  1. If you had to come past my gaff on your way to the lake, I would gladly lend you it to use mate.
  2. I always say mate, if your going to fish zigs, to get the best out of them; commit to them. All three rods and really work them. Set your alarm for every half hour and change one rod each time it go’s off. Be that colour (not me though), area or depth. That way, each rod is getting 90 minutes but your still actively switching things every 30. You can cover a lot of depth and areas in a day doing this.
  3. You don’t have to apologise mate! Lol although, if you catch on yellow and black, you wouldn’t have had that inspiration from me!!! I’m black and white where ever and when ever!!!!! Lol
  4. Not sure on the material mate. For the amount of time I use it, the weight isn't an issue. To be fair, I haven't noticed it at all. As most people who know me will will tell you, I take the absolute minimum kit with me, apart from bait. The pole is always in my quiver and if the weight was an issue, I wouldn't be carrying it!
  5. I have the cygnet 12m one phil. You can add as many extension poles as you like to them.
  6. That camera may take an intovalometer. They are the best thing for self takes. You can set the delay, interval time between shots, how many shots it fires etc etc. You can pick them up for around a tenner on amazon.
  7. During our first day with Terry Edmonds, I was hitting 150 easily with 12ft 3lb rods, 3oz zip lead and .35mm line straight through. My biggest cast was just shy of 160yards on that set up. It is more technique than equipment. Although the latter does play its part. film yourself side on, in slow motion. Then watch terry Edmonds in slow mo on you tube. This will show you when you are loading the rod. I actually slowed the first part of my cast down after advice from terry. Giving the rod more time to load before generating maximum lead speed. I could cast pretty tidy before our lessons but having him tweak my technique, and practising it since, I can now hit what was my maximum with greater ease and far more accuracy. I can cast longer now but my main objective from the lessons was casting straight, at distance. Now, if I am faced with big winds etc, I can still fish comfortably at big distances if needed.
  8. 3 times???? How the hell do you count 'that' one trip?????
  9. Please tell me which lakes these imported 50lb carp are in Shropshire. I have a feeling where you are thinking of but that's just 2 or 3 lakes. And the fish were not imported at 50, 40 or even 30lb.
  10. Do you want to back up your statement and enlighten us on which ones you consider to be a rip off and contain 'wrong uns' as you put it?
  11. Have a look on you tube and search for dean Watson. He's a good mate of mine and has done some fishery tours of the day tickets in Shropshire. He still has a few more to go on yet but that will be a good start for you. You get a good explanation of each lake, a look at some of the fish and a lake walk a round, showing all the swims and facilities. This should give you a good feel of the lakes and see if you like the look of them. Personally, I think that Merrington would be your best bet. Yes, there are some Simmons in there but it also holds some Wellington fish, including some big commons. I find it's always best to take advice off people who have been to places, not just 'seen pictures' or 'heard stories' etc!
  12. maybe they are struggling to produce the ntxrs for a reasonable price due to material and production increases??? Carry on making them but with an extra £100 on a set???
  13. I'm pretty sure they have something for it to sit on. A good friend was at the their trade show and mentioned this to me above all their other products. He said it's a great bit of kit.
  14. I've just found this after watching that video. i still may build a couple to keep down the lake though.
  15. Joking aside Yonny, it's a special, special place. I have it to myself most weekends, even the last two bank holidays, there has only been me fishing it! we have reduced the numbers again this year, from 15 down to 14.
  16. I've had a few fish out of there whilst practising for the BCAC qualifier coops and I fished on there. Coops had a few fish off the reeds (130 yards if I remember) from the first swims on the road bank. I did ok from round the back part of the lake, by the sunken diving platform. The fish I had from that area included the lake record. Not sure if that still stands? I fished it in March and went light on the bait, fishing solid bags of chops and liquid with a small pop up on. If I was going this week though, I would be tempted to fill it in, especially if fish have been coming off there and you can get near them. In the corner on the cliff wall (the back part of the lake) theres like a cave that the fish sit in. If you can hit 120-125 yards with a bag on, you will stand a good chance of catching off that spot.
  17. That shows that they can improve the comfort of the swim. To some, the £60odd would be worth it. To others like you and I, we would use them if there but not to the point that we wpuld pay for them. To be fair, I carry as little kit as I can with me. That's why I am glad Phil and Mick have joined my lake. I wont need to take the brew kit if they are on now!!!!!!! If you ever get to fish with Phil, he wakes you up with a coffee every morning!!!!
  18. Quick question for you Yonny - If you were to fish my lake (I've mentioned a possible guest ticket for you), would you utilise the matts that I have in the swims there? No right or wrong answer btw, or trick question!! lol
  19. lol I won't be buying one myself either mate. But, I do think they will sell quite a few of them..
  20. The thing is, no one is stopping you using a sun lounger and piece of tarp for cover, sleeping in a cheap bag. Back in the day, I bet you never had electric windows on your car, or air con. There isn't really a 'problem' winding down the window with a handle is there? But it didn't stop the advancement of electric windows, which were a luxuary at the time but are now standard.
  21. I don't like gravelled swims. I try my best to keep the lake looking as natural as possible. 3 of the swims are grass with the others having a top up of bark from when we do any cutting back during work parties. As phil said, that swim gets no sun when the trees are in leaf meaning it gets quite mossy, holding water throughout the year. I would still rather that than a gravelled swim though.
