Bexibex Posted Thursday at 13:44 Report Share Posted Thursday at 13:44 We have inherited some land with a lake that has carp fish. We don’t fish but are thinking of setting up a fishery service; do we as land owners need a licence to offer this service? We don’t fish ourselves and are aware you need a personal licence to fish if we decide we want to take up this hobby but looking at it from a business point of view. Thanks. Not that I'm aware of, licences are for the anglers themselves. You may need some sort of registration with the environment agency but that's a pure guess, because it's them who'd support you if you had disease outbreaks. framey Posted Thursday at 15:22 Report Share Posted Thursday at 15:22 There are a couple of fishery owner forums on Facebook that will probably give you the right advise. you could also possibly ask the angling trust if they have any contacts failing that you could just lease it out to a club or syndicate and let them deal with it al and you just sit back and take the rents. would depend on if you want a stress free rental or a headache of running day tickets and have any old Tom richard or Harry all over your property. I'm guessing Public Liability Insurance if you actually ran the fishery yourself ? .
greekskii Posted Friday at 22:12 Report Share Posted Friday at 22:12 You’d need to register the fishery with the EA if you’re going to run it as a legitimate business. Then you’d be able to get stocking licenses. These allow you to stock fish from reputable fish farms and dealers. and also allows the EA to do spot checks for rod licences. kevtaylor, salokcinnodrog and yonny
