blandy Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 sorry to sound dumb but wheres peg 90? ive always tried to get close to the boat house bit as been told thats one of the better areas? (only been twice though) Also is there any other parking other than the little bit by the dam wall? Quote
leggs007 Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 walk round left hand side of lake to get to the 90's and only parking is by dam wall to be fair most pegs can catch i just like it around the 90's because never had less than 10 fish from them fav pegs 35 -36 fish towards or next to pontoon or boat house thats it i've got to kill you now, if you can get on those pegs. if you blank i think you need to take up golf Quote
blandy Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 lol ill have a look then ive never even walked round to that side ive always headed towards the boathouse and gone along that side so will give the 90's ago thanks for the inside info Quote
crippsy999 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 alrite lads, thinking of doin a kwik sesh up drayton on sunday, any tips?? what peg should i head 4 as never fished it before. crippsy Quote
alanbell1978 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 how you doing i fished it for the first time last year everyone was catching. As has been said any peg is good i walked round to the right past the boat house it seemed any bait worked its a good place to get a bend in the rod but i warn you now most the fish are in a bad way with most there lips missing Quote
bowza Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 what ever peg you can get on , put on at the rod tip and another as far as u can chuck it with a pva bag having the wind in your face seems to be a good tactic on there as Alan says the fish have been through the mill, check them over and its not uncommon to find more than your hook in the poor things Bowza Quote
crippsy999 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 ah rite cheers 4 the advise, jst a kwik one was thinking of using a 18mm pop up on a chod rig setup any experiance using this setup there? crippsy Quote
bowza Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 nope used 14mm banana popups on a balanced rig, caught a few, and a fair number of the top on dog biscuits, plus off the botom with boilies, meat, corn and maggots Bowza Quote
leggs007 Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 ah rite cheers 4 the advise, jst a kwik one was thinking of using a 18mm pop up on a chod rig setup any experiance using this setup there? crippsy bottom baits work fine no need for fancy rigs the bottom is flat with no snags only the boards your sitting on that the fish will try and get round, pellet waggler bagging waggler and dog biscuit also work really well in warmer weather Quote
syddallj Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 If you are going on a Sunday, get there early! Quote

skelly23 Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Thinking of fishing Drayton on friday for 24 hours!! taking a newbie to the sport so want plenty of runs to keep them interested! Would you say Drayton will be easier than thorpe lea and brasenose one? what would you go for?? cheers Quote
skelly23 Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 only problem is mate its normally rammed with anglers!!! and theres never any room to secure your bivvy down!! especially as the water level is so low! you recon ive got just as good a chance on thorpe lea or brasenose?? cheers Quote
syddallj Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Can't speak for Brasenose one but Drayton will give you more runs than Thorpe Lea. (Bigger fish but fewer of them) But on the plus side, at least you can put a bivvy up at Thorpe! Quote
leggs007 Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 why anyone needs to do nights on drayton amazes me the fish come out all day and plenty of them, yes the water is low at moment but there is a few places to put a bivvy up but unless you bring your rods out of water you won't be having any sleep anyway Quote
skelly23 Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Maybe if they want to fish the place when its not rammed packed ? Quote
leggs007 Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 the fish still come out when its ram packed Quote
bowza Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 not in February they did not blanked at Drayton, who would have thought it Bowza Quote
blandy Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 Quick question do they open the gates at 6.30am still? And what's it like in the week I.e is it easier to get parked etc as considering taking my dad up on a fri so as he can catch his first carp above 3lb Quote
slick1 Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I fished drayton last friday (13th) got there about 6.45 and gates were open, fished peg 39 on the dam wall, wind was in my face, tough going as water levels are about 10 to 12 feet down so every time you get a fish its off the platform and down the steps to waters edge to land fish, back up steps to unhook, back down steps to release fish, back up steps to carry on fishing. i finished with 25 fish, smallest 6lb biggest 16lb 3oz, total weight was just over 300lbs. Quote
slick1 Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 sorry forgot to mention that it wasn't very busy, about 25 fishing but around tea time it started to get a lot busier as people were turning up for night sessions. Quote
blandy Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Cool thanks for the info Hoping to get a good day and get my dad into a few doubles so that he can catch the bug Quote
