Cheers Blue I’ve just purchased a whip that comes with a free rig and I’ll buy a couple more to be on the safe side , and I’ll heed your advice re the 2 hour thing though he’s just the type to insist on continuing if he’s enjoying . Once he does get into something , anything , that interests him he tends to throw himself 200% into it , he can be like a racehorse with blinkers on and can only see what’s in front of him to the exclusion of anything and everything . The key will be catching . He catches a fish early doors it’ll be difficult to get him away from the bank. Itll be a family outing anyway , my Mrs will be with us to whip (pardon the pun) him away if necessary. She doesn’t mind a bit of fishing herself and has a 14lb PB 🤣 I’ll add to the thread as and when , I really appreciate your help . Whipping looks fun 🤩

A 3m whip, chair, net, disgorger... job done I was an Angling Coach for 11 years... a whip is always first port of call for youngsters... a cheap whip is about a fiver, a cheap rig can cost a couple of quid, you'll no doubt have a net and disgorger... and a little chair, the Range do some kids chairs... Get rigs with barbless hook just in case of the odd accident... keep the session down to 2 hours max if your lad has attention deficit...and go to a prolific venue... nowt worse than blanking... tight lines..👍

  5. Was meant to fish Saturday. Got two miles form the lake and got a puncture! Spent the rest of the day getting recovered, then waiting for new tyres and tracking to be done. £300 later I went home, and didn't even get to cast out. Not the day I was expecting. So, undeterred, I went on Sunday. I tied a chod rig for my new super squid pop-ups, made ground bait from vitalin and other goodies, chucked a glug of fish and liver hydros in there, and fermented overnight. I made some HNV boilies glugged and coated in powder, then finished off witn a glaze of Minamino. I fished that in a PVA bag with pellets and some special K squirted in there. After all of that - blankety blank! lol. And it was baltic once the sun went in. That said, it was so good to be back on the bank again, so all worth it

  6. Buzzards, skylarks, grey wagtails, Egyptian and Canada Geese, along with the swans for me. That south easterly wind made it tough packing up. I would much rather have stayed curled up in the bag watching the water.

  7. My alternator packed in the other week. I'd driven around 20miles towards the lake when the battery totally went, must have been low anyway as I hadn't driven for a couple of weeks. Had to wait tor 2hours to get towed back to Ipswich. Cost £150 for tow back to mine, £50 for new battery as I think the old one was cold affected and wasn't holding charge properly, then £260 for the alternator. The garage had the car in over the weekend as the first replacement delivered Saturday was damaged. On top of £350 for MOT at end of December was not happy.
