  1. Or companies try to figure out what else can be added that they can sell
  2. Welcome hairy, you'll get loads of suggestions for bait - good luck and enjoy your time there.
  3. Welcome Weeing Steve; now there's one the stinky winky editor missed
  4. Should have seen that one :doh!: Although thinking about it, I've walked around Boddington with the dogs a few times and seen plenty of scissor sharpeners
  5. I've got around 8 pairs of scissors of various shapes and sizes strewn throughout my tackle in various bags and boxes used for where they're needed, it's the only way that I've found that I can reliably find a pair when I need them Being the tight wad that I am, (and will also hide under the tree that I hug) I begrudge coughing up £5 when I've already coughed up £5 for a pair of scissors that should be perfectly serviceable. That said, the main reason I want to sharpen them is because even though I've got several pairs, it's always when you just want to snip a tag end or some such (especially braid) and the darn things won't cut it but hack it, with an on-bank sharpener I can rely on being able to sharpen the scissors and snip away to my hearts content It's a shame that I don't drink fizzy drinks often as I would then have a good supply of sharpeners.
  6. Carp.com strikes again with a vast range of surprising ways and means Foil and Wool, wow, who'd of thought to cut foil and wool to see if it would sharpen their cutting device
  7. Any recommendations? I've been looking, there's quite a range available; does anyone sharpen scissors or just get new ones?
  8. Have you been talking to my wife? Until very recently, all of my terminal tackle was kept in [empty][clean] ice-cream tubs. I think I was happier with it in those rather than the purpose made tubs I've bought to replace them. I did consider going back to using ice-cream tubs, but they just aren't made the same these days - too flimsy, not very big, unfortunate shapes, lids that don't fit and most are clear (letting sunlight in).
  9. £21 for a bank stick is not going to improve my fishing, in fact I think it would make it worse as I wouldn't want to scratch them or get them muddy or be scared that someone would want to knick them. Worst of all, I might get called a tackle tart
  10. Try to contact them, don't know how much it was, but it should do what you want. Can you send it back?
  11. Pellet waggler, fished pellet waggler style might work. Use one of your lighter rods if you have one, just keep catapulting (or throwing) a few pellets in to get the fish up in the water, fish your hook bait around 1 metre (3ft) deep to begin with and keep adjusting the depth (normally shallowing up) until you find them, 12mm pellets should keep the smaller fish out of the way. It's a fun and very active way of fishing, and you can often see the activity of the fish coming up in the water, do not entertain the idea if wildlife is a problem since you will only train the wildlife to eat all of your bait. Pellet wagglers are short stumpy things so you can fish really shallow. I prefer loaded ones so that the pellet c ocks the float. 6 and 8g cast really well, but if you're using a heavy rod, you might want a slightly heavier one - obviously depending on distance fished.
  12. I've only just noticed that there isn't an 'n' in kickers Having looked at them though, are they pants?
  13. Didn't know you could catch them over here
  14. Are boats allowed NM? Can anyone identify this species? I gotta go there now to catch one Must be the future of angling and the shape of things to come for us.
  15. Good luck Neal, enjoy and bag a biggun
  16. We're a funny superstitious lot over here; I wouldn't go fishing without my lucky socks on or bibbing my car horn three times before leaving the village - that's the short version. Think a few team managers will be visiting Stonehenge and Glastonbury this coming solstice.
  17. Properly prepared: Chick peas Kidney Beans Butter Beans Maple peas(they do bird food (seed) as well) Barley (from same place as maple peas) Maize Red skin or blanched Peanuts when properly prepared and used in moderation can also be a good bait, overuse can cause more harm than good. Look here for preparation guide and other ideas for particles Ready to go Cheese Peas Sweetcorn Jelly type sweets Just needs mixing Cat meat paste (tinned cat food mixed with semolina) Bread paste Cheese paste
  18. Welcome Joe, as Nick said good write up
  19. Unlucky Neal, but learning a water is part of the fun imo
  20. I think Wet Spam and a few others have helped to shake up the league, they are playing entertaining football that money can't buy, I think it's great and about time.
  21. Nice shots there dayvid, I like the look of the overgrown lake, do you still get there and is it still the same 10 years later?
