  1. Welcome to the forum fellah...😎👍
  2. Sorry to hear of your health probs Nick... backs are fragile things on the quiet... mine is knackered with collapsed discs in my lower back giving probs... Pilates and Yoga have helped but being immobile is murder on yer back... keeping moving is best... get well soon ...👍😎
  3. I have a pair of the 4000 Aero X baitrunners nice reels, well made, not a great fan of the double handles though, for a Shimano the clutches are quite smooth, I know its not the exact model, but I'd imagine the basic Aero X platform is fairly standard
  4. I use the lead free leaders, I make em up at home so I can swap em over quickly.. they have a small loop in the leader at the mono end and the lead slides nicely over end, so are quite safe... l got em off the bay... think there were 10 for £12 posted... I use light leads of 1.5oz max with small bags as I don't want to overstress my cane rods on the chuck... as a system I find they work well... just gotta buy more 1.5 and 1oz leads to make up a batch of bags per session...
  5. Not coffee... it'll make you pee more as its an emetic, tea or chocolate is good, but soup is more warming for longer... take a flask of soup, loads of food flasks about so a chunky soup with bread and butter is a warming meal, pots of porridge are also good warmers with a slow energy release... you can buy the pots in tescos ets... get the ones you just add water to, boil up the kettle pour in the water leave for a minute and stir... good warming brekky (or dinner if you prefer)
  6. Tips for keeping warm... Eliminate gaps... gaps cause draughts, tuck joggers into socks, wear long sleeved tee shirts pulled down to the wrists, wear a scarf or neck warmer, and a good hat... the Trapper style is very good at keeping your head warm, and Neoprene gloves will keep hands warm, if you don't like gloves buy a Muff, and put a hand warmer in... brill at keeping hands toasty
  7. Try Future Fishing in Newark, ask for reel servicing dept... they sorted my Wychwood QD5500 caps for me
  8. Welcome to the forum... carping is a never ending quest for summat bigger... Take care it doesn't consume you...👍😎
  9. I use metal bait screws on popups as it adds to the weight to counterbalance the rig, means you use less putty, if any at all...
  10. I love winter fishing... the rivers are flushed through and the chub want to play and all the fair weather carpers are tucked up at home, I'll be on the bank...
  11. I'm giving all fishing a swerve til the temps drop a bit... I really don't like the high temps we've been having... it hit 33° here on monday and I had a coaching trip... hated it... we caught, but it was too hot really... its rumoured to be hitting nearly 40° by monday... I struggle to sleep in this heat, makes me sluggish so I'll sit park my bum in front of a fan til it cools down a tad
  12. Interlok sticks and buzz bars... reassuringly expensive and VERY good quality... also they fit into my Fox micro pod and stage stands... Job done...👍
  13. I heard on the grapevine that Prestige have been bought out by Korda... expect huuuuge price increases from Saint Danny of Fairbrass's mob if that is the case...
  14. Still got my ATTS's cracking alarms for the money... mine are pimped with matching colour wheels and isotopes
  15. Me QD5500's all sorted, one turn of the cap from locked to freespool or vice versa
  16. Future fishing, Newark... they also do customising I'm told
  17. Big up to these lads in the reel servicing dept. They managed to resurrect my busted Wychwood QD5500 and convert both to a quick drag system instead of that utter pile of poo that comes as standard...The reels themselves are okay it was Wychwoods drag caps that failed... a pants design that was utterly useless and damn fiddly to preset properlyFuture fishing have fitted the caps from ESP reels and fitted their ICE washer system so it comes back as a reliable quick drag...Cheers lads
  18. Prices rocketed when the supposed fuel shortage arrived... didn't drop back once fuel stated pumping again though did they....? prices rocketed when that tanker got stuck... didn't go back down again though did they...? prices rocketed after lockdown... idiots trying to recoup losses they'll never see and lose customers in the meantime and they'll not lower them again will they...? as a case in point, prices all over europe have gone up so its not just Brexit... what excuse are some of these morons going to jump on next as an excuse to put prices up further I wonder...??? Addendum... Sunak cut fuel duty... what did the fuel companies do... put the price up... greed... nowt but greed
  19. All fishing tackle has rocketed sadly... to be fair a lot of it is greed with no earthly reason for adding a phone number to the price of a mundane bit of kit Example... trakker kettle... £19... go outdoors £4.99 their gas stoves... £44... Bulin stoves from Amazon (same stove) £25... you gotta shop around... Some of NGT stuff isn't bad (luggage mainly) but don't bother with their rods or terminal gear Bank Tackle is good on price and quality, New Direction isn't bad either...
  20. Oh well... blanketty blank cheque book for me... slow pack up then home... at least its only a seven miles away... much prefer smaller waters if I'm honest... not a fan of big open ressies
  21. Well... my plans for a bed of bait are out of the window... my mate Bully and I managed to get two swims as two lads pulled off... so according to them they blanked and spodded about 5kg per rod over 2 days.. so singles and small glugged bags it is then... gonna wind one in in a bit and put on a Zig... got about 12' in front of us on clear gravel... fingers crossed
  22. Big gaffe this... 24 acres, in the teeth of an easterly that is quite cool... ya have to drop in where you can due to rule breakers and stroke pullers... Seen two fish topping... but we're well off them...
  23. Only 1 rod to be used for zigs at Berners, one of mine will be out about 6-8' off the deck
  24. So... heres a question... doing a 48 from tuesday the weather is high pressure with 18°daytime 3° overnight... is it worth using hemp oil in my mix (sticky manilla boilies 12/16mm, hemp, maggots, corn, tigers and pellets) or should I stick with the Cloudy Manilla juice...? ( or a bit of both...?)
