  1. If you want to keep using the lead clips you have then try the following. Tie a large loop in your hook link at the lead end. Slide on an anti tangle sleeve. Then poke the loop through the swivel on the lead clip. Then put your hook and bait, if it's mounted, through the loop and pull down tight. It's easy to change hook links that way as your not actually tying them to the swivel. It's basically how you would attach a 'hook to nylon' to your main line.
  2. When you going Pete? It's only a mile down the road so I'll pop over for a coffee.
  3. Baiting needle up the hole before you blob it.
  4. If I want tubing to stay in any sort of bead I just pass it through and blob the end with a lighter. No need to glue and it stays in tight.
  5. It makes things a lot easier for me too Beanz. Nick - I do still use a small rig ring sometimes. If I am using a 'mini' chod with a small bait, I want as little extra weight as possible.
  6. Yeah, the one i cant find is the one that Zander refers to in his first post on that one.
  7. There is this one: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=55738&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=shot+chod&start=0 But I think the other one I did may have been deleted as I put a link to it when posting on the thread above?
  8. Time moves on mate. I have a feeling that the original post was made when there were a few people on here signing up just to cause trouble.
  9. I have slightly changed the set up a bit since new products have been released so that I don't have to alter bits to suit. The Fox lead sleeves (not sure what they are called) have made a big difference to the ease of tying. They have the tail coming direct off the bead. Have a look through this thread: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=51296
  10. That would be a choice high on the list for me. The original poster wanted to have a rig that didn't require pva though. For some reason, he doesn't like it? There is one problem with using pva tape though. What happens if the rig gets rejected? There still may be a chance of a tangle. That's why I like to use a rig that can reset. This, in my case, has me using a pop up, wafter or very slow sinking bottom bait most of the time. I think this resetting business is why lots of people see there catch rate increase when chod or hinged stiff rigging it. They may have been getting pick ups before but when the rig was getting ejected, it was left not 'fishing'?
  11. If I wanted to tie a rig like first suggested in this thread, I would look at using hydrolink. Art ripping all the outer braid off baring that what you want the length of the hair to be. With this bit, pull out the inner section and tie your loop for the bait stop. Position the hair so that you have the whole hair covered in the braid with only half of it with the inner section left in. Then whip your knot less knot on trapping the baid in the turns. You will be left with a stiff hook link and a hair that acts as you first described. Even less fiddly knots to do and all using one hook link material. I have never done this or even thought about it before so don't know if the theory would work in practice. I can't see any reason it wouldn't. As a foot note, there is no reason to rubbish someone's idea. It might not work or might sound stupid to you but for others, it may be the answer. I have used less and less plastic for a whole now. I still use tic tacs on chods and zigs mind. But if I want a flash of colour to tip a bait, I now use mini hell raisers from cc Moore. These are unflavored so can use my liquids to customise them to what I feel right with the bottom bait.
  12. Pop into Somerset angling in bridgwater if you are passing.
  13. Do you think you will catch more at a syndicate? just askingd. Not particularly but finding somewhere which is not full of lines especially at the weekend would be nice dont you think mate? Cheers Hense why you might not get an answer on an open forum If people advertised the nice quiet syndicate they were on, it might not be that way for long!!! It may even get people walking round or guesting!! Stick around the forum, get posting on some threads and as people get to know you, you might find a bit of information starts to come your way.
  14. I like the boom to have a bit of ply in it so that it has a chance of settling if over a stone/twig etc??
  15. I very rarely use it but if I do, the boom is say 6inch long and made out off a stiff coated braid with obviously, none stripped back. The chod section is just that, one of my chods which average around 2.5 inches. I have never used it with a bottom bait but can't see why it's not worth you giving it a go?
  16. The main reason I use a boom like in the hinged stiff rig is to allow the rig to 'reset' itself if picked up. I have stated before on here that I think my rigs get picked up and ejected more than I care to imagine. If this happens with a stiffish boom, the popup and short rig section should float down nicely with no tangles (hopefully)!!! It is then fishing effectively ready for the next pick up that will hopefully prick the fish enough to gain a chance of hooking it. Imagine it sat on the lake bed and pulling the bait up then letting it go and settle on its own.
  17. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=51296 Have a look through this. Another coming up!
  18. I've only ever fished the big lake there. Not for the carp like most but for some big perch that I was told were in there. Ended up on day with over 90 carp on worm. I was fishing a rod length out on the inside line and after 20 or so carp of around 6-10lb, decided to see what I could do in the way of numbers. It must be full to the brim of them!!!
  19. Could be seen as threatening so had to go sorry mate. You know I was laughing at it whilst deleting it though!! Even more so as I knew you would be blaming someone else lol.
  20. I'm Shropshire born and bred hnv. Just wondering why someone needs new places to fish because they are moving a whole 8 mile away? Lol Always liked the look of Walcott.
  21. You want a quiet place that no one knows about but you want it to be posted on an open forum?? Lol Near gatten isn't too far from you.
  22. Simple - dry out all your gear thoroughly in sunlight.
  23. What did you do when you blanked? I would suggest doing something a bit different.
