  1. Can you please say the one who can not be named or you know who...
  2. i have fished there for two seasons, i've been doing all right this year, had 4 out so far biggest being 21lb 3oz. The lake is very silty, if you are going up for a day session i recommend fishing one of the last two swims on the far side (the snag swims). Casting tight to the snags gives you the best chance of catching a fsh. My avatar picture is one of the fish i caught up there recently. I dont think fruity bottom baits go well up there, stick to fishy baits (squid and octopus etc..) Bright pop ups also go well. Zigs have been known to work. In the summer the carp come to the surface (ooooh ) but they are very hard to catch off the top as they spook easily. other good places to fish are one of the car park swims, cast one out midwater and the other cast onto the dam quite far out. Walk round drop your rig in and chuck out lots of particle, pellets and hookbaits etc... Good luck Sam.
  3. Nothings impossible, just maybe that more work and effort is needed, i wonder what would happen if we all had that attitude....

  5. I doubt you will find a local water with the chance of catching a 30 easy, unless there is a couple of 30's in the lake and the rest mid doubles. Thats not to say a double is not a nice fish, its just if you are out with high hopes of catching a 30 dont be expecting one straight away.
  6. Hunstrete's main lake (bathampton) is a challenging water with several 30lbers in there including a 30lb common. There are lots of fish throughout the 20lb range aswell.
  7. Me and my friends are off to Hunstrete lakes on saturday, just wondered if anyone has any news on captures etc..
  8. Use a 12" hook-link with a hook set up that you are confident in and see how it goes. if you aren't getting bites make it longer or shorter and see what works Also- i would avoid inline leads unless the carp are feeding in the silt I would recommend the brown fox cortex coated braid for your hook-link choice You can never really say for certain and you will need to experiment Ok, thanks alot i will experiment next time i go (saturday) i'll use a bait im confident with (that i now catches) then alter the rig.
  9. there is no gravel bars, the carp tend to accumulate near snaggy areas, im unsure about the silt, i would imagine in and around the silt, casting a heavy lead would cause it to sink in to the silt, and people are catching.
  10. The lake i am currently fishing has a very very silty bottom, do you recommend a specific type of rig for this?
  11. thank's kris, i live about 50mins from there so might give it a go one do
  12. I only use two main rigs, a standard bottom bait rig and a pop up rig, both of which are extremely simple. Should i keep to these or try out new types of rigs, will this improve my chance of catching?
