Hi John, just wondering, as you are looking for an overwrap are you intending to fish through the night or do the odd longer session? If so, and I don't want to sound too forward, but you might be better off taking that one back and getting something more suited to the job. The guy has sold you a match brolly, maybe a misunderstanding in the shop?  There are some decent budget carp brollies out there that will give you a lot more protection from the elements, and  purpose made overwraps can be bought easily, if need be.  The one you have bought, nice though it is, hasn't got the stability needed and has fewer pegging points than a carp brolly with storm sides. I fear that the first of the Autumn gales may see you in a spot of bother. No offence meant, just trying to be helpful.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/60in-Oval-Brolly-Shelter-With-Storm-Sides-and-Groundsheet/16004291915?iid=192232043910

Here's one example. There are others about if you do a search.

Thanks so much for the info , I cant actually return it , ( long story , ) ... I do long Day sessions ( dawn until dusk , ) but never Night fishing , I honestly thought there would have been a wrap that you throw over it and peg it down , but looking on google I cant find any , Years ago thats what you could buy for all sizes of brollys ,

I'll probably end up buying a cheap bivvie I guess , Many Thanks :)

Long time from the days of one brolly fits all!

Your green 45 or 50 inch Steadefast is no more, everything is now specialised, Match fishing or Carp fishing, and then particular brand will only fit said brand.

Must admit I still miss my 50brolly with overwrap at times, although that plastic skin meant it was quite heavy.

I wonder if it's possible that anyone still has an old brolly overwrap hanging around?

Had a 50" Nubrolly, weighed a ton. Bit of "borrowed" clear plastic off the local building site would be pinned in by the spokes to create storm sides. Used to get two of us under that, well our top halves at least. Legs would get wet or frosted depending on time of year... Them were the days, jumpers for goal posts, blah blah. :D

I can remember those days, large sheet of plastic trying to keep you covered:o

I had a 50" brolly, and had the Fox Jekh shelter overwrap, boy was that a bivvy and a half. I seriously wish I hadn't sold it but I upgraded to an original Fox EasyDome.

Thanks for all the replies guys , Yeah the one I had was so light and just rolled over an upright brolly , not much room in it but it worked a treat ,

Bivvys seem cheap enough so will for sure get One ... can anyone recommend One that is quick and easy to put up please , I've not long had Heart Surgery so cant struggle with it too much ,

Huge Thanks again :)

Strangely enough after all the talk of bivvies, brollies and Overwraps, I have gone back to TFG Oval brolly with the Oval Overwrap they do for it.

I do like the standard brolly with stormsides as it comes, (with stormpoles) and I have slept under that, but if bad weather is forecast or I am fishing for a few days I do use the overwrap, for which you will need a longer pair of storm sticks

I use a brolly for all of my fishing, although I am looking at a new Bivvy primarily for a drive 'n survive trip I'm planning for next year.

I have a Wychwood Solace 60" HD brolly which is fantastic. Superb build quality and very good material (comes with a 5 year warranty too!).

It's an absolute doddle to put up, I can have it up and secure in less than three or four minutes. It's solid and secure.

I only fish during the "warmer" months, so have never purchased an overwrap for it, but one is available.

I have been out in some torrential rain in it and it has never let me down. Just have to tuck yourself right up the back!!

If you do go the brolly route, make sure you pay the tiny bit extra and get a 60" one.

After a lot of faffing about, I've gone back to the tried and tested standard brolly , JRC Stealth. My last one did me for 15yrs without even giving it a recoat. I gave it away last year, very used and abused.

John, just my opinion, but from the sort of sessions you are planning, a brolly and a wrap will give you the best of both worlds, and are easier and quicker to set up and pack down than a bivvy.

Or a brolly system, which has a zip in infill panel on the front if the weather turns sour.......... Good luck mate, BTW don't worry yourself about asking questions on the forum, I've asked plenty, it's what forums are all about fella.

On the note about a zip-in infill panel, may I suggest you look at the TFG Power brolly.

Something like that, the link I put up gives full pics of various ways it can be set up, as well as buying price direct from TFG.

My apologies , I just had another look and the pictures do show it as a brolly wrap and then a bivvy style shelter , that looks ideal ... do you know if its easier to assemble and is the shop a reputable one to buy from ? , Thanks

I have bought stuff direct from TFG direct with no problems, and some tackle shops also sell their stuff.

My mate who has one has no problems setting his up, think it takes about 5 minutes with the full bivvy sides from memory
