  1. Lol, I even remember a few instances of a Bare Hook being cast out over Hemp and catching!
  2. Any Reason quoted?
  3. Yes and yes! If you thread Hemp onto the Hair then I would suggest that you use Uncooked Hemp for the Hookbait (NOTE THIS IS FOR THE HOOKBAIT ONLY!). Definitely needs to be dry for it to stick to the Bogey.
  4. I have removed many of the Posts on this thread, posts referring to Alarms, Rods and some simply because Text Talk and the Spelling was so Bad. I did split and move some of the Posts on it into the Catch Report section The Subject is Big Carp in Essex. Please stick to the Topic
  5. Lol, I do that, then when I want them forget that they are there. I also have this problem that I see them sat in the Tackle Box, and look closely and realise that the Flipping things have perished when I need them
  6. Hookbait can be whatever you put in the Method Mix. The more ingredients and bits you have in your groundbait the more options you have for hookbait. If you search "method feeder" there is a thread on that that came up not that long ago I wouldn't use Shot on the Line when Carp Fishing as I worry about weak points that they may create. When Float Fishing I often Make a loop with the Mainline (not a knot) and thread that loop through the eye of the Float. Pull the Loop over the top of the Float and then pull the line tight, it creates a "lock" for the Float so that it doesn't move. You can also loosen it and slide the Float shallower or deeper. You can still use a standard swivel for the Hooklink attachment, giving you the choice of changing hooklink lengths quickly.
  7. Fish it Semi-Fixed so that on taking the Bait the Carp hook themselves against the weight of the Floating Feeder. Not sure of the Attachment of them, if you post a pic of it I could probably tell a good way of attaching it to the Mainline so that it can come off in the event of a breakage. As to hooklink length Experiment, as to what depths the Carp will take the Bait. Sometimes it may only be 5cms below the feeder, sometimes a lot longer using a slowly sinking Bait.
  8. This Lake is shaped like a Horseshoe, with the side nearest the Entrance being the shallower of the 2 sections. The 25 acre Big Fish Water holds some fantastic looking fish including the catchable "Grey Tail". There are something in the region of 5 different 30lb plus Carp, and the inimitable Carrot, a Bright Orange Koi, that comes out around the 25lb Mark There's everything you need at this place including; toilets, showers and a great cafe which delivers food directly to your swim if required. Day tickets available from the Site Office and MUST be purchased before Fishing. The lake can get busy in summer. Facilities: Toilets, shower and locked gates Contact: 01473 832327 Shaped like a Horseshoe, very weedy in places, gravel patches that will shred line, and Carp that move around the Lake very fast, normally away from pressure, especially the Carrot, a Koi that weighs about 25lb. The depths range from 3foot on the side nearest the Cafe, Tackle shop and ticket Lodge, to 15foot around the far side. The problem with SWP is that you can be doing very little wrong but blank for months, or equally be a complete muppet and catch on your first trip. Location is mega important and the Carp don't normally respond to Stalking tactics. Small Roach can tear a Bait apart in hours. I've seen quite a few people fish a bare hook without realising it overnight!
  9. Carp-R-Us Centurion are what I use for snaggier waters where I may have to hit and hold
  10. Think I may have bit of that I used to live in Norwich, well Thorpe St Andrew and on the Fiddlewood Estate
  11. Wensum Park? Thats the bit thats just downstream from Dolphin Bridge isn't it? Crazy, Have you had a look around the area behind Anglian Water Treatment works, between Heigham Street and the Ring Road or even Hellesdon Mill? Not a good area to park a Car though, you are miles away from it.
  12. Thread Moved into Rig Tying section and Duplicate Removed. No Need to post a Thread again if you make a Mistake! Just click on the Report a Post and give a reason why. It could pay to use the Search Facility, as this Sticky:http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22185, gives pictures of some Pop-up and Bottom Bait rigs. They should be pretty self explanatory
  13. lol, probably either or both, depending on which pic you use. If you use the one I put on first then a Pop-up on the single, and 2 bottom Baits. Or try 3 bottom baits. For the other set-up then either popped up or on the bottom.
  14. Thats true, I didn't mean it to sound like a slight on Danny Farebrass. Just that he seems to be doing the same as the "Norm" now. Yet the book shows some very good advice that he seems to have come away from?
  15. The Double Surgeons Knot (Water Knot), on the same Site, or this knot: Its more simple than it looks. Tie an Overhand Knot in the Stiff Material (as per Pic) with the braid going through it and then Uni Knot (on stoogi's linked site) down the Stiff material.

  17. A Free Running Lead, a Large eyed Run Bead, either running on Tubing or the Mainline/leader. When it comes to the Running Rigs themselves I get the Solar Run Rigs Solar do a Running Rig set-up complete: http://www.solartackle.co.ukand go to Business End. Try this Thread as well: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=26512&highlight=running+leads or as a True Running Lead set-up use this pic, and just don't use the Top Bead, or as it is its a shocka set-up: . You don't need to use the exact components as stated in the Pic, but its a starting point
  18. Cripes! You really need a picture of a Maggot Clip? or a picture of a Maggot clip attached to a loop at the end of the Rig? . The Maggot clip comes from Korda! imagine it tied onto a Ring or a Hair loop at the end of the rig
  19. great news slinger might have to get myself a copy of that book Ita a good book, just remember that Danny Fairbrass has changed his views slightlt since then towards mainstrean Carp Fishing since it was written.
  20. On a loop they actually come off quite easily. I played around with them and tested them and won't use them.

  22. Totally agree Tony. After all the hype about the korda maggot clips when they came out i went out a brought a packet, i took one look at them on the bank and binned them. I have got to say that i think they are the most over rated piece of end tackle that has been released in years. The gage of the wire is far too thick, the presentation is total pants, they are over priced and not to mention the damage one could cause if it happened to come undone while a fish is hooked. Zander go down the bait floss route it is cheaper, the presentation is far better and a lot safer. I agree totally.I said this from day 1,give me a bunch of maggots D rigged via a needle and cotton anyday just for natural appearance.Like you say if it comes undone or you break off during the fight the fish'll have 2 lumps of metal to contend with. Either the Needle and Hair braid/cotton or a Medusa Rig everytime for me. Since its possible to make maggots float though the Braid/cotton presentation looks far more natural than a ball of maggots on a cork ball popped up Not sure its just you. My Mate bought some and they burst just about every single maggot he tried putting on them the point was so blunt, and that was the smaller size.
  23. A pop-up is a bait that is fished off the bottom and weighted down so that it is at a fixed Distance above the bottom of your choice. Normally overweighted in most cases. Yet to critically balance a bait is so that the hook and Hookbait only just sinks, almost neutral buoyancy, behaving like a free bait. It can be a single bait or a multiple presentation. Best way to do that is to decide if it is: a) too buoyant, then add tiny pieces of putty to the rig or trim the pop-up, until it only just sinks. b) too heavy, then trim the bottom bait(s) so that the pop-up (foam, plastic corn etc) does the same effect of the almost neutral buoyancy. Does that help, or is anyone able to explain it better than that?
  24. Try a search for Zig Rigs, or PM Courtz
