    Thought of the Day pt.2

Raise a glass today lads..... Rod Hutchinson is laid to rest today...… " Legend" is a much over used word these days, but I think it's highly appropriate in his case...… R.I.P.

  2. Welcome to the forum. No it’s not unusual for fish to take “different” baits. It’s been well documented over the years of carp being caught on a variety of baits. What I will say about Krave is they go soft quite quick,I know this as there my young sons favourite and if he leaves a few they go mushy quite quick. My favourite change bait is liquorice...... they catch allsorts. I’ll get my coat ....... 🙄🙄😬

    Thought of the Day pt.2

Have to.remember that one. At 2am yesterday morning I was in the garden in a wet towel after a cold shower and I was still sweating lol. Think I might move to a cooler country like Spain or something.

10 minutes of rain and still sweating my cods off here mate. I love the summer but this week has drained me. Never thought I'd hope for cool weather.

  7. Note to self....... do not let your finger hover too close to the "buy it now" button when viewing sets of rods available on 0% finance. 3 x TS's now on their way to me. 😱😱😱

Blimey I'm going to take that as a compliment, thank you. I'd like to think that your assumption is spot though. I get more enjoyment catching carp how I want to catch them, and from where I want to catch them, rather than their numbers and sizes. Mind you it is forty-six years since I caught my first carp by design and I'm sure that I've learned to appreciate things more with age.

    Marker rod uses

welcome to the forum Ryder i use a set of 3 fox warriors of which one was sold as a dedicated marker rod, two main at 2.75 Tc and the marker is 3.25 Tc, believe me when i say that marker rod is always used as my distance rod, i can chuck between 75-100 yds with the 2.75s without trying and that is usually about my range for fishing accurately but then when i have set my traps the marker rod gets pub chucked at a distant feature (just for luck ;)) and 150+ is nowt,, saying that it shed an eye ring last weekend as the braid frapped round the eye and i had a loaded spomb on at the time, nearly wrenched the damn rod out of my hands when it locked up

personally I don't fish commercials, the only day ticket waters I've been to recently are sandhurst and Cromwell, neither of which are local to the area, if you're going to pay day ticket rates you might as well head south, at least the waters down there offer 30's for the top dollar you pay, up here the prices charged compared to the size of fish available makes our commercials a complete rip off managing expectations is quite right, I'm Wirral based and I've fished in Cheshire since 1996, funnily enough I started travelling out there to catch bigger carp, 20's and possibly a 30?, in the 21 years since I started trying for one, I still haven't had a Cheshire 30, I fish a session near enough every week right throughout the year, my average over the years is around 3x20's a season, sometimes I have more, others i'll catch less but most of those 20's are under 23lb regarding expectations, catching a fish of 25lb+ in our region isn't impossible, some always get lucky but for most of us, a target like that requires time and dedication, the magazines might make it look an easy task but its far from it

I've been fishing in Cheshire for many years, outside of the south east we have the biggest concentration of carp anglers in the country but we don't have many big fish waters, so the big fish waters that are known are often under intense pressure if you come across a little known water with good fish in, the quickest way to ruin it for yourself is to put it online because everyone up here is looking for a leg up...lol
