  1. I've had a few fish out of there whilst practising for the BCAC qualifier coops and I fished on there. Coops had a few fish off the reeds (130 yards if I remember) from the first swims on the road bank.

I did ok from round the back part of the lake, by the sunken diving platform. The fish I had from that area included the lake record. Not sure if that still stands?

I fished it in March and went light on the bait, fishing solid bags of chops and liquid with a small pop up on. If I was going this week though, I would be tempted to fill it in, especially if fish have been coming off there and you can get near them.

In the corner on the cliff wall (the back part of the lake) theres like a cave that the fish sit in. If you can hit 120-125 yards with a bag on, you will stand a good chance of catching off that spot.

Of course I would Nige, if it's there then I'd use it. No point in rolling it up and hoying it in the bushes lol!!

That shows that they can improve the comfort of the swim. To some, the £60odd would be worth it. To others like you and I, we would use them if there but not to the point that we wpuld pay for them.

To be fair, I carry as little kit as I can with me. That's why I am glad Phil and Mick have joined my lake. I wont need to take the brew kit if they are on now!!!!!!! If you ever get to fish with Phil, he wakes you up with a coffee every morning!!!!

For sure. I remember when I first started doing nights, I used this horrible Argos wire framed sun longer, a cheap 70's brown and orange summer sleeping bag that my Dad gave me, this absolutely useless leaky Nash bivvy thing that cost about 60 quid new.... not necessarily because gear wasn't available but because I couldn't afford anything better. I'd be absolutely freezing, regularly caught colds, ate and drank complete rubbish as I had no stove lol.... I DO NOT miss those days!

But you wouldn't catch me dead using one of these Nash path things!!

    lol

I won't be buying one myself either mate. But, I do think they will sell quite a few of them..

  4. The thing is, no one is stopping you using a sun lounger and piece of tarp for cover, sleeping in a cheap bag.

Back in the day, I bet you never had electric windows on your car, or air con. There isn't really a 'problem' winding down the window with a handle is there? But it didn't stop the advancement of electric windows, which were a luxuary at the time but are now standard.

  5. I don't like gravelled swims. I try my best to keep the lake looking as natural as possible. 3 of the swims are grass with the others having a top up of bark from when we do any cutting back during work parties.

As phil said, that swim gets no sun when the trees are in leaf meaning it gets quite mossy, holding water throughout the year. I would still rather that than a gravelled swim though.

  6. I cant get out until a guest session on Fox Pool a week on Friday! It's doing my head in because the fish are all over my spots on the lake. I was down doing some final strimming of the year at the weekend. After putting the supplementary feed in on Saturday, along with a good helping of my bait, the fish were smashing it up on Sunday!!!!!

Last week, a member had a right session getting 12 bites over 4 days. I had 4 in a morning weekend before last.  Like I said - it's really doing my nut in as I know they won't be on the feed like this for long!!!!! I am looking forward to fishing such a history lake next Friday though.

  7. No, they certainly ain't!!!

in the same breath though, I wouldn't want to carry 3 of them around with me either. Also, not many people would have access to them like we do.

The nash one is accessable and easyier to carry around than a load of plastic mats to make the equivalent coverage.

Each to their own I suppose. Like I say, I can see loads of these being sold on the continent and to the traveling, long stay angler.

P.s as mentioned, the main reason for the matts at our place, is to save the swims. Not for the comfort of the anglers - although that's a nice bi product!!

  8. If you look at it in a bigger picture than just the uk scene, then I can see a lot of these being sold.

just think of those long stay anglers who live on, or travel Europe. Some of those banks are like swamps to start with, never mind after two or more weeks walking back and two to the rods. Add that to the ressies that can drop in levels, leaving nothing but mud to fish from.

  9. I've fished in some very cold, sub zero conditions. Never had the roller wheel freeze up. It may do in future but I can't see it if never happened in the conditions I've fished in.

Fot the delkim to pick up a bite that wouldn't move the roller wheel the small amount needed to give a beep, it would have to be on a pretty high sensitivity? No good if there's a breath of wind or a drop of rain as I would guess you would be getting false bites. The way I have heard people get over this is by turning the sensitivity down, doing away with any improvement in indication over an atts.

  10. My atts alarms have never had any issues. That makes them reliable, along with the fact that if the line moves, the alarms beep. Unless it's rain or waves etc moving or 'rocking' the line. The atts recognises this and eliminates false beeps.

Dunk them under water, they still work. Try that with a delkim! Lol
