  1. Well you really are a glass half full kind of guy Neal . When , not if , you succeed you'll have damn well earned it for being so persistent and positive ! . Just make sure you still have some working fingers left !
  2. Nothing from Neal since 4:25 P.M. , I hope the swans haven't eaten him ! .
  3. O.K. Neal , I'm awake , eating my breakfast in my centrally heated house , where's my live update ? .
  4. Roll on tomorrow then ! . Hopefully you'll get some quality sleep ready to concentrate on the lake in the morning . As you say Neal at least you will gather more information to help you build up to getting amongst them .
  5. Hi Neal Like Spr says don't waste your petrol if you are there already . If the lake's very busy why not watch what the other anglers are doing like a hawk , and not try and be noble i.e. if someone catches go and congratulate them on their catch while getting a sneaky look at their rig and / or their bait . Is that so bad ? , the angler who catches may be chuffed that you are happy for him and you've got an idea what to try when you are in a " better " swim - it's not as though you are going to cast into their part of the lake ! . Keep warm , and tight lines .
  6. Hello Yonny The size 4 and 6 barbless in Neals' 'photo look pretty strong , could you go into a bit more detail as to why you wouldn't use a fly hook for Carp please . Ta
  7. Thanks Joe , that's very helpful .
  8. Hi Dayvid There's a friendly Robin down my local lake . I've bought some mealworms , and I hope with patience to have him / her feeding from my hand .
  9. Hello CM " my mistake for recommending them without giving them a fair trial period, my apologies to all concerned. " So if I return my Kranks to you , you'll give me a full refund ? .
  10. Hi Neal Thanks for the reply . Spock ( the one with the pointy ears ) couldn't fault your logic as to how you ended up at Bayeswater ! . Like Spr I don't fancy fishing in this weather . It all looks rather bare down the lake and there's only usually a Robin and a few Pheasants for company . So it's all down to you Neal to go fishing on behalf of Spr and me , and report back - no pressure then ! .
  11. Hi Neal So how was your McDonalds breakfast ? . It sounds like you are getting closer each visit to catching some . I guess now you have invested time and effort into Bayeswater you are committed to fishing there long term , but I wonder why you chose Bayeswater over say Suffolk Water Park which would presumably be closer to you ? .
  12. Thanks James . Tight lines for next week , let's hope the weather calms down .
  13. Hi James Sounds as though you enjoyed yourself . I would be very interested to read your opinion of S.W.P. as a fishery , as I've only walked around the Traditional Lake . What made you choose to fish Match Lake 1 rather than the Traditional Lake ? .
  14. Ah ha ! , just when I was thinking no one was going to answer your post along comes Nick to save the day . Unfortunately I don't think anyone on the forum currently fishes S.W.P. Anyway welcome to the forum , and I hope you have a successful campaign down S.W.P.
  15. Neal if you fished Saturday night into Sunday you could pop down the Brentwood Carp Show on the Sunday . I'm sure your wife would be really impressed that you would be saving on petrol as Chelmsford to Brentwood would be a much shorter journey for you .
  16. Hello Spr Korda ( Ali Hamidi , and James ? ) did an episode there . Maybe Neal will be along later .
  17. And to think Russians have nuclear weapons !!! .
  18. But what about Baseball Bats ?
  19. Thanks for the heads up about the Fox Zig Aligner , Hutch . That's very interesting what you are saying Beanz , and like Neal I too would like to know your prefered hook pattern now . Ta .
  20. Thanks fellas A Line Aligner ? - hmm , something else for me to think about , thanks Nick . What is your opinion on Micro Barbs please NM ? . Thanks for the recommendation Neal ; I'm guessing it was easier to put a blanket ban on using any Curve Shanks at Graviers rather than single out specific manufacturers patterns .
  21. Thanks Nick . I'm glad I've kept some of my old rigs , it looks like it may be time to resurrect the rigs with tubing on ! .
  22. Thanks Hutch , that's very interesting , and hopefully will be the catalyst for some healthy debate . It certainly makes me want to give more thought to the Kamasan B175 - as recommended by Nick and Tim .
  23. Ah excellent Hutch ! . I worded my original question clumsily which meant that this thread went off at a slight - BUT very welcome ( because I learnt more stuff ) tangent . I'm very interested to read what you say about mouth damage with Krank hooks , Hutch , as when I unintentionally caught a 2lbish Tench on a barbless Krank ( sz. 10 I think ) its' mouth was full of blood when I came to unhook it . I haven't had another incident like that again , and I wonder if like some of the published rigs and hooks Kranks are more aimed at bigger Carp ? .
  24. Never mind Tim , just like West Ham you tried your best .
  25. Thanks Hutch
