    January catch report

Here's my first fish of the year. Was -4 to start the session. Had a run, lifted into it but nothing on the end( thinking small fish with just bait in its mouth ). Then for the next few hours I could see my line pulling tight n slackening back off but not actually taking. Turns out pva wasn't melting (my mix of condensed milk and manilla being over cooked n like caramel stopping the PVA dissolving)(first time trying condensed milk). About 4pm I seen a fish show to the right of me, nowhere near where I was fishing so I quickly boshed a chod together and within 30mins, boom, fish on. Managed to land a 17.32 mirror saving me a blank. Not massive but always nice to get a winter carp

    Hooked on a water

There's one that I'm currently on about a 7 acre low stock lake but some nice fish. Not many fish come out in the day (but I keep trying knowing it's a difficult water as I find that a challenge) but the lake comes alive in the night but.... night tickets are like gold dust. Really want a night ticket to get this water out my system

    Old skool tackle

The Gorilla gaffer tape mod worked a treat i used the 410 with the new cane rod and no tangles behind spool, so happy to continue using at least one of these reels

    Hooked on a water

Need a few decent over 50's only lakes, I used to like a mid week only ticket not many do them now, you get far too many anglers trying to turn a hobby into a paying job, bait testers being the worst of the lot on a small water.

  7. That's a big advantage for me now. We can't keep the car behind the swim, it does have to go in the car park, but unloading without pushing a barrow any distance is a big plus. I struggle to even push a barrow with my pike rods and one bag on it around 100metres!

little update on the 410 reels i cut a slice (long 4mm ribbon of gorilla tape and fitted that to bottom of spool and it takes up the gap nicely, it should improve the problem
