  1. Not sure on the actual make-up of the bottom of the bottom lake, other than the areas around the Pump/rope and the margins along there. I tend to only fish it as an occasional, and not for a while as I have a couple of other waters on the go at the moment. Sorry Mate, you'll have to get the marker rod out at some point to find the depths of the middle of the lake. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to map out the bottom lake other than visually near the snags as there were people fishing when I was down there
  2. Was playing with something similar a while ago. I wanted a bottom bait on the shank and a way of lifting the hook up above the bait near the point. Basically I wanted a variation of what I think Jan Wenckza called the "over rig", where the hook was lifted above the bait. Pop-up maize/corn on the "point" hair, bottom bait on the shank. You may be onto something with a pop-up on the shank and a bottom bait on the point as well, although the mechanics may take some thinking about and explaining. No, not more to play with
  3. Welcome to the forum It may pay to go through the Sticky at the top of the French fishing section: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=19962 Lakes and Fisheries in France and see if anything suits. Can you please avoid Capitals on the forum, its seen as shouting/being aggressive
  4. The bottom lake is a lot harder than the top lake. The usual places the Carp show in the summer are not the same as the winter because of the depth of the lake. The places for the summer tend to be near the rope/pump swim and around the margins. It is hard work to find the fish in the winter, it may be worth trying a Zig Rig from the bottom up to the top until you can find the Carp Baitwise for a long time both lakes have been fishing well on Trigga, Trigga Pellets. I have an idea of the largest Carp in the lake, but its not a confirmed, and I haven't spoken to the person who told me for a while so I can't confirm yea or nea unfortunately
  5. Is that the Maggot Clips or the Medusa or maggot presentation?
  6. Have a look at the dates of the link: Team Screaming Delkims 2005 Look closely at the beads. If the lake is clear then they may be able to get off the Leadcore. The one that the swivel is on also looks like a bead that splits into 2, so the swivel can release the rubber stop holding it in place may also slide up and down the leadcore. Either way Leadcore not my favourite stuff after loads of experiments and that does look a bit "dodgy".
  7. Whoa, where did that come from?? Your geographical knowledge was never in question... lol, I know just in case someone thought I was being smart and saying that Epping and Basildon were right next to each other. Epping, the place where I was born and Southend the place where London escapees go for a holiday. Even worse I had to work on Canvey Island! I do know that there are a few lakes in Epping Forest area, and I also know about a few near the M25 closer to Basildon, unfortunately I can't divulge that many. If you come up as far as Ingatestone you have Fryerning Fisheries, not sure if that is full yet, but it is expensive. Have a look at Essex Grange, Arena and Aquatels though. I know some have been mentioned in the past on here
  8. I'm not totally sure of all the advantages of a Combi Link to be honest. I do know that the top stiffer section reduces tangles, and also lays the hooklink flat. At a new water this year I couldn't hook a Carp on my standard braided hooklinks, and I had to play around until I got a presentation the Carp would take. I ended up with Combi links that seemed to settle on top of the weed, or just as nicely on the clear patches. If you go to http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22185 there are a couple of pics of Combi Links in there. I use Amnesia for the Top section and whatever Braid I feel comfortable with for the hook section
  9. Another one for you. Silicon Tubing is softer than most rig tubing (a pain in the butt to thread though), so lays down on the Lakebed more naturally. It does fit into most Protecta style beads To break up the outline on green silicon go over it with a Permanent Marker Pen in patches and weird shapes. Specially thought out to keep the less intelligent busy for a while Actually it does work
  10. As good as Fishery Owners are, don't forget they will get into Self Publication. Are any of the Lakes that are mentioned in this thread any good: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=19962 It is the French Lakes and Fisheries Sticky from the top of the section. Most of the lakes mentioned have a website address in here, or in most cases a phone number and e-mail. If you go through the Forum with a search on the particular lakes mentioned then I'm sure you may find some information and threads on them.
  11. Just set an hour aside for searching Re Particular lakes, In that case specify a particular Lake Also you are going to find it very difficult to get info on particular syndicate lakes in that Basildon/Epping area. Some are very closed shop, and not a lot is given away. So the only way is to specify a particular Lake. Don't correct me on the difference in locations, I know Epping is inside M25, close to Theydon Bois, Loughton, Buckhurst Hill etc, and Basildon is the other side near to Southend.
  12. Recommendation, try putting Essex Waters in as a Search. Essex waters as a search brings up 104 threads There are a few clubs mentioned, Sudbury and District, CAPS, Kelvedon and District. I know that there are plenty of threads about Essex Waters. You may also need to stipulate North or South Essex
  13. Keep it simple, have a search round the forum, cos the same question keeps coming up and the same answers keep getting posted. The one that works!
  14. Can you give an idea of location, county or nearby, and is that the correct spelling? Other people may know it by another name Only querying as it may show up on the search, (although if it is right I know it won't!)
  15. If it works for you and the fish accept the bait like that then its a good idea. Put it this way... You have to try it to find out
  16. Go to the Sticky mentioned at the top of the Rig Tying section. If you look through the pics there are some showing a Line Aligner. The Hooklink material comes out of the front of the Tubing over the eye. The Tubing I usually use is either fine silicon tubing or Shrink Tube. Available from various Tackle Manufacturers, or from an Electronics Shop
  17. Read the post below very carefully.
  18. Im just sitting here trying to figure out how you can actually sew 10 - 20 odd maggots onto a polyball. I honestly just cant see it. It will be a new one on me when i get shown that, thats for sure Rig Foam is a lot easier than a Polyball
  19. I like B175's for Pop-ups, or the Super Specialists. Another type of pattern I like is a Hook with an OUT TURNED Eye. This is for when I want the bait tight to the hook shank. I got some Kevin Nash Outpoint hooks ages ago (years) and I'm still running on the last few. On the few occasions I use a pop-up bait I like the hook actually on the lakebed (or rather the putty round the eye)
  20. Use what works for you! I have moved this into Rig Tying section of the forum If you look in the Rig Tying sticky at the top of the section: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=22185 there are pics of rigs tied on Braid, Amnesia, Coated Braids (which can be fished as a combi link, just strip some of the coating back near the hook) and some Combi Links. Also this link at the top of the section gives a link to various Animated knot tying: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=25551 I tend to stick to Braid or coated braid for nearly all of my fishing. It is what gives me confidence and it works for me, although I do have some combi links. If you type in Shockleader knot as a search I am sure that there is a diagram somewhere as I remember posting the pic myself! (probably on the thread Using a Shockleader safely)
  21. Anything in this to suit? http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=19962 You'll probably find full wedpages as well as e-mail addresses. If you go to the search page: http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/search.php and search all terms on some of the venues that are mentioned you may also bring up a few threads
  22. Tom Boulton and John Wilson had adjoining properties (or very close).
  23. I'll try to find out about Lenwade, don't think I have anything new on it. There are loads of Lakes around Witchingham and Lenwade area that are/were privately owned or syndicate
  24. I believe the theory was that when the Carp blew the bait out it slid up the ring towards the eye of the hook and the hook dropped into the fishes lip. First forerunner of the Blowback rigs that have been heavily publicised recently. It receives a decent breakdown in Rod Hutchinson's The Carp Strikes Back and also Tim Paisley's To Catch a Carp. I've debated the merits of it against the Blowback rigs with Tubing on the hookshank in the past. With a D-rig if the bait is blown out it can reset itself, yet with tubing you have an indication of your rig being sussed. The D-rig can be used for bottom baits as well as pop-ups, and it does work, YES I HAVE tried it and caught fish on it. Let me see if i've got this right, as i need to visualise things cause im awkward and fussy; When the Bait is blown out, the ring is pushed back against the eye of hte hook, this would assist in pushing the hook at a 90 degree angle, would it not, causing the hook to create a larger surface area and increase the chances of it catching the lip. Am i right? Sounds right, you've got me playing with rigs in my hand now trying to simulate how it works. The bait is blown back up the loop towards the eye. As it gets to the end of the loop (near the eye or extension back up the hooklink), the bait will drop down, thus pulling the eye end down and the hook will drop into the lip or cheek (dependant on the water "jet" from the Carp). The D-rig and the Sliding Hair rigs were the next step on from the standard Hair rig, and came about at the same time on Savay; Roger Smith with the D-Rig and Rod Hutchinson with the Sliding Hair. Both were in response to the Carp getting wary of the standard hair!
