salokcinnodrog Posted February 9, 2009 Report Share Posted February 9, 2009 The Drennan Super Specialist Braid is very thin for a braid, actually quite like cheesewire, definitely not my favourite hooklink material. It cuts deeply especially when you get tangled up in it I tend to use Braids for most of my fishing, and nearly always use PVA either as a bag, mesh or stringer. If you use mesh, then you can attach one end to your Lead clip (whether Running or Semi-fixed), and the other end to the hook, or just the hook. If you use a bag you can put the whole hooklink inside (and the lead for longer distance). As for stringers, attached to the Mainline swivel, the lead clip again, or the hook. As you pick up the rod and move the lead you may be popping it into the middle of the rig, which then wraps around the lead and clip. jemsue5 Posted February 10, 2009 Report Share Posted February 10, 2009 Dave, try something like fox cortex it is a coated braid but really easy to strip a few inches back giving you a combi link effect and some movement at the hook end. Add a anti tangle sleeve from korda, fox etc and tangles will become a thing of the past my friend. If by some chance you still have problems a small pva bag or two bait stringer will help as well. zander1 Posted February 10, 2009 Report Share Posted February 10, 2009 I know where your coming from Jake, it took me ages to get it right- ( I uses e-s-p sink link which is nion the same) its just perseverance mate, keep trying and you will get it right, practise makes perfect. My fishing leaves a lot to be desired but im tackling one thing at a time and ill get to where i want to be eventually with my own fishing. but you don't get 'out for nu'fin combi links are easier to use tho and im going to use them more this year Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Or, if like me you totally fail at using fingernails, teeth or any other other part of the human anatomy to strip it. nash_gadgeteer Posted March 14, 2009 Report Share Posted March 14, 2009 If you open to suggestion change your hooklink material to Fox Coretex to give you a stiff combi link and supple tip (comes in various colours) and use a Fox or Korda quick change sleeve to push over the hooklink and swivel to push the hooklink away from the lead. Give it a try..... Plus feather you cast down or clip up and follow through with the rod, this will push out the hookbait away from the lead and then you lay the rig down on the surface of the water and not have it diving away and tangling.
