    What bait

Old wives tail mate, they will still eat fishmeal in the winter the problems you can get is becuase the water is colder and there metabolic rate has slowed down, if they chow down on a heavy protein bait it basically can take them alot longer to digest so they wont be as inclined to eat again for several days maybe longer, also combine that with there requirements change when the water is colder so they are looking for fast hits of more energy based/easy digestable baits like a Manilla or Live system rather than a complete food source.

  2. What nick means is open Google earth and find pictures of the lake. you can get various pictures for different weather conditions if you look enough and it might show you the bars gulleys etc. the. You can use the measuring tool and work out how far these are and then cast to them.

3 on the spot or not

it really depends on the spot and the situation. Impossible to say before you're in a swim and found the spots that are fishable. I normally try to spread my rods in a swim to give options and may move two to a spot if it's producing fish and the others are quiet.

3 on the spot or not

I tend to let the carp tell me what to do. If there's a spot in front of me on which my finned friends are clearly having it, I like nothing more than to fish 3 on it. Some of my best hits have come to this method. But it's very rarely this situation occurs and even rarer there's space for three rods on the spots I tend to fish. I just fish to what I see. This could mean 3 on a spot or 3 different spots dotted all over the place. Or 2.... or even 1.

3 on the spot or not

I do like to move rods about depending on what I see through the session. On a busy day ticket you often end up fishing 3 on a spot as there's no other choice although that can be good sometimes, but then it's normally one rod outfishing the others, the spot within a spot.

  7. Google can be your friend, especially if you can find a decent Google Earth picture. I did have a South Lagoon Nazeing picture, complete with every bar and distances marked. The time to put the marker float about is about an hour before you leave. The more you learn the better. When it comes to bait, many current food source baits are frequently on a nut or vegetable protein base, which I don't think are as good as the meat or fish based base mixes of 10years ago. Vegetable and nut proteins are not complete proteins in as much as they miss a couple of essential amino acids, where fishmeal, meat meal, or yeast based are rich in all essentials, and as such I think are better baits.

  8. 2nd night a bust still no fish down the other end so a move today after trying floaters on the small lake for an hour. Can't get the swim I really want on this new easterly, but this is the nearest one, 2 rods very close to the point, 1k of mix over the top, one close on a single pink. New swim to me, had to open it up as noones bothered - hours work before setting up, deserve a fish for that, last night so fingers crossed 🤞
