  1. Cheers! If your wary of distance I'd agree with churchwood, looks good, I get the impression you need a boilie boat for the margins, and that they get booked up early! Have you looked at Bentley fishery? If I was Essex for the cost of 72hours fishing I'd join CAPS and fish rookery lake, looks bloomin lovely and I'd bet mid week you have the whole lake... No luxuries though!
  2. http://www.weybreadcarpfishery.co.uk/might be worth a look, your comment of "a rung above novice" made me think it could be suited. I'm not sure where you are based but this is in Suffolk. It's not uber tough but not quite a runs water either, and with a reasonable chance of a 20. All swims bookable with mapped out areas and all have good chance to catch. Mid week you could well have the place to yourself. No showers, but there is a clean toilet with a sink. I've not signed in for ages but your request has got me to so thank you!
  3. Ready for next sessions batch! Joke, my friend has a chicken farm
  4. I guess you've tried the tackle shop in the town? Is there still the garage that sells tickets for the river, they might know? Have a look on tinterweb for your local land registry office. There is a thread on here somewhere about fishing unknowns lakes which has loads of info about finding out owners... Or just wait until salokcinnodrog sees this he probably knows!
  5. Now this is why I love this forum! I've had exactly the same questions swirling around. I'm in suffolk and my regular lake was going crazy literally everyone catching then it went dead... I take it personally as it was when I managed to go that the owner told me nothing out for a couple of days!! I've noticed loads on insects suddenly appearing, especially daddy's.. I know it's the right time for them but wondered if Ol Mr carpy has been feeding up on larve and bugs and more difficult to catch?
  6. You sure that's not just the other side of the first fish!?!
  7. Fraserking - Thank you, I'm good at using super glue and tape, oh and being tight! Catching fish is a different story all together!
  8. Do you mean the place near thetford bivvy? Called Oakwood with big cats, Google says a 14 year old lad caught a 122lb!! I'd be interested to hear the story as well NM - I think the place you mentioned has a Facebook page... http://www.oaklodgefishery.co.uk of this is it there is a FB link at the bottom of the page
  9. Cyborx you are a beautiful man, will pm you shortly thank you, critique away my man! Back to your original question, of what are people's thoughts on the float, I am amazed I don't see more used as I am sure it is the line that spooks prospective surface carp and this idea solves it perfectly and exactly as you've said I don't think, in my small experiance, the fish are too worried about a controller. Also I thought they were a relatively new product from gardener, but my brother has had one from gardener for years! The one I've made, does cast very well and I had no tangles whatsoever Pm on its way (Oh and I'm now off to bed so probably won't reply until tomorrow)
  10. The last thing I need is my boy talking to his teachers about whiskey... I got pulled over today, (no mot!! Argh I am a numpty, newish car and thought it was valid) followed me home, wrote me a ticket, £100 fine!! The copper was pretty good about it all though. Then my wife pulls up, she knows the copper his daughter is in my son's class!! Excellent, playground gossip will be rife!!! Anyway.... My version, tip of an old fly rod, champagne cork, small inline lead, cut to size around bottom of tube and lots of black electrical tape! Think I'll try some of the bakers stuff, will be loosing the chance soon though, not much warmth left!! Cyborx - well done with your session! I've never caught a carp on a fly rod, I bet it's fun!!!
  11. I like it, very neat!! Looks like it would work well
  12. NM as soon as winter kicks in and my lake is empty of anglers I plan to be gizzing every session
