  1. Cammy Yes I must admit that I have had several mirrors and commons this season between 6 and 13 there now...they are getting bigger and are all in great condition. I even caught a 7.5 common, one metre out, that had been feeding on the broken bits of boilie I had been throwing in....
  2. Howle is full of mirrors and commons between 2 and 12 lbs. It is a runs water. I had seven in three hours on Thursday before the rain forced me to abandon. Biggest was 9.15 and the smallest was 6.3. They are all growing fast, but it is VERY SHALLOW. You could always try Newport Canal. Don't laugh. The one section is £5 per day and has about 50 big carp in the basin. A friend of mine has had two 30s and I caught a 21.2 mirror yesterday - first cast.
  3. Yep, thanks for info. Fished many of those in matches as a junior years ago, but never for carp. Do any of them allow night fishing?
  4. Anyone know anything about Moss Pool, between Newport and Gnosall off the Aqualate Estate at Meretown. I used to fish it as a boy and caught many beautiful wildies and commons between 8 and 18 lbs. I hear that a syndicate may have it now and they keep themselves to themnselves, but I would like to go there again and have a go for old times' sake?
  5. Done four night sessions since July and caught every time, although avoiding the bream is the key to Bayliss. The first time I went I caught 47 of the damn things between 9oz and 3lbs. Method feeder, with halibut mix and crushed boilies was the cause with whatever boilie I used...it did not matter. The second time I went, bream were still around, but I managed two mirrors of 13lbs and 17lbs after dark. Since then it has been bream, bream and more bream. So much so that I took my rods out of the water to get some sleep last time because bream were taking 21mm boilies with PVA bags.... The whole pool is a bit run down, the bayliff is a bit of a 'character', it always seems to rain and the rats, pot holes and 24-hr roar from the nearby M54 will drive you mad....but I refuse to pay 60 squid to fish the Monument.
  6. I have fished the lake four times this year and it has rained cats and dogs each time. I have fished three morning sessions and one all-nighter before they stopped it. Each time I have caught between 2 and 17 carp with method feeder and small PVA bags working best as close to the road as you can. This lake is VERY shallow. You will get line bites and you will get fantastic takes, but the fish are small. There are many commons between 2 and 5 lbs and numerous mirrors between 3 and 7 lbs. There are the odd tench and even large roach on halibut pellet and small boilies...You won't catch a twenty from here, but you will have bites and maybe a few doubles... In 10 years' time, who knows?
