  1. I've got myself a bucket of stinky bag mix; milky min pellets, green lipped muscle, belachan, Liquid robin red and blue cheese powder oh and ridiculously expensive "specialized hookbaits" (got to say they smell and taste incredible and great customer service so I'm happy so far) if I don't catch the next step will be electro fishing and dynamite!!!!
  2. Defo stay the night if you can, is imagine Sunday afternoon / evening or weekdays would be the best times to go anyway, as the place very much has weekend syndrome. As I say don't set your heart on a swim. I imagine the slightly warmer weather will pack out the place! Well ill be there from 6am so will let you know how it's looking there definitely seems to be a trend for a mid to late afternoon feeding spell so an afternoon wouldnt be a bad thing
  3. Spr do it ! Be warned it will be busy, I'll be there if there's swims ill text you and let you know. If it's full I'll go to blassford hill which is near by
  4. Tim perfect! Thank you, very happy to be proved wrong! Yes those are the ones Simon Scott. I'll eat my words and email Carpology see where I can get the full articles
  5. It is odd isn't it gagna! Serious flaw in an Industry if the majority of products aren't trusted!! Anything fishing related if it is genuinely a top product I would happily pay top dollar, but it is a lot of hearsay and opinion. Confidence is worth a big price tag. It'd be great to find a reviewer that did genuine and honest like for like tests . (I may even try it myself!) I found a Carp mag article testing baits all I can find was an article where baitworks let their boilies be tank tested. Best advert ever!! Maybe there was other baits tested but I can't find the articles, anyone else see it? But where are the other companies putting their wares up against others? Would be great to see the top carp companies have a match, independent judges, they use their own gear, I wonder how many would be confident enough to enter without pulling strokes?
  6. Oh yes I will let you know if I get to skip church and go on a Sunday
  7. I'll have to see how it goes re the Polaris, I do like watching a float, but I'd do the same and probably miss bites!
  8. Crusian - I ask myself the question of how I ended up married to a Christan quite often! I'm sure she pretended to be normal until we were married
  9. I know, I was silly, meant to have a cast about before I left, maybe I'll learn next time!!
  10. Spr sounds like a plan, I'll pm you my mobile and make sure I pack an extra chair and a mug
  11. am currently making version 2 of my home made fixed back leads, ready for my next outing. Thinking same spots with either back leads as before or maybe a polaris ledger float, to keep line up out of any weed and I don't think the carp would be familiar with vertical line so may work, annnnnd I can use a relatively light lead and get the depths without causing to much disturbance [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12]
  12. Spr - I saw that post, when people get it right they get it very right!! A catch like that chap is beyond my dreams!
  13. I'm out on the 19th have managed to negotiate a day session every three weeks[emoji4] my wife drives a hard bargain, she is a regular church goer and I am a definite nonbeliever. I have agreed to cook breakfast at the church every Sunday after fishing!!! Argh! The cost of carp fishing [emoji17] [emoji17] (actually not that bad, my wife is happy and I get bacon rolls and as much coffee and cake that I can eat, and of course I'll have to miss the service to clean the kitchen [emoji6] ) Spr / Crusian if our fishing days ever coincide I'd happily share a swim if Bayes is busy!
  14. Advice please chaps, I think this may be a simple answer that I'm about to answer myself... but here goes... On my next venture out do I just go back to the same swim, cast to the same spots where I had my aborted runs (but this time make sure my rigs are working!) I know weather and circumstances will probably be quite different, but it is the area I've most success in so far and unless I see decent signs of fish elsewhere does this make a sensible starting point? Considering my original casts in this area were educated guesses, I did no leading or marker rod stuff for fear of spooking fish so I couldn't say with much certainty what I'm fishing on other than probably silkweed.
  15. Nice !!! You could mould oils/ flavours into plasticine also
  16. Great stuff chaps!! yonny I would go with size 4 krank is poo! I thinks it isn't strong enough for the size of the gape, the 8's and 10's seem a lot better.
  17. I survived! No carp for me, or anyone else (from what I could see) so not too bad.
  18. it's going to get ugly if I get a run now!!!!
  19. Cheers Spr, I'll see how it goes! I've got my laptop and lots of work to do so at least I can crack on with that
  20. Ha ha! Crusian, got here at about half 7, most swims gone as predicted I am in the "shallows" it's not quite bright enough for my liking, but the rods are in so the is a chance
  21. Once again cheers, all, snowmanstevo and chillfactor your experiance of your lakes gives me hope!
  22. I think, could be wrong, but the direction of the wind will mean one side of my area will be sheltered and the opposite side will get sun .... so this would present options! Thanks for the input chaps
  23. Oh god no! I'm not there already!! I messaged the bailiff and he said what swims were taken. I'll be there early tomorrow. If there's space I'll fish. If not there's a back up lake down the road I can go to. Either way if I end up in the shallows it'll be good to get an idea of the area for summer as I'll be mainly fishing there! Purely because no one else does!! I've wondered if the shallows are worth a go when it's cold and bright but never been brave enough to break the mould. I will update tomorrow with what happens
  24. They are quite in popular, to be fair there could be some has arrived now so this could all be I vain! But as they aren't desirable in theory I will get a fair area to fish.
