I'm looking forward to testing my new trigger rigs beside a standard one to see if those riggy fish get caught out by it, I've got high hopes for it TBH. Its a bit thick and doesnt sink too well so I'm told so weighting it is necessary. You could achieve the same by making a springback boom but this seems easier and more subtle on the eye. Nash stuff cant be that bad - the rods and shelters look good to me and the squid liver baits took waters apart when it came out. How can a company fronted by one of the best all time anglers (with top consultants) be as poor as people make out?

No it should sit like a snowman bottom bait resting on the bottom or slightly off it if thats what you want. The pop-up sits on top of the bottom bait. The idea is that it goes to the bottom very slowly resting on any weed or debris, it also flies into the carps mouth if it suck anywhere near it as you have kind of made it weightless. Often your bottom bait will be smaller coz pop-ups are not as bouyant as we would like so you could try a cork ball instead.

Best advice get in your car and travel out of leicester like most of us do lol
-
Yes I believe so though you can buy a season ticket for about 40 odd quid. Other species - no idea Maybe I'm suggesting somewhere totally unsuitable - there are lots of mixed fisheries in Leicester with the chance of fairly decent carp too. I look towards Charnwood as being for the experienced who are geared up towards day sessions, maybe a couple of fish a season if your lucky, get a view from someone who has spent some time on it.
-
Charnwood something theres 2 close to each other on the map, I'm having a senior moment but thought it was the ressy, could be wrong I usually am. Anyway its about 25acres with low stocks to 40+ very challenging, which is why I'm interested. I definately wasn't talking about nanpanton, coz I've never been even remotely interested in going there. Was told its a runs water, though still a chance of decent fish.

Charnwood Res for days Nights you could try Beedles or Willesley, join Murphys syndicate or look at the watermead country park lakes.

My mate asked an elderly lady if she minded him parking outside her house and she said park on the drive, she didn't mind at all, so for him the car thing aint a problem - just the bridge of doom to contend with! Poorly situated though is the thing that makes his asking price crazy!
-
Trouble is you cant really dismiss it coz it contains lots of twenties (good lookers too some lovely commons), possibly even a thirty. My mates had about 8 20+, and it now contains big cats as well. I'd love to dismiss it but the stock says its still worth a go sometime! Alledgedly you could turn up in the evening do a short overnighter and not see the money taker (coz he's nothing more). Not that I condone that sort of behavior you understand
-
What so you wouldn't pay the 150+ for a season of Navis Joy? Neither would I but I've got a mate who does (mug)!
-
I've gotta agree with Tony on this - just another tiny pond owner spouting rubbish - and they think were stupid enough to believe them! If they cant be honest they get none of my cash.
-
Charnwood Res Loughborough low stocks of carp to 40+ - I've seen photos to prove it Gilmorton Mill Farm - lots of small fish but good numbers of high doubles and twenties.
-
I use a palomar knot for florocarbon, and a Grinner for mono and braid. I dont know either of the ones you've mentioned
-
Maybe one to try to join in the future then, cheers for that.

Oh someone told me on here that within the last year it had broke the Leicester Record. Never mind it wouldn't be the first time I got something wrong. Still its got some potential! So is the place worth the money? Good luck!

You could try getting on Saddington through John at All Seasons Angling its done a 50 quite recently - TBO though I dont fancy your chances much, very small syndicate clicky! Also Murphys is looking for new members so I understand.

Problem is that some Carp may not feed on the clear spots , or do so very warily, so the need to be able to present a bait in the weed is required As Nick says clear spots are not always the way to go, I now actively look for weedy areas to fish over - you just need the confidence to do it and find presentations that can cope with it. As someone else said you may be picking up the weed on the retrieve, your rig may have been OK before you reeled in. Use PVA products to give you the confidence that your hook cannot be masked - and you've nothing to worry about. Areas of silk weed are full of naturals and are excellent spots to fish, everyman and his dog looks for obvious clear areas - these are likely to have been cleared out by fish and become danger areas where fish use extreme caution, new small clearings are more likely to be current feeding spots. Watch Nash In Persuit - it goes through all aspects of feature finding, well worth the money! My mates just done a week in a very weedy swim - he had one fish all week fishing a large clear area behind the thick weed beds - the fish were in the area all week, so should he have fished the tiny gaps in the thick weed 'yes' coz thats where they feel safe.

tfg surface missile help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kevtaylor replied to jacko627's topic in UK Rig Tying
Dont buy the really big one - I just grabbed one off the shelf without really testing how heavy it is - my word its like chucking a large dead bait out, the splash frightened me let alone the fish! -
Richworth sorcerer - used with an anti tangle sleeve (fox) - brilliant! Supple, sinks well, anti tangle and camo - what more do you want!!!!
-
In death rig you mean a shocker? which can be tied safely if using beads that are able to move up/down the line with slight pressure. I dont see what your getting at with regard to tight lines and baitrunners? IMO the issues you raise are not linked?? confused Please enlighten us.

Cant see any of the things you've mentioned affecting the hook hold or damaging the hook itself. I steam mine though, but still cant see dipping it in boiling water being detrimental to it in any way, its hardly enough time to melt the metal is it. Maybe you have got a dodgy batch? - I've only ever had a hook straighten a few times. Weird indeed - I wouldn't go changing anything you do because of this, maybe just stick a different hook pattern on and go fishing as soon as possible to see if it improves things, or to identify if it was the hook. The carp gremlins strike again, you come back stronger for these unlucky or challenging times. Chin up and good luck next time
-
Thats interesting Tony - I hope your right coz I've been blaming myself thinking that I was giving it too much stick, didn't feel like it at the time but afterwards you dont know what to make of it. Cheers
-
Yep using it at present - cant say where I'm hooking them at the minute coz I've lost the last 2 fish to hook pulls - which is maybe more to do with the hook I'm using rather than the rig. The few I caught on it last year were firm bottom lip - but a different hook.
-
Too right I've got the scars to prove it - dangerous stuff! I pulled a hook right through my thumb starting with the nail, that was fun! The joy of pulling using pliers to tighten it - one slip and your in trouble. Yeah sorry 18lb is the right Ghost BS - I reckon I've been lucky with the Korda hooks and Fangs - coz they must just have big eyes. In fact thinking back I remember having to cut the IQ into a point to get it through one type of hook - pretty damn tight.
-
You've got me thinking now - does it really? lol - if it does then my IQ manages to pass through three times on a size 6 Korda Pattern B. Ghost of about 15 lb would pass through dead easy - the 25lb IQ is easy enough PS I really had to think hard to realise this 3 times thing - must be getting old lol
-
You can tie a d rig using 25lb IQ it still goes through the eye twice of a size 6 wide gape (or most hooks). Surely you want the invisibility of IQ or Ghost - what hooks you using coz both these materials will thread twice? Crimps - please leave it out
