  1. Brim has some nice looking fish but not many of them, they aint massive upto 20+ but they are quality fish. Seggy has loads of carp in it, i would expect it to do a 20 this year. I use it as a floater water with my lad, we quite often have 10+ fish in an evening. Jez
  2. My set up is very similar to Keiths except i use the fox quick change swivels which negate to need to use the quick link. For some super free running leads i have made some using the carbide rings from catmaster tackle (Although fox do a similar set for marker work) this is attached to the lead by a short length of 6lb line which has been threaded through a small black polyball or piece of foam. The lead sits on the bottom always leaving the foam/carbide ring sitting above it for a mega smooth free running set up. A bit of hassle to make but i do a few at a time while sat infront of the box.
  3. Thats why i use them, got on to them while after the Barbel on the rivers due to snagging up so much.
  4. A nice piece of tackle for anyone using running leads are the Enterprise snag safe lead clips. These enable you to easily change lead size and remove the lead for transporting the rods but will release the lead if it should get snagged. They come in two types and both work really well. http://www.enterprisetackle.co.uk/terminalhtm/snagsafelead.htm http://www.enterprisetackle.co.uk/terminalhtm/newsnagsafelead.htm Jez
  5. Do you recall lifting scales when using mono for floater/zig fishing as i never have so you wont have any more problems using it straight through on your standard rigs.
  6. Hodnet to Whitchurch road on the left about 2 to 3 miles out of Hodnet fish on a day ticket
  7. Plenty of stories but no fish, it was mega slow. Del managed to get down to see us yesterday evening so the fishing was forgotton about and the social side of things took precedence. All in all a great weekend even if the fish didnt play ball.
  8. Right boys, i wont be on later as i'm off to merrington this afternoon after work. I need the extra day to carry out my baiting up plan which involves kg upon kg of bait (well a few pva bags anyway). See you all tomorrow i will have the pics waiting for you all.
  9. I will try and work my considerable charm on the young lady to get use of the lodge.

Also sorted out my secret tactics and bait for this weekend so hopefully it will be better than last Saturday's effort.

  19. Marchamley is between Hodnet and Whitchurch, Merrington is just outside Bomere Heath near to Shrewsbury. Baitboats are not allowed on Merrington. http://www.merringtoncarpfishery.co.uk/index.html
  20. There are some cracking fish in the water but also some horredous snags, depths very from 1ft down to 28ft and i've caught all over the pool. The summers can be a nightmare with the kids and idiots so i used to concentrate on the winter/spring. Dont listen to what some of the regulars tell you a lot of the time they are trying to put you off, the most common one is that it does't fish in the winter which from my photo you can see is rubbish. If you can get it quiet the fish are always in the margins, i've had big 20s from there within 3ft of the bank in places.
