  1. I had a sonik spod reel, the factory braid was horrible it also kept snapping, I changed it for some 35lb spider braid, then the reel seized and wouldn't turn, if you can just rub the back of the line clip with a bit of fine sandpaper that should get rid of the burr.

  2. That's just bizarre. Is there an obvious burr or sharp edge on the clip? It looks fine in the photos.

  3. As you put the braid on the reel put a twist of power gum under the clip. So power gum under the clip, around the spool and knotted on the opposite side. Then cover it over by reeling the braid onto the spool. That should help protect the braid from clip damage.

  4. I would say you have found the fault if you speak to Weston developments they sell a line clip you may be able to use. but they would double the value of your reel on the old fashioned shark tooth v shaped line clip you inserted a piece of marker elastic into the clip first and it protected the line try that as a first fix. Not sure if John Robert’s still sell a line clip device I will have a look

    Lake cavagnac

I fished this last year and really enjoyed it, absolutely stunning venue and will definitely be back one day. Was setup in it's current guise by Nash, but something went on and he had to get out of there, there's a Nash podcast about it and worth the listen to get Kev's side of the story, or as he tells it. We drove down, which from Lancashire was a bit too far, 2 days there and 2 days back and will definitely fly next time. We fished in the Sanctuary swim, or the Oven as some call it, and we found out why even in the early October sunshine. It's a boat job to get your kit there, but they do that for you. You'll also need boats to get to the facilities from there, it's a boat across one section, walk through the forest a bit then a rope ferry across to the other side, proper adventure and don't be put off by that, only a handful of swims are in that vein. You get plenty of water and it's all very straight forward what water is yours. Mark the Owner was great as were the Bailiff's. Food package was good and well worth having, fishing was good for us, brilliant for some and not so great for others, but that's fishing, I think you'd be unlucky to have a bad week on there. There were quite a few smaller fish being caught, and I mean pasties, some were affected but others didn't have any. I only had 2, and had several other fish to 49lb, quite a few thirties. Lost a right lump out in the middle of the lake in the lilies. Fishing into the lilies can be daunting but is exciting stuff fishing tight lines and fairly locked up at 200 yds approx (not many areas at this range), hitting single beeps and out in the boat to land a few fish, but I quite enjoy that style of fishing when it's required. It's a stunning lake and some swims are an adventure to get to shall we say, but all part of the experience. Definitely will be going back in the future, but will be flying!

  7. In that case it's the braid that's dodgy. I've used all sorts of combinations in the past and I now just use 40lb braid straight through. Dead easy, no issues.
