  1. This is what i assume to be a young lad who broke his pb at this lake ( 13lb) and is interested in the biggest fish in the lake, whats the problem with that . There wont be many of us on here that wouldn't ask the same question of any lake we fish .
  2. Size 8 is the standard , personally i use Korda ,i have never seen a lb rating on small swivels but have never had one fail, good luck .
  3. That sounds fine , i still do not understand why there is another piece of braid on your rig
  4. If im reading this right you are saying you have braid coming off both sides of the swivel , if this is so then i'm confussed . you can certainly have your main line running to the lead clip swivel and from that you have the rig coming off the other side
  5. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=32286 Here is a link to an old thread on La Friterrie ( La NOT Le )
  6. We have had success fishing in weed using a method feeder ( several 20lb+ fish) with a 3" rig . I would also think about clearing some areas with a rake,if it's a water you will be fishing regularly you can keep the areas clear and baited , looking at the pictures im guessing this is not a busy water.
  7. Just been looking at Tri Lakes you can night fish it Fri/Sat only but you have to become a member (£50) There is Furnace near Horsham not everybody's cup of tea but decent fish spotless swims and good facilities (it does get busy at this time of year)
  8. Probaly nothing that you don't already know , over 80 acres, some big fish, and a never ending trail of dogs and thier owners .
  9. We went for a week a few years back has some nice fish and some absolute shockers, the thing that ruined it for us was the owner . His lake his rules but a bit over the top , i have read that since we went he has cut down on the number of swims he will let you fish because of his syndicate. The site it's self is fine, club house, small pool, food ect and the lake was fine but while Tim is running the show we wouldn't go back , of course it could of been a clash of personalities .
  10. Most koi keepers know that common table salt has numerous beneficial effects on fish, not least a marked antiparasite activity and the promotion of healing. Some people maintain a permanent low level of salt in their pond. Others add a low level over the winter to help the fish survive these colder months. Salt has many other uses such as high strength anti-parasitic dips and the reduction of ammonia and nitrite poisoning.
  11. Good point i have to say i don't know , i'll see if can find out.
  12. Bish , i'm not having a dig but how can anyone know everyting about thier chosen path in life , especialy something as random as salt being added to a fresh water lake .
  13. OK i'm bored Adding salt in the pond especially in the fall will help fish survive the long cold winter months. We recommend adding 1.5 - 2.5 lbs of salt for every 100 gallons of water in the pond. We often add salt in the fall, after taking out floating plants such as water hyacinths and water lettuce Found this on a koi web site and if correct it means a lake of 100m x100m and 2m deep =20 million l of water or 4.5 million gallons at 2lb 's of salt for every 100 gallons of water this means you could add over 20'000 lb's of salt and according to thier recomendations it would still be safe . I do not suggest you try it but that equates to a lot of pva bags
  14. Have you done a search to see what people have said about the place on here in the past ?
  15. Just had a quick look at thier web site and i have to say for £60 you aint got alot to lose , assuming you live local even if you only managed 6 day sessions it's only a tenner a time ( unless you fish with 3 rods) good luck.
  16. With out question look at the Blue Pool (Cemex water nr Reading ) no facilities except portaloo's but a good head of fish up to 40lb , 5/6 acres £145 / day exclusive booking . The only problem is unless you want to go in October/november it will be booked this year .
  17. If your having had loads of takes but no fish your getting something right but not enough , i would say you need to look at your rigs .
  18. We left Sunday morning fished 6/7 please tell me he didn't fish there
  19. Are you sure it is free this weekend as i thought i read on Cemex that it was booked every weekend till July , fished there last weekend as the booked on party did not pay we were the only two on there for a while only 4 on when we left . No fish caught and the only fish we saw were as we reeled in the last rod
  20. There is no answer to this one Nick it depends on the fish , bait , lake bed and so on,get yourself a selection of hook link materials make up different rigs see which work . All part of the fun
  21. Fantastic, a week allows you to do so much . Not knowing your ability or knowledge i'll throw some things at you,no offence meant. Bait up several margins , trickle the bait in regularly and keep walking the lake looking for signs of feeding Set up your base camp but in the day move around the lake fish different swims, this hopefully will keep the fish from holding up in one place Try to get there early and talk to the previous lot on if something has worked for them it may work for you. If every body fishes with boilies and struggles don't fish with boilies , having said that try BIG boilies 28mm or SMALL ones 8mm something different from the crowd and of course new potatoes straight from the can no shaping them like boilies or chick peas my 2 favorites. Pop ups and zigs different colours different depths If you feel there are fish feeding near your rigs and you are catching nothing change your rigs, material length everything. You are there for a week you will almost certainly catch more fish if you fish less , and by that i mean take your rods out, walk the lake with one rod if you see fish feeding drop a bait on it, if you feel a swim would be better fished with one rod then only use one rod . casting all three rod out and sitting on them for a week will be the big mistake in my opinion . You have a whole week to outwit them dont get set in your ways, try new things until you find something that works , All the best ,John.
