  1. Hi NM Yes I saw the thread title and thought " oh no, what's the bitch done now to our gallant hero ? " . I only know as a Postman I hate little Jack Russell's , snappy , bitey little things , but a lovely Golden Lab. , you'd be hard pressed to find a nasty one . Trouble is I can't help you with your problem , I think Nick is a dog man , and I'm fairly confident that when others get home from work they will be able to help you . Keep ducking and bobbing , and get your jab going .
  2. Thanks Adam , that's given me stuff to think about .
  3. Hi fellas. It's for an old estate lake with patches of silt and little if any weed , NM . I haven't got the Mouthtrap already Neal , just the hook section ( a packet of 3 Chod Rigs ) . I'll steer clear of standard mono. though , thanks .
  4. Hi I thought I would give a HSR a try . I've bought a Korda Chod Rig ( 15b Mouthtrap ) with a Sz. 8 barbless Choddy to save time and cost until I've decided this is the rig for me . So now what to use for the Boom Section ? . If I use 10b mainline ( 0.28mm) do I need to use braid ( and if so any particular braid ) , or shall I just stay mono. straight through to the hook section making the whole rig more anti tangle ? . Ta .
  5. Cold enough for a Perch session yet Stevo ?
  6. I wonder how much Spurs will dominate the first half , but just not put the ball in the net . Then West Ham come out in the second half and win the match . That's " the Spurs way " ! .
  7. Hello NM Are you refering to the match between the gentlemen from North London against those oinks from East London ? .
  8. Hey Tim Watching MOTD , did Andy Carroll think he was Bobby Moore ? ! , and Mr Baldy Beardy - tries to chop a bloke in half and then protests his innocence ! .
  9. Hi Tim Shows you what a proper manager can do ! . How lovely that Arsenal are revving up ahead of the North London Derby - Theo Walcott will probably feel he has a point to prove and score a hat trick ! . Feel sorry for Tim Sherwood , I've always liked him , no p.c. Sound bites , just calls a spade a spade .
  10. Was it only me that had to look up Dropshotting ? . I watched a Des Taylor Youtube video , and all he told you was to use a light spinning rod and small reel - nothing on line strength , hook size , nor how to attach the worm . Mr T also seemed to be gently shaking the rod from side to side as he slowly retreived , but he bother to explain why . I'll look for a better video when I have time .
  11. Thanks fellas . Dal your way of attaching the hook length to the mainline swivel sounds the similar to the way Matchmen attach their hooks to nylon , but I think Matchmen have a loop in their mainline so they are loop to loop ? . Oh , and thanks for prodding me into getting my nuggets out again ! .
  12. Hi NM Yes thanks we're o.k. . Aah different opinions , I'll have to make a decision . I think I'll start with an ordinary swivel tied with a palomar knot to the hook length and see if that cuts down on my occasional tangles .
  13. Hi Adam Just a straight forward Running Rig with a light lead .
  14. What are peoples opinions on whether to tie a Ring Swivel on the end of your hook length or tie a loop onto a normal swivel ? . Ta .
  15. Hi Tim I've just read that Fat Sam is saying in his autobiography that there's no such thing as playing in " The West Ham Way " . i think it may have been when Keith Burkinshaw was Spurs manager I used to love playing West Ham - the ball passed to feet , the game flowing from end to end . Fat Sam just sounds bitter that you Irons never liked him ( except for CM ! ) .
  16. Hi Newmarket Just for Sams' benefit - yeah , who am I kidding it's for mine . Your hair NM is tied with a Knotless Knot ( no KD ) ? . The hair leaves the shank of the hook opposite the point ? . Then if you hold the hook-length up so the boilie dangles below the hook , the 1" measurement you mention is taken from the hook bend to the top of the dangling boilie ? . Ta .
  17. Hello Sam Have I read your opening post correctly ? . Are you using a snowman ? , that's what I thought , and that's what I use . Thanks Hutch I take your point about 1-2cm separation .
  18. Thanks Newmarket , I wasn't being cheeky , I really wanted to read what you had to say . I had something to say , but Hutch beat me to it . All I can do is confirm that when fishing a snowman I lost a small carp which removed the 12mm " top " of the snowman . Also as Hutch says it looks as though your hook link is 10-12" , but Newmarket uses 6-7" . Personally I am confident when my " bottom " boilie - i.e. the 15mm boilie touches the bend of the hook . How long is your hair please Newmarket ? .
  19. Hello Sam Do you have to use barbless hooks where you fish ? . I used to always use barbless , but having changed lake the rules stipulate I have to use micro barbed hooks . I think for me it's a big improvement . I'm looking forward to Newmarkets' reply as I'm having similar problems . Smiley face .

    Aviary .

Hello NM A bit late joining the thread . You expect The Spanish Inquisition , but not that Tarquin's a girl ! . Also I thought it was " the Dove from above " , not " the soppy Dove directly below …... making a nest in a food bowl " .

Hi NM Had to look up Albert Pierrepoint ! . I drink Goats' milk , but fortunately the hair I've still got I'm hanging on to . Yes my wife has a GSOH , even though she's a Chelsea fan , but she comes from Kings Cross so I know not to mess with her .

Hello NM My wife's home now , and she's explained Tarquins' name .

Hello NM What about a Cockerel , you old Iron ? . I think I had a rabbit like your Tarquin ; it was supposed to be a Lop Eared Dwarf , but it grew , and grew , and grew a bit more ., and by then we didn't want to take him back to the pet shop . He was very interested in the lady Guinea Pig when she was in season , but most of the time they lived together quite happily .
  24. Well you got your wish Tim , but you seemed to know Fat Sam was going before it was announced . A serious question as I'm not an Iron , but Spurs fan ; why did West Ham supporters hate Fat Sam - was it because he didn't let West Ham play the way West Ham traditionally played ? .
  25. I was just about to ask the question - " where are the Carp , still in shallowish water , or have they started to slide off to the deeper water , because I can't seem to find them , or if they are where I have cast they are not blinking biting ? " , when I saw this thread . I can't remember who suggested it ( Newmarket ? ) , but 2 out of 3 of my last sessions were with a Northerly breeze , so when what wind there was swung around to the South I thought " this is it " - it wasn't . Usually after a hot , windless August , September brings big South Westerlys that oxgenate the water and shake things up , but apart from Newmarket in " Chicago " ( that'll teach him to live in Essex ! ) I don't remember any big winds . I guess that although it's unseasonably hot , the fish know it's Autumn because of the reduced daylight hours , and so are starting to slow down / stopped dead ! . It's very helpful to learn that I am not alone in my struggles to get a bite , at least it has stopped me fiddling unecessarily with my rig and / or change my bait .
