  1. As the post two above says no night fishing.
  2. In fairness it's better than it was but still far to busy for me. Neil the bailiff has pretty well sorted the litter problem out and will ban anybody he catches leaving litter.
  3. I thought maggots were ok during the winter months
  4. Cheers, with the higher temps forecast for the back end of the week it should thaw out all over. Just hope for the best regarding any fish kills, i've been told of 4 around shropshire and a few up chesire way already.
  5. Hiring a van to take to France can be very expensive, once you say you want to take it abroard the price really rises. Ferry prices vary greatly depending on which crossings you want to take but using google you can find the cheapest prices quite quickly. Make sure you all get an european health insurance card. Always have european breakdown cover, make sure you have all your driving documents to hand. Check what you need to have in your van/car for driving in France such as Fluoro jackets, spare bulb sets, warning Triangles etc. I'm sure some of the lake owners on here will offer a bit of advice later.
  6. Who mentioned a website and what do you mean no ones caught out of this pool because i have mate.
  7. Couldnt say about the ghosties but yes to the rest
  8. I dont know of any waters in Telford which are ice free at the moment. Boldings may be as he runs aerators.
  9. Its not frozen that surprises me as the balancing lake over the road was frozen solid on Friday and low temps forecast for tonight.
  10. Plenty of fish in there and the margins are a good bet after talking to lads i know who fish it.
  11. With the temps forecast this week the chances are it will still be froze solid.

    Crimps

Ebay have some double barreled crimps but i've just used the singles.

    Crimps

The fox crimps are designed for monos, crimps dont work with braids as they slip coated braids are different and will work. I think some more playing about is required

    Crimps

I wouldn't use it on Fluoro a few years ago but i think the newer softer types aren't so bad although i would still like to experiment a bit more with it. I was playing with utimates stiff rig material and it seemed fine with that.

    Crimps

Funny this as i was sat playing with crimps and 18/20lb stiff links yesterday when bored out of my tiny little mind lol. Very strong joints and on testing with some Korda pullers the material was breaking on the swivel not the crimp. Did a couple of chods with it and managed to snap the hook in half before the material so i guess in a fishing situation where you would put no where as near much pressure you would be fine. Fox do some crimps which are designed for mono use in sea fishing you can get most stiff links three times through these for a bit of extra security. Jez
  17. Have a look at the Avon some nice carp in there.
  18. Yep looking at £500+ if i take my van porstmouth - caen.
  19. Now for all the new members on here i ask this question as to me 99% of all rigs do not act anything like people think in the water for 99% of the time. Many moons past a really good thread on here COMPLICATED RIGS was a really interesting read and i posted my views then and they aint really changed much in the time that has past. I fish mostly very low stocked waters along with one more heavily stocked more pressured water and watching the fish has made me realise in my eyes that 99% of what we read about rigs is total rubbish. Basically they suck it in they spit it out and if we are lucky the hook penetrates enough to spook them. The only real difference i have found is a better hooking ratio on a simple running rig with a light lead. 360 rigs etc are just avoided on my waters (to much metal on show) and a simple knotless knot works far better than most contraptions involving rig rings blah blah blah. What are your opinions? do you think rigs can make a major difference or are they a small part of the overall equation. Before you answer think about the fact that different carp feed in different ways, for instance a deep fat bellied simmo might have to tip right up to pick up bait items but a long slender leney might only have to tip up say 15% to reach the same bait. With this as a consideration which not many will even consider how can we really hope to discover the ultimate rig. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=9536 Edited to add link to Complicated rigs thread NG
  20. Like Beanz says i cant see it working like they say it will. Reminds me of one of these rigs designed at home and not really tested on the bank. Still give it a try what have you got to lose.
