I find these hair clips in the bar, but they're available everywhere for next to nothing, (she'll never miss it), and as the bait disintegrates it closes on the line. I keep a few of various sizes in my tackle box.
Used to open up a paperclip, then wrap it around a biro to make a spring type thingie. Used this attached to a hair to mould the paste around. The spring from a clothes peg worked well too lol.
Gives me an idea!
Fill them with boilie paste, and even roll it outside the cage, and boil as per your boilie mix.
You then have a crayfish resistant bait.
The outer skin may be munched, but the 'liner' is protecting the inner part of the boilie from the little beggars

I wouldn't like you to hurt anything in any way , maybe you should start off with a TFG pod or a couple of Dinsmore bank stocks before you progress to a Solar or Jag jobby ?
