snoozer Posted September 5, 2016 Report Share Posted September 5, 2016 Don't think there's a "best Alarm" just various Alarms with strengths and weaknesses. I run txi's and have never experienced wet weather issues. If they get wet i always dry them out. You say them suggesting more than 1 is giving you grief ? adamkitson Posted September 5, 2016 Report Share Posted September 5, 2016 If you've got a leaking delk get it sent to Delkim. They should fix and re seal it without charge. keeno86 Posted September 6, 2016 Report Share Posted September 6, 2016 what is weird about this thread is i have had some issues with my delks, i sent them back and got sent a new set only to find the new ones doing the same thing. i had a set a few years back and they were faultless never let me down. this year in total ive had 1 new reciever and 2 more sent back and 2 txi`s which had to go back and a new set of 2 sent out, which had the same issue. im hearing more and more from other people about issues with delks that have been purchased recently. I still carry one in my kit for when my Delks go wrong in the rain (which luckily aint happened in a couple of years now after having mega problems previously). The micron M's cost me 20 quid a piece, I've replaced the batteries once in maybe 20 odd years. Outperforms my £500 Delks in the rain. Ridiculous. I have heard from 2 owners that fluoro skips over the rollers. No issues with normal mono though (odd, I thought). Apart from that I too have heard rave reviews. Yes it could indeed mate. I've been toying with the idea of replacing my Delks for a little while but frankly there's nothing out there 100% faultless to replace them with...... smufter Posted September 9, 2016 Report Share Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) I've just had a good look at the New Fox Micron MX+ they look pretty robust and reliable and at £32 a pop, I've been using 3 of these for the past 3 or 4 years and never had a problem with them. Completely reliable, have never let me down come rain or shine. Two stage sensitivity, a simple toggle on/off switch (which is great when setting up your bobbins so you don't annoy your neighbours), and the blue warning light is super bright. Blindingly bright!! You could turn your volume right down but won't miss anything cos you can see those lights from 100 yards away. The other good thing about them is that they operate on 2 "cheap as chips buy anywhere" AAA batteries. So no trawling the shops looking for specialist ones. You can add a transmitter to them and buy the receiver to match, but I have never bothered as I never move away from my rods far enough to have needed one. My daughter has been so impressed with mine over the years that she has just bought 3 of her own, passing on her previous Chub ones to her boyfriend. She much preferred the simple toggle on/off switch on mine, her old ones, (like a lot of others), had a push button switch and she was never sure if they were on or off. I have not recently had the problem of my Delkims going doolally when they got wet (it has happened in the long distant past), and I use the sensitivity dial dependant on lake and weather conditions and lead style, running vs semi-fixed. I use the volume dial dependant on whether I am an overnight or just day session. Overnight I have my ATT receiver in my bivvy. A day session I have the volume on the alarm at a level I can hear it, and that means I use the tone dial to put the alarm at a pitch of tone I can hear comfortably (usually quite high tone). They work for me. Yet there will be others who prefer Fox alarms, although my gripe is that models change every few years. A Mini Micron from the early noughties should be the same now, but we have had Micron this, Micron that, Micron M, Micron MS, MR, Mr+, NTX all in the name of convincing anglers to spend more money on tackle that they should not need to. Steve Nevilles, Gardner ATTs alarms, TFG Dave Lane MagRunners as far as I can see are almost bombproof, and the TFG's are around £80 for a set of 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
