  1. I did all through the winter last year. My biggest fish from my local lake came from a wet and cold evening back in march. Just can't be arsed to do it at the moment. Doing a lot of overtime as I have a family holiday in Greece and a fishing trip to France to pay for so when I do get an evening to myself I'd rather spend it at home with the family. Probably start again around March time.
  2. Had a few good perch today , biggest 2lb 2oz, my mates also had a pb in the shape of 16lb ghostie. Weather has been absolutely appalling. Target is a 3lb perch before I go home tomorrow afternoon.
  3. I'm going to a commy for this weekend for 36 hours. The plan is to fish for the perch in the daytime and stick the carp rods out before bed. Wouldn't be surprised if the carp make an appearance on the float rod. Had one of my biggest carp this year on the same method and a 4lb hooklink, while all the carpers were blanking away.
  4. Going back to the kingfishers. My mate who fishes the same lake as me never sees them. He also doesn't catch many fish lol.
  5. But you can't teach them how to react to it.
  6. I personally don't think you can teach somebody Watercraft. It's all about the individuals perception and awareness of what's going on around them. Some people have it and some people don't.
  7. I'm pretty sure I see a kingfisher nearly every time I go fishing, whether it's my local lakes in London or further out.
  8. I'm actually going fishing this weekend. I can't wait. Gonna be a big of stripey hunting too.
  9. Doubt it will even happen mate. If it does then just learn a bit of French and put some onions round your neck.
  10. Probably a lot I don't know as I don't fish many weedy waters. Something to watch after the footie tonight.
  11. Cheers guys. I think ill start off with a trace just in case. Don't wanna leave a pike with a lure stuck in its gob.
  12. Evening all. Who on here lure fishes for perch?. Want to give it a go this winter. What sort of lures have people had luck on and do you use a wire trace in case of pike?. Cheers homies.
  13. I used to own a waverunner , done the job it was supposed do. How much do have to spend? I hired a mk3 microcat when I went to France last year, great bit of kit if you can afford it.
  14. Never done that well on white to be honest . Washed out pink and purple are my favs. But I'm sure of I had one brilliant session on white that could change .
  15. Think Nick is a bit young to be my dad, even by Ipswich standards.
  16. Don't neglect the evenings or the hours of darkness mate. Had my best floater sessions in the dark.
  17. If you think about how successful zigs are now during winter then it makes sense that it's more than possible to still catch off the surface. I know a bloke who was fishing my club lake in January. Hadn't had a beep for 2 days and it was about 3 degrees. He cast out a lump of bread on an overdepth zig about 8pm and had 1 in the net within an hour.
  18. My dad was fishing a lake in Ipswich yesterday and said he had a few proper lumps feeding off the top. Didn't manage to hook one though.
  19. I have done right through the winter in the past. Don't hammer it . Just trickle a few floaters in likely areas. Shallower areas that are warmer or areas with a lot of overhangs are a good start. I've actually caught off the top before as the frost was starting to settle on the ground. That was a well stocked venue though.
  20. What sort of distance could you get with that lot Nick?
  21. Must say I've seen a few people contradict thier selves on here but never argue with thier self. Think someone forgot to take their meds 🤣🤣
  22. Mate some of the cyclists i have to deal with have a death wish . The amount of times they come up on the passenger side when you are indicating to go left is unreal. They just don't realise that are in danger and that these mirrors have blindspots. I had to go a cycle awareness course as part of the contract our company has with tfl. It's the cyclists that should be made to sit this course.
  23. I drive in central London almost every day. To say you need to stay alert is an understatement. The cyclists are the worst. I reckon I must have saved at 10 cyclists lives in the last year by second guessing what they are gonna do, and they still give you a mouthful. Ungrateful idiots.
  24. To be honest I've never paid more than £8 a kilo mate. Next year might be different if I can get onto the water I want to as I'm gonna need to keep the carp coming to one particular area so I might be looking for a longer term bait but I still love the cell lol.
  25. Personally I have good results on it wherever I fish but then again I don't do long sessions or do a baiting campaign on one lake. Perhaps if I did I would feel different towards it.
