  1. That said... one of these works just as well... ye olde hot water bottle... I bet the heated bag is north of 200 sovs
  2. Dunno why it hasn't been done before... could've done with one in 2018 when I did a week on Redmire... I pitched my bivvy on snow... froze me plums of for nearly 4 days out of the 7
  3. Have a listen to Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" From the Division Bell album... Awesome.... as always
  4. Awesome track...👍
  5. As you may surmise... I love Blues
  6. The issue I had was that a Dwarf rod did not fit into a scope bag... the reel seats are in different positions so the reel did not sit in the reel pouch correctly... IIRC the Dwarf reel sat is closer to the butt end of the rod than the scopes and the reel snagged in the pouch section of the bag
  7. A couple of lessons from someone who can chuck it a long way would probably get the distance with the kit you already have... I could just about manage 100mts... an hour with Terry Edmonds and I was hitting 140mts (admittedly with his rods 12' 3.5lbs casting 2.5 - 3oz weights) with a spod/spomb rod and a loaded spod/spomb you should hit the mark, it just needs someone to show you how
  8. In winter their metabolic rate slows as does digestion... less movement means less food required... therefore less protiens and fats needed to maintain condition
  9. Did that yesterday...
  10. I stopped using oiled pellets ages ago... I use coarse pellets as they break down quickly... That said, I've often found that pellets tend to make carp pre-occupied with them... especially micros and flavoured ones more so... I used softened 2mm and Goo-ed pellet in bags, the fish were tearing up the bottom to get every morsel of 2mm pellet, yet ignored the hookbaits... now I use a matching hookbait and pellet glug and I get better results
  11. Yes there are a few... I used one a good few years back... Les Quis is the one I used... they are still going I think "Your Trip - Les Quis" https://www.lesquis.com/your-trip/
  12. Spot on mate... When I blanked I used to beat meself up mentally every time.. "why didn't I catch ? What could I have done differently ? Was I in the wrong spot ? Now if I blank... so what...? Since I took the pressure off I have caught more and enjoyed my sport from an aesthetic point of view taking more notice of nature and surroundings... enjoy the journey as well as the destination...👍
  13. Putting carbon on the back burner and fishing with vintage gear... best thing by far in all my fishing... I packed up match fishing and started fishing for myself once I stopped using carbon... now pretty much all my fishing is done with old gear... I doesn't catch me more... but I'm happier on my days out now the pressure is off
  14. Bank Tackle are pretty good and priced fairly too
  15. Ours not to reason Why... ours just to catch and buy... ( more)🤣😛
  16. Pot noodles or porridge... hi carb slow release keeps you filled up for longer... just add boiling water... or a big packet of choccie suggestives
  17. Had ATTS's for ages, love em... wife bought me a set of TXi's for me birthday last month and I love em too... I had Fox's with a wired sounder box back in the day and I still have a set of 3 Optonics... circa 1978-82 ish
  18. Size 4 hook.... big prawn.... no lead.... just fish overdepth some broken prawns and 8mm pellets... hang onto your hat... ( and the rod)
  19. Couldn't afford the Mortgage... they are supposed to be a bit good though
  20. These rods are not cheap and in all honesty you could do the same with an 8 or 9 foot carbon rod of 2.5lbs/2.75lbs or so... Rod poundage isn't set in stone for big fish... Walkers 44lber was caught on a rod of 1.5lbs test curve... Yates's 51lber came on an Avon of about 1.25lbs... cane is expensive for named rods... I'd stick with the black stuff if I were you...😛🤣
  21. My cane rods are approx 2.75lbs test curve at 9'3"... they handle 20's with little or no effort and I was in the process of playing one of Ashmead's 'A' team on one when the hook pulled... this little chap went 22lb 6 oz on a little 8 foot stalking rod
