  1. Just started loading me car... I'm doing 2 days... I'm sure I took less for a week on Redmire...😳 gotta try and lighten me kit...😒 Gotta get a smaller stove first off, and a smaller long stay bag... smaller food bag... The actual fishing side is already as compact as its going to get... the wideboy has got to go... it weighs a ton, especially with a 5 season frostbite bag on it...😳 If I fished the way I wanted to fish I'd have a ton less bait too, but the accepted method on Berners is for a big bed of bait... so spod rod/reel/Spombs/pellets/nuts/maggots, 3 kg of boilies sigh...!!!...
  2. A day session for me is.. small ruckie, chair, rods, net, bait, brolly, flask... job done... only thing missing is a fish...🤣😎👍
  3. Pimped my old match platform for the trip and turned it into a 3 wheeler so I can load everything for 1 trip
  4. Been getting my toys ready for Tuesday's trip.. Being quite OCD, I try not to leave anything to chance, but I really need to try and take less gear... got all the tackle ready, just bait and food to go... brekky and daytime snacks to buy, takeaway of an evening, couple of beers... Anyone else like me...? 4 kitchen sinks and the world and his dog just for 2 nights...?🤣
  5. Got a 48hr planned on Berners Hall res from tuesday... some lumps coming out and with the high pressure forecast for next week I see one of my rods with a zig on it...👍🎣🎣🎣
  6. To be honest I've not heard anything of the Prologic... a buddy has an advanta bivvy (an old 2 man) and he loves it, to be honest I'd always go for an established name in bivvies JRC is a good make and reliable and quite reasonably priced... sorry I can't help further... Good luck👍
  7. Cheers Carpbell... looking for summat small and intimate... thats bit open fer us old boys (all pensioners) and a bit closer to Gloucester, one of our lads lives in west Wales so needs to be central... Many thanks though...👍
  8. No worries... just remember, if he starts getting bored just end the session.. nowt puts a kid off more than being made to do summat they don't want to... you can always go back later for another go
  9. There you go... easy peasy
  10. A 3m whip, chair, net, disgorger... job done I was an Angling Coach for 11 years... a whip is always first port of call for youngsters... a cheap whip is about a fiver, a cheap rig can cost a couple of quid, you'll no doubt have a net and disgorger... and a little chair, the Range do some kids chairs... Get rigs with barbless hook just in case of the odd accident... keep the session down to 2 hours max if your lad has attention deficit...and go to a prolific venue... nowt worse than blanking... tight lines..👍
  11. Summat small ish and intimate for preference.. there's only a few of us...
  12. A few of us Traditional cane waggling chaps are looking for a whole lake venue for a social, a few fish would be nice, not rock hard... Any ideas Lads...? Thanks in anticipation...👍
  13. Nice bit of 70's classical prog for a Tuesday One of the early Genesis tracks played by Steve Hackett's "Genesis Revisited"... Steve was the last member of the lineup to leave permanently back in 1977. the guitar solo in this is just sooooo melodic without widdly widdly histrionics... and the whole piece is so close to the original as to be uncanny.... I love prog...
  14. No auto tune or effects here... just a blinding voice
  15. Bet they start cutting swims and spreading chippings all over the place... I really question their approach to their fisheries... I've been twice and I was hoping to get back next year... I won't bother now...
  16. Have a look at Berners Hall... the Res is 24 acres with a big head of fish and on a day ticket... don't bother booking a weekend though it gets rammed ( all swims booked til nov for weekends) theres also Birds Green on day ticket... Chelmsford has a lot of night venues, BUT.... they ain't cheap. And theres Ongar and District only 1 night venue and limited tickets and membership
  17. Owdo mate.. sounds like you're not too far from me... the Brentwood fishery, was that Tylers Common...? Try Billericay DAS for carp venues they have a lot of nice waters, plenty of fish in nice surroundings ( only a couple available for nights though) or for a challenge theres Berners Hall reservoir
  18. Same as Fox and Ngt... good mats, you need a sling to weigh and slip the fish back though
  19. Prawn on a big hook and freelined... how simple do you want it...? 😛👍
  20. Hope so... be a bit of a pain if its outside and the weather is pants
  21. Is now the North Weald Carp Show... seems the deal with the Brentwood Sports centre has fallen through, or come to an end, so now its on North Weald... not sure if its inside or out... its usually the venue for the Saturday market... dates 26th/27th March
  22. Oddly enough, there's nowt I need or want fishing wise... could do with changing the Bike... not really gelling with the Bonneville Bobber, don't think the missus 'd be too pleased though
