Most of the farms are selling them at £10.50 to £13 per gallon depending on colour/quality. So 85p per pint is great value for money. If you know this guy can you do me a favour and ask him about casters, what price he can do these for. Don't mind if they are slightly older as these make a good spod bait for zig fishing.

If you do take maggots, split them down into smaller quantities and put them in freezer bags, take all the air out and put the bags in a cool box. They will last fine for a week no problem. Just put them in the fridge for a day or two before you go to really chill them. Also they wont go that far from the spot, they don't wriggle away but sometimes they will try to bury themselves, I would use mainly deads as live ones die fairly quickly in water and I would top up with live ones In bags just for the movement factor. You will be able to buy dead maggots for next to nothing or phone your local tackle shop to keep back the old ones and kill them yourself you will get them loads cheaper.

I use lead clips regularly, but I would like to think I know how to use them without causing issue. I bought a few packs of the fox safety run beads, really like them. The lead pops off easily, enough resistance to get a bolt effect. Just need a lead or ring system that works better with them and they would be perfect. One like the old enterprise run rig that they stopped making.

I know a couple of lads that go every year, they do well on there using a load of techniques. If you book let me know and I'll give you a tip which is genius, caught the biggie twice in a week by the same angler last year included in a 17 fish haul.....

looking for a runs water for anglers with mixed abilities
coops_northants replied to colors's topic in Fishing in France
La fonte is worth a look for small groups, 3 to 5 people or double up on the swims for 6, 4 is ideal though. My mate has been twice and I went September and enjoyed it, really tidy and active. I had 33 fish from doubles to upper 30s and could have had more. Spent a day roach fishing which is awesome. I had a couple of carp on the waggled too. I am thinking about booking lac baleine for September which looks good and sounds like the improvements will make it a good place for lage groups. If there is 8 of you then booking Keith's moorland fishery would be a good option, not difficult fishing and with the help and advise from keith and robin you should all catch fish with a chance of a real monster, and at times you can have the week of a lifetime if the fish get on the feed. I can't wait to go back, which should be may this year all being well. Also check out the site sponsors, great feedback from lakes like genesis and rushes and off the back of jemsue recommendation for rushes a mate of mine is booked there for June this year and really looking forward to it. Hope that helps. -
You could just use knots that don't slip. Use a loop, the fold is always the length of the rig. You can clip them on or loop to loop it with a swivel. the loops also acts as a boom section to kick it all away from the lead and keep it away on the cast. If you don't like or want a loop then the palomar knot also allows for a non slip knot. Again Where you fold it is the length you end up with, very strong too and good with mono but not so good with braid.

The cider is packed also, the van is ready to make its incredible journey. Leaving in about 2 hours for the ferry and should be fishing by 2 pm I have 120kg of boilies and 50 kg of nutra parr/GLM halibut pellets and 10 kg of maize, that should scare them off for the week........ Catch you all soon, might even manage a little video diary go the place.

where for a birthday social?
coops_northants replied to blythy's topic in UK Venues and Where to Fish
I will hopefully be doing thisnext year for birthday... a week in france. You could try stanwick lakes elsons lake for booking or mallard lake. the whole lakes normally works out at just over 300 quid which is ideal for a social up to 10 people. easy to get to, loads of 20s and a few 30s and the local takeaway delivers to you. you can all fish off one bank and fish 8 people along it maybe 9 if you double up on the point. -
ant powder......... much more usefull well unless you are giving the bait to the ants as a sort of peace offering.

after what happened to me last time at moorlands, i would take some ant powder and killer spray. I went to bed one night and as i was laying there i saw something move on the edge of the sleeping bag in the half light of the moon. i brushed it off then felt something on my neck so i reached down and picked up the head torch, when i turned it on i saw ants on my pillow then as my eyes adjusted i saw them on the bed. I lifted the pillow to a sight that would say with me forever, the bed moved as the ants realised i had found them out, it was like when you was a kid and you distrubed a nest with a stick. as i slowy looked down the bag i saw more ants and they were all over me and the bed. i dived out and on inspection they had totally over run the brolly the bed, the tea kit, the tackle bag, everything. I then was given a can of ant killer by Keiths wife Jan, very much appreciated and also some ant powder. I had to pack everything up, get my spare bag and then set everything back up in a different spot in the open away from the cover of the trees and bushs. then finaly to sleep. Gives me the ebeygeebies just thinking about it.

you should do mate. i would try and fish it on the move, maybe bait a spot then try and pinch a few fish to settle me down and then sit it out on the now couple of day old bait with no lines in the way for a couple of days. depends how many are on. Thats going to be my tactics for a weeks time.

yeah, Old JRC lake isnt it? supposed to be a good test, not easy but one for those who dont mind working at it.

see one the other day tha looks like the lakestar boat and sells for £250, think it was on ebay. I was going to buy one for france in september and the commnets from purchasers look good too.

sandhurst a million times easier than fishing bluebells. if you are hopeing for a few bites then head for the mallard or sandmartin maybe bluebell as these would give you the easier options. be ready for the weed in places and fish tidy as these fish see it all week in week out, that said the rewards are awsome, some stunning fish to be had. The place is immaculately kept and makes for a nice stay.

Guys, if you can hook a pva bag on your choddie and cast it out without the bag weight dragging the hooklink all the way up your mainline then you souldnt be fishing. For that to happen the link would need to be fixed. With this type of arrangement the hooklink should be free to slide off in the event of a crack off or the line snapping. With so many people using this rig and so many that try to re create the wheel when is not necessary issues arise. use it as its intended and the results will be just fine and the fish you fish for much safer.

Buy rigmarole fluro, all you do is pull it straight, its awsome.

Would this hook be classed as a curved shank hook?
coops_northants replied to tronic's topic in UK Rig Tying
Are you sure the fishery has banned them or long shank curved hooks (often referred to as a bent hook) If they have then use a different hook set up instead of a kd style hair. Kd is not everything and many other arrangements are as good or in my opinion often better. -
Good fishing with light gear. i only fished one night on there with my little brother about 2 years back and had a good time. we had around 20 fish from 4pm to 4 am on 2 rods. Great for the social, all pitch up together and fish out to the stream bed on the arm and you will have loads of fish.

Would like a bash there also, looks spot on. So much fun to be had getting guest sessions and trying new places. Might do a last minute trip to sandy tomorrow night if I get away from work in time. Off next Wednesday too so might drop on the nene then hopefully a guest session on a nice water the week after.

Guys, i have some time free from work for fishing over the next few weeks which after a very busy june i was looking forwards to getting out and amongst the fish. However the syndicate is now closed for 3 weeks so looking for a short term ticket for a water or a few cheeky invites to fish as a guest. If anyone can offer either i would be happy, mid week fishing only due to work and will travel anywhere in the country. Thanks guys.
