  2. Thanks, glad your all sorted now too..
  3. Today
  4. Hi Paul Been looking in for some time now and have struggled to register for some reason? However, here I am. I hope this place offers you a good place for discussion and where opinions and alternative views are welcomed. Reading through a large number of previous threads, I think you are going to be ok.
  5. The last time I went there it was empty, that was a few years ago though, I'm pretty sure there has been a lot of stockies put in since it filled up and I seem to remember there being an enduro last year, may ask on one of the FB groups?
  6. Here's hoping..
  7. Hi all; I posted a link to this channel on the other forum and got my account restricted for it - not that I care tbh.. I've not done any hydro's myself but this channel shows clearly how to do it at home; I generally get this from AA or Luc at Feedstim, both are excellent. I have done a fair bit of Lactic fermentation over the last few years, mainly in particles and yep, done well in the specific conditions the results make it highly worthwhile.
  8. grown up !!!
  9. Greetings all - looking forward to a slightly more grown up place to talk about our simple past time than 'elsewhere'..
  10. back up and working, and a spammer banned lol
  11. Couldn't post this on the news section, but it's been down for a few days for me. Missed being a grumpy old git at times! 😂👍
  12. Last week
  13. I might be mistaken, but think one of your original posts on here was deleted? Anyway, I have wasted a bit of time earlier looking into hydrolsates, seems too much faffing about and can't be bothered with it. God knows what the fish one smells like!!! Seems like there is nothing new anymore in the 'bait war' trends, will younger carpers actually do this... of course not. As a property program said ages ago, it's all about 'location, location, location' 👍 Tight lines to all, hopefully I will get on bank when my club lake reopens after spawning is done 👍
  14. I was speaking to some people in a fermented food group on faceache... There is this chef there doing his own meat and sausage stuff. He strongly adviced me not to use homemade culture but pointed me towards commercial bacteria cultures. with the homemades it is hard to get consistent results and also you risk food poisoning like salmonella and botulin. In particular when fermenting liver and fish. This one should be perfect: https://www.weschenfelder.co.uk/flora-italia-lc-25g-sachet.html Recipe from the chef: Mince fresh Mackerel thoroughly. Add: 8–10% salt 3–8% molasses or glucose Acidify immediately: lactic acid alone, or lactic + small amount citric acid until pH reaches ~4.0–4.2. Add Flora Italia LC at recommended dosage. Ferment in food-grade bucket/container at ~20–30 °C. Stir daily with clean utensil. When liquefied and sour-stable (typically 1–3 weeks), store cool/refrigerated. Can store for a year in the fridge. Warning. If it later develops: swelling pressure, mold, strong fecal/sewage odor, sharp sulfur gas, or pH rise, discard it.
  15. why is that mate?
  16. Wrong forum lol
  17. Why bother mate..... guess this will be deleted 😂
  18. On Saturday we got the koi out one by one to measure them (koi size tends to be expressed in length (cm) rather than weight which I struggle to get me head around!). We have 4 over 70cm, biggest 75, 5 x 60s, 5 x 50s, 4 x 40s and a couple at 39 cm. Weight wise, 31 and 30 lb are the biggest. It was actually a bit of a stressful operation. When you net the white ones you can see them going pink as the blood vessels expand with stress. This just makes you want to get them back as quick as possible. Obviously you don't see that when you catch a normal carp as their colour hides the pinkness. The koi are in a right mood after the ordeal. They're feeding but nowhere near as well as they were. I even bought them a load of dried shrimp/silkworm as a treat and even that stuff's not getting them excited. I suspect it'll take a few days for them to get over it properly.

    May catch report

What a session. Well done to the lad. Yesterday I went for a walk around a water on which I have a ticket starting in June. It's an awesome place, nearly 90 acres of water in a massive nature reserve/SSSI/SPA. A proper big pit with everything that you could hope to see..... bays, islands, snaggy margins, massive sheets of water that go on forever, a really impressive place. I actually fished this water ~25 years ago when I was completely out of my depth. I caught one carp, to this day one of the best I've caught. Would you believe it..... I walked into the swim I caught from all those years ago, and there were loads of gulls diving on a huge hatch. I persuaded the Mrs and kids to stop for 5 mins so I could check it out. Straight away I spotted the carp popping there heads out feeding on this hatch, well within casting distance too. All that water and I found them straight away. Couldn't believe it. Law of the sod dictates I'll not find another chance like that once my ticket starts but it certainly got the blood flowing ready for June!
  20. Because I think I could tell the difference with a leading rod.
  21. Has anyone tried making Lactobacillus hydrolysates. Very effective for nearly anything. You need to make a bacterial culture first, then use this to digest liver, fish or other stuff. It's not my YT channel, just want to know if anyone has tried this before I do it myself. Here is the bacteria culture; Liver hydrolysate: Also CSL: https://youtu.be/_e-jE1fsGUM?si=Vw6meCB7nNUcwoPY
  22. I got into Lego over the 'winter' months, it can be very addictive though! Built a Lighthouse, Jaws boat - a right [censored] to do - and a couple of motorised cars that I modded it was good fun 👍 Now weather is warming up, that will be on hold for now. Do rember the Airfix kits, sure I had an Airfix saturn 5 rocket - should kept it!
  23. And another… 14lb
  24. Hello all, I just got invited to fish a pretty over grown estate lake with fish up to mid thirties. Casting with 12 feet rods is near impossible in many places. You need to wade out and possibly scare the fish. Not to keen on using a bait boat. Have anyone used the Sonik Xtractor 8 feet rods? How are they when playing fish? They seem very short when checking them out in the shop.
  25. He’s had another! 38lb 2oz common, equals his common PB
  26. Not my catches, but my boys! He’s getting to grips with the local park lake 32lb 2oz mirror (new pb) 30lb 1oz mirror - a double take and 2 30s on the bank! one proud (and envious!) father!
  27. I have a fleet of models, but these are mainly 1/10th rc rock crawlers here is my most recent one an FTX Trooper based on a toyota LC71, i have added lots of scale parts, great fun to drive
  28. I cant remember last time i dropped a lead but i fish inline or running lead set up safe because the lead will dump in event of a snap of, but TBH the venue i most fish has no weed or snaggs and the carp only run to max 18-19lb
