  1. Dont forget no river fishing until June 16th, never ceases to amaze me how many carp anglers dont know about the close season.
  2. I hope its true as at least it gives you a worthwhile target in the water, just goes to show how waters can change over the years. I can remember that not so long back a double was a massive fish for Apley.
  3. Got to be honest if that is true and photos can be very deceptive i would be amazed.
  4. In over 30 years of fishing the pool the best cat i know of is a high 20 its never did any over 30 never mind 50. There are still plenty of mid to upper doubles which we were catching on lumps of mackeral over halibuts a couple of years back.
  5. I wouldnt believe anything the bailiffs tell you, its been years since it did a 20 and 600 carp in there along with all the silvers is a recipe for disaster. Massively overstocked i mean the place is only a couple of acres for christ sake. You will be able to walk over the pool on the backs of the carp, why oh why do some of these places seem to think you need 100s of fish per acre.
  6. I use a 2 swan shot drennan clear loafer fished over depth with the shot about 4" from the hook. Just wind down until the float cocks and wait for it to pop up and lay flat and then slide away before striking. Lots of movement while the fish are in the area mooching about so you will get lots of indications that why i always wait for the float to slide off before striking as you dont want to spook them by striking early.
  7. I gave up on the Linear waters a few years a go as they just got to busy for me even mid week. Some stunning fish to be caught and i enjoyed my time on there but nowadays i cant be doing with crowds. When i fished there baits on the silty spots produced more fish than the gravel and a straight boilie approach rather than the spodded particle beds worked well for me. My avatar pic is a good 30 off Manor.
  8. Do you mean the far bank below the cliffs?
  9. I think it was 22 or 23 when my lad had it, Liam had it at 25lb.
  10. Yeah Liam had the zip linear last year, a few of us have had it including me and my lad. Congrat on the common Ian, was thinking about going up during the week but the bottom was turning over and it looked horrid so i went perching instead. Got a new plan of attack for this year which involves a new super top secret if you find out i will have to kill you bait lol.
  11. Nice one. I might get up there sometime this year and do a bit of stalking midweek.
  12. Let me know how you get on, i might have another look at the blue as i haven't fished it for a couple of years now and i know that there are some new 20s in the place since i last did some serious time on it.
  13. Just fish the spots where they cant get down to the bait or fish so close in they are scared to come in and go down on the bait. I fished the Blue for years and never got bothered by the birds. Most of my fish came within two or three rod lengths of the bank, they love the deep margins on the place. Hemp gets them going mental, they cant get enough of the stuff. Tigers over hemp works very well and you dont get breamed out on them. The Blue is a lovely water in the wrong place but once you get your head around the place the fish with the exception of the slate grey and the long common are quite easy to catch. I know it can be hard because of all the people who get around the place but stealth and quiteness are the answer to consistant results off the place. Try and get up mid week when it is a bit quieter and just stick baits in spots you wouldn't normally dream of. Off the cliff where they dive in while swimming there is a small gap in the rocks, the carp always have a mooch in there, just opposite the same spot there is a small swim half way along the small bay by the no swimming sign it is right next to a small tree. In that swim the margins are deep and if you stick one rod well back with the tip only just over the waters edge and place a bait about 3ft out with the line dead slack you can catch from it. I've had big 20s off that swim in the past. Further along that bank you come to the point swim, dont be tempted to stick your rods out to the weed bed put one about 8 yards out to the left in the direction of the little island swim on the far bank. Dont know if there is some sort on natural food spot there but it always produces fish. Farther along the main bank past where the tree came down there are a couple of swims with nice deep margins that also fish well, these are before you get down to the shallows. Like i say lads the margins are where to catch them from on the Blue, just fish quiet and you are half way there.

    the kd rig

I find a stick of dynamite works when all else fails

    the kd rig

As for the korda DVDs what they showed to me is the fact that a simple running rig had the best results. As for Steve Reynard yes a good angler who likes to tinker with rigs but i'm still to be convinced that rigs make that big a difference to his results, i feel that its more down to his overall ability as an angler. I totally dispute that the KD rig works as you say i've seen it fail dismally on waters just as much as other rigs have, its not the be all and end all that some seem to think. Will have to agree to disagree on this one.

    the kd rig

You say that the KD rig has caught you carp that a perhaps a basic rig wouldn't of FACT. Now the way you say perhaps means that you cant be 100% certain, we can never be 100% certain that a simple rig wont work. I've fished waters where my results have been far better than others who use what i feel are rigs that are way over the top. For most of us its a confidence thing and for that reason alone i can understand people using different rigs etc. To me they suck it in they spit it out and sometimes we get lucky. That may be a very simplistic view but i know that what i do works for me and i'm happy with my results.

    the kd rig

Rigs are one of the last things i worry about when fishing. I worry more that i've got the bait in the right spot. A simple knotless knot is all i use for 99% of the time and it does me fine thankyou.
  18. Every venue in Telford can be fished with a stalking approach.
  19. Yes it does include the other pool, night fishing by syndi members only.
  20. It is run by Rod and Gun tackle shop in Dawley. Day tickets need to be bought from the shop in advance they are not available on the bank and trust me you do not want to get on the wrong side of Gus the bailiff. No night fishing unless you are a syndicate member for which their is a waiting list(speak to Duncan in the shop). There are some nice looking fish upto a20+ in the water but it doesnt fish well in the winter as its so deep about 35ft deepest and 20ft on average. Only a limited amount of day tickets sold on a daily basis so as to leave room for us syndicate members. They also control another water in wenlock which is a far better bet for a run this time of the year a lot shallower with a large stock of high singles and low doubles. Again tickets in advance from the shop. Jez
  21. In the town park next to the Blue pool.
  22. We just fished boilie with a bag of chops
  23. Plenty of fish in there and a good chance of a decent fish as well. Been a few years since i fished it but we used to catch plenty of doubles out of it. have seen a couple of very good fish in there going back a few years so might just produce a bit of a surprise for somebody.
