MOORLAND FISHERIES 2011 CATCH REPORT
coops_northants replied to moorsey's topic in French Catch Reports
No way, that is huge, what an awsome result. That is the longest common i had ever seen so im not supprised at all. If thats 52lb...... how big will the long common be..... some lucky angler may find that out soon. I really want to get out there again soon Keith, maybe a short one 3-4 days, monday morning to thursday evening one week maybe. -
I baited up with a catapult, short range and tight spots. I would sit and watch the fish for weeks to see the routes they move around the lake and where to place your baits. they are extremely mobile on there and you could time your runs when te fish are due to be in each area. Alwing the routes you find swims where you get a couple of goes a day at the fish, once as the come through and then on the way back and the times they would do it. If you sit and watch for an hour or so you will see where they move in your swim then just fish to those areas

i have fished elson a bit in the past, done 24 hours for the first time in 3 years about a month back and had 2 fish. Its really easy on there at the minute, loads of fish to go for. a quick lead about for the clear silt and a bag on the top with a tipped bait seems to be the in way on there. if you have the chance to bait up prior to fishing then this lake really responds well to it. Less distrubance and keeping it tight and tidy will see you have plenty of fish.

Incredible, I cant believe i dont have enough time to get out there this year, Im going to miss my trip out to Moorlands with the fish in such fantastic condition and so very big. The pictures of arfur were great, what a stunning fish, breeze block like. Roll on september and october when they huge. Definately one of them will be over 60lb this year, if not a few more -

think its castle angling -
What an awsome report, you will need a holiday to recover from that.

Yeah it can be but i dont worry about it too much, there are certain areas that never weed up too much and produce some fish regularly. I used to fish into the light green silk weed during the days with pop ups straight off the lead at 12 inchs with a couple of kilos of boilies spread out of the throwing stick. Might be worth going there with a rod and lead and have a quick look about and feel just prior to fishing. one evening in the week should do it.
-
Any decent Red boilie used to be the winner on there. Over the years the source did well and Bang on Baits DSM and also Mistral No name. Its not too hard on there just go easy with the marker and spod. a quick lead about is about as much as you can get away with and the fish give themselves away if you keep an eye on the water. The easterly wind turning south with the bright sun i would guess the fish would be swiming up and down the back bank and holding in the aquarium and no carp corner during the days.

Good lake and some quality fish, well worth a go and normally fishes well this time of year.

Striker, In that post you managed to show everyone exactly the difference. Im sure if people had the oppertunity to fish 6 weeks in france over a year they would have a mixed plan of different fishing. Finding themselves fishing rivers, inland sea's and the pay lakes. Lets also look it from another perspective, (My persepective) I work 6 day weeks, 12 hour days most days if not more. During my year i consentrate on my uk fishing and take it, in the main very seriously. Now when i have a holiday, 2 a year i dont want to struggle on mis information, and have to put in loads of effort in my fishing during my holiday as i have to make the effort all year just to go fishing anyway. For a holiday i want to relax, socialise, chill out and the best run package waters like Moorlands offers me that. I can book up and know what i am going to get, which is well looked after, great facilities, some cracking banter, the chance of some monster carp in pretty well perfect condition but best of all the chance to relax and just enjoy being there. If i had the chance to fish for 6 holidays a year, explore i would diffinatly do, but only after i have had the rest and relaxation that these well run fisheries offer.

nice one doug, i might get down there for a bit of a go if i get chance in the next couple of weeks.

Had a walk around stanwick the today and found some fish on the back of the wind in mallard sunning themselves. shame i never had the rods. Welham is a decent winter water with the chance of a good un. -
Strawberry Lake Hannington, Northants
coops_northants replied to bowza's topic in UK Venues and Where to Fish
I know the pool quite well, used to floater fish it in the summer evenings for something to do. I know that about 6-7 years ago a bit of the stock was removed ad some of the bigger fish too which was done by stanwick lakes and the fish went into elsons roman and mallard. There is still a good stock of fish there and the last time i fished it was winter about 5 years ago for the day. I found the fish were at about 5-6 foot and had a fish late in the day on a zig. I fished the main flat bank and found the fish huddled together in the car park corner of the lake where its shallower. -
lake, just before stanwick on the A45

Not much point in fishing the 3 corner. Jason is doing them as a ticket and if you was to have that then i would target the big lake. Loads of fish STILL in there and some suprises. Also you will have loads of space for yourself to fish in peace. Well worth the money asked which i believe is still £80 for the year. -

Sam, Its still Jason running the fishing on there. There are some developements happening with the waters which will help things over there in the next few years. James was going to run the long lake as a syndicate/ticket water but there is loads of work to be done on there first and the track still needs some work. If you want some information nearer the time give me a call. -

yep, club ticket. Never fished it to be honest. Some good waters oposite that one also. Irthlingborough big lake etc. -
Best time i ever fished bluebells was in febuary. if you know the winter areas then its worth a look as it used to have good winter form for the right areas.

Dave i would definatley recomend Keiths Place. I have been twice and enjoyed every minute of it. Cracking water with cracking fish. Keith is a top host as well even if on the next trips he makes you listen to the repeated jokes. September is a fantastic time at Moorlands and the fish are absolute chunks which i am sure they will be much bigger again this year coming. I am hopeing to get out there for a week at some point in 2011 if i can make the time and if Keith will have me My description, "the carp holiday that ticks all the boxes"

I xheked recently for a quick trip and the prices were rediculous. portsmouth to caen was £287 this would have near doubled for my van and that was for a 3 day trip and just rules it all out. Im hopeing i can find a few deals like the one last year through sea france at £40 return.

Its well worth it, some belting fish, its just a shame the track is more widely known than the fishing....
