  1. Loads of carp upto mid 20s with lots of singles and doubles, i think its now run by Wrekin anglers but i will check for you.
  2. I love freelining bottom baits for carp. Quite often they will pick the bait up and move off without even knowing they have set the trap. The one thing is you have to learn how to strike and set the hook again unlike all the self hooking rigs we now use.
  3. If you want to know about Leighton Stoogi is the man to talk to.
  4. Blood knots are a stragulation knot and far weaker than a palomar or a well tied grinner.
  5. Coops, have a look at the enterprise snag safe lead systems. These are running lead set ups where it is easy to change the lead to whatever you want infact its probably easier than a lead clip system and it has the benefit of losing the lead if snagged unlike some other running systems.
  6. Lead clip systems have their uses but to me a simple running lead will catch any carp going and is nice and easy for a beginner to set up.
  7. Black fox cortex is a nice hooklength and easy to strip, i use it for 99% of my fishing now and it's never let me down.
  8. Not the easiest lake on the complex, for 24hrs oxlease or Brasenose might be a better bet. I would ring first to make sure they aint frozen.
  9. Why? I hold my fish close to me so that i have better control of them and i aint interested in making my fish look bigger than they are. Most of the time nowadays i dont even bother with a pic unless its a pacticularly good looker or a fish i might of been chasing for a year or two.
  10. why is there some in there, thought it was all bream and pike.
  11. Not many carp mate it is a bream water which once held the bream record for Tony Bromley. Some nice pike to be had but as for carp it never used to do any. On one of the trees just over the road from the pub there used to be a sign with the phone number for inquiries. Jez
  12. Best I know of is 29lb just donbt believe what the bailiff tells you. I moved over onto trench and had some cracking fish out of there, lovely scaley dark mirrors.
  13. Not for a few years as once I caught them all I couldnt see the point of fishing it again. Also look out for problems with cars getting done over.
  14. It is almost impossible to get onto Belvide trust me Ive tried. Joining Brewood is one thing then getting onto belvide is something else. They dont like carp anglers on belvide full stop.
  15. Take some mixers they are suckers for a floater or two. It is shallow so beware of the swans and try to bait up when they aint around. A mate of mine is on the syndi and he has had some great results using baits from a company called pyramid baits. Jez
  16. Trench, middle, blue pool all have nights allowed.
  17. Well lets see, I have caught numerous 20s upto 29lb 14oz from the blue pool, over 20 different 20s upto 28lb + from Trench, the middle has loads of fish upto about 30lb, priorslee flash is hard with only about 20 carp but ive had a few of them, the wide has loads of doubles and a few 20s, dandy and castle have loads of singles and quite a few doubles, apley is the same. All of those and more on a TAA ticket for just £23 a year. Other than that Rod and Gun at dawley have two waters with quite a few nice fish for £5 a day, Dawley AC have hinkshay pools with loads of carp in, there are others about such as parkers pool, withy pool, wrekin rez etc. Try asking at the local tackle shops or just get a map and drive about in Telford Ive had 20s from 11 different waters and you wont catch me fishing that rat infested dump Bayliss.
  18. Plenty of good carp within a few miles of Bayliss for the price of a club ticket.
  19. Its a private syndicate mate, very hush hush and hard to get in to.

    pop ups !

That might be down to the pressure the fish are under and how this can make them a bit riggy at times. Most of my fishing is on waters that very rarely see another carp angler and the fish (if you can find them) aint usually that bad in regard of rigs. Still it goes to show how we observe different behaviour in similar situations and not to be blindfolded in our approach.

    pop ups !

I agree about the pop up issue with regards to larger carp as I always believed due to their size they can't get close enough to the lakebed to distinguish between the two.A critically balanced pop up will be the first to shoot up into the fish's mouth. Nick, Neil I agree about the carp not really being able to distinguish between pop ups and bottom baits most of the time more so over a choddy or weedy bottom and also Nick is spot on about using a simple rig. However Im not always certain about the critical balancing of baits having seen carp causing that much disturbance when feeding over a baited patch that the bait (pop up) was flying all over the place in the vortexes caused by the carp. In this case I just used a over shotted pop up which nailed them really well. I know a lot of anglers use and recommend critically balancing baits but for me its not the be all and end all.
