fishing it slack they obviously can't see it as i've had 9 fish in two outings including a pb common, overall very happy with it and would use it again hth jay
  18. Good luck to you all, look forward to some great pics on your return
  19. I like the knot but I am obviously being thick here because I still don't understand how to put the D in? It'll leave you a hair/tag that will go down the eye for the D, tie one, you'll see how easy it is
  20. perfection loop knot http://videofishingknots.com/perfection-loop.html does'nt sit on one side like the figure eight, much neater.
  21. Not sure it would work for a 'D' rig as you've already doubled up the line to tie the knot so having room for a third through the eye seems unlikely and it'll sit wrong with the knot below the shank. Have a look at the snell knot, does'nt use the eye like a knotless and it'll put the 'D' where you need it http://www.gofishing.co.uk/Angling-Times/Section/Videos/All-Coarse-Videos/Videos-Search-Results/Techniques/How-to-tie-the-Snell-hook-knot/
  22. Any use ? http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=53383
  23. You could use a knot that doesn't require using the eye some say stronger that a knotless too Used to tie spade ends years ago like this http://www.gofishing.co.uk/Angling-Times/Section/Videos/All-Coarse-Videos/Videos-Search-Results/Techniques/How-to-tie-the-Snell-hook-knot/
  24. It depends how you tie your rigs, if you use a loop or a rig ring then push a stringing needle through the mesh then pull back through, keeps the hook hidden and fairly taffle free. http://fishtec.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/mesh.jpg
  25. Here's the blokes version http://twitter.com/50shedsofgrey
