so are you saying you would rather end up with a carp dragging your rig AND lead around and end up getting snagged and dying. which is exactly what would happen

but not to tight otherwise a fish could end up trailing it around. better to lose a lead than risk a fish. a lot of anglers fit the rubbers loose to purpously (spelling) lose leads when they have a fish on

is it actually silicon or is it small tubing (not shrink tubing) which as the carp trys to blow the bait out it moves up the shank and helps to set the hook

why not use maize, harder and stays on the hair all night with no problems. if its not been fished you wont need to worry about fancy rigs just use a standard hair rig maize or you could use artificiall (spelling) sweet corn.

if surface baits are banned but work well then stick out a zig rig a couple of inches below the surface

the problem here is that no one on this site will admit to leaving litter cause they know they will get stick, i even take an ashtray with me, well a tin with a lid but as jay said (x2gsd) one of the lakes that we are members of is disgusting and 2 or 3 others are pretty bad to the point that jay nearly never bothered joining. i must say though that the club did ban someone last year for litter abuse but it still dont put a stop to it. we have bailiffs that come round and give litter tickets and then come back later to see if you have left any, but it still dont stop them.

do you guys use running or semi fixed leads most of my fishing is now done with running but thinking of going back to semi, but only because i am bably losing confidence in my fishing and probably looking for an excuse as to why i am blanking so much lately. would welcome your veiws.

My thoughts exactly... I've spent a fortune there aswell but haven't had a decent fish yet. You're correct about the leak & yes he's gonna dig the bootleg along the roadside end. I heard yesterday that the Farmer is putting in yet another lake alongside the bootleg! Whilst talking to a couple at the lake yesterday (2 of them with 3 rods each) they'd both blanked over 24hrs which doesn't inspire much confidence for my forthcoming Saturday night visit although there are a lot of fish 'showing' now. you dont need confidence when ya with me jay ya need a bloody miracle

yes mate it needs to go through the back of the hook then whip it then through the back again. there are some threads on this site that show good diagrams for hook tying

as others have said this is a bad rig. people say only use it if there's no small fish in the lake, as far as i am concerned how can anyone know 100% that no small carp are in the lake. there are many many good rigs out there without having to use one that can cause terrible mouth damage to our prized fish.
